Rita, a middle aged New York City homemaker, finds herself in an emotional crisis which forces her to re-examine her life, as well as her relationships with her mother, her eye doctor husband, her alienated daughter and estranged son.
Channing tells Miles she can't have children. In reality she's afraid of dying in childbirth like her mother. Fallon confides in Frankie. Sable insists that Channing visits a doctor for a second opinion, and by doing so inadvertently uncovers Fallon's secret.
Jason proposes that Miles adopts a child. Sable disagrees. Jeff admits he's considered an abortion for Fallon. When Miles learns about Fallon's baby, he confronts Jeff on the rainy roof of the Colby Tower.
