Not enough time has passed yet to look at Season 4 of Outer Banks with fond memories, and it is truly questionable whether such a moment will ever arrive. Three years in a row, Netflix delivered a new season of the adventure series following the Pogues as they try their best to stay out of trouble (or occasionally get into trouble) with the Kooks and simultaneously go on dangerous treasure hunts.
With Outer Banks Season 4 having been released at the beginning of November, the overall positive perception of the show was crushed in an instant. It is no secret that the drama surrounding the hit Netflix series took on a new dimension, leaving avid fans questioning the showrunners and writers of Outer Banks. Multiple instances are dragging down the popularity level of the YA drama series, so lets take a look at why Outer Banks Season 4 is the most infuriating yet.

The full season of Outer Banks season 4 is now streaming on Netflix following the release of the final five episodes of the season on Nov. 7. Season 4 brought about a lot of change for the Pogues but as the adage goes, the more things change the more they stay the same.
While the Pogues start the season out riding high off their victory at the end of season 3 which saw them discover the lost city of El Dorado and escape with over $1 million in gold nuggets, they quickly came crashing back down to reality. With their earnings going down the drain in the blink of an eye, the Pogues once again found themselves pulled into a treasure hunt which brought about a new wave of obstacles to overcome and brought about new threats lurking around every corner.

After barely escaping with a very important map from very bad people, the Pogues do something very Pogue-like in the first scene of Outer Banks season 4 episode 8, “Family Plot.” They – well, not Sarah – get high and try to decode the map to the Blue Crown at Poguelandia.
They probably should not have gone straight home, because Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) shows up a few hours later. He begs for help, and JJ Maybank (Rudy Pankow), the kind man that he is, tries to help him.
Groff reveals that they are now in possession of the Mogador scroll, a map, but he warns them that the Lupine Corsairs are very bad mercenaries. They will not let this go. Now, the Pogues are in grave danger.
Groff also tells them a story about the Blue Crown and how it came into the possession of Murad, a pirate. He also tells them...

Outer Banks is one of the best series on Netflix right now, but watching it requires some level of emotional strength, as the drama continues. Throwing the Pogues in another chaotic and dangerous treasure hunt, this new season tackles some more family issues on top of everything else. While Ward Cameron is no more, the toxicity he allowed to seethe through his family continues to poison his children. Rafe, Sarah, and Wheezie are carrying along the burden of their twisted siblinghood. Netflix is no stranger to series that involve family drama and strained relationships, but with Outer Banks, there is a whole ton of that.
After three seasons, treasure-obsessed Big John and gold-craving Ward Cameron have truly reached the end of their roads. Theres no doubt about that, but Season 4 of Outer Banks has brought back the majority of the beloved characters. However, there is one specific character who vanished...

This is a pinch-me-moment because one of the best shows on Netflix has finally returned. Season 4 of the hit Netflix series Outer Banks is here, and it is needless to say each episode is its very own rollercoaster of emotions, inside jokes, and lots of bad ideas. But hey, Pogues roll with whichever cards they are given, right? This time around, though, the stakes are much higher, and the Pogues are starting to push the limits of what is possible.
In some ways, Season 4 is a reminder that danger is a foreign word to the Pogues, which allows Outer Banks to fully capture the spirit of their insane adventures and reckless decision-making. John B, Sarah, Pope, Cleo, JJ, and Kiara cant sit still for too long, and going full Kook didnt change that. As if JJ causing them to lose all of their money isn't enough chaos, this season has a lot more in store,...

The “Black Phone” is ringing again.
Universal and Blumhouse have announced a sequel to the 2022 horror film, “The Black Phone,” set for June 27, 2025. The companies say “The Black Phone 2” is the “launch of a sinister new franchise.”
The original movie starred Ethan Hawke, as a child abductor and murderer called the Grabber, and Mason Thames, a 13-year-old boy named Finney who crosses the killer’s path. The Grabber locks Finney in a soundproof basement, where nobody can hear him or come to his rescue. The only item is the basement is a disconnected telephone that begins ringing. When Finney answers it, he realizes he’s able to communicate with the spirits of the Grabber’s deceased victims. The kids’ ghosts teach Finney how to survive and fight back, and he’s able to escape the Grabber’s clutches in the end.

Will the Pogues ever catch a break?
Our favorite characters were happily lost at the end of Outer Banks Season 2.
They were ready to live out the rest of their days in a corner of the world, well away from everyone else.
But this is TV, and there has to be drama.
Netflix unveiled a wild first look at Outer Banks Season 3 on Thursday, and we think it's fair to say this will be the most dramatic season yet.
One of the most significant moments showcases John B with his presumed-dead dad, Big John.
That will be a huge moment, for sure, but in true Outer Banks fashion, there are far more pressing things on the agenda.
We also see the Pogues in the city of El Dorado, but what takes them there?
The trailer doesn't give that much away, but we have to assume treasure will be the driving force here.

The trailer doesn't give that much away, but we have to assume treasure will be the driving force here.

The Pogues return to Netflix next month.
Outer Banks Season 3 finally has a premiere date, and it's soon.
Netflix revealed Tuesday that all ten episodes would be available to stream on February 23.
Outer Banks Season 2 wrapped with several big cliffhangers, but what's on tap for Season 3?
"After losing the gold and fleeing the Outer Banks, Season 3 finds the Pogues washed ashore on a desert island that, for a brief moment, seems like an idyllic home," Netflix teases.
"Officially deemed Poguelandia, the island's newest residents spend their days fishing, swimming, and reveling in the carefree lifestyle of their temporary dwelling."
"But things quickly go south for John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo when they find themselves once again caught up in a race for the treasure, quite literally running for their lives," the logline adds.
"They're broke and far from home, they can't trust anyone, Ward and Rafe are hungry for revenge,...

Here is the complete cast of The Black Phone. The latest horror film from director Scott Derrickson and Blumhouse Productions, The Black Phone, tells the story of a horrifying killer, known as "The Grabber," and his latest in a long line of victims. Evoking a similar vibe to stories and shows such as Stephen King's It and Stranger Things, The Black Phone combines childhood nostalgia with bloody horror for a truly spine-tingling tale. The Black Phone cast is full of recognizable faces, some old and some new.
Based on the short story of the same title from author Joe Hill, The Black Phone is set in a small, suburban Colorado town in 1978. The serial killer known as "The Grabber" has already claimed the lives of five victims, and when 13-year-old Finney Shaw awakes in a soundproof basement after being abducted, he quickly realizes he has become victim number six.

We pledge allegiance to Poguelandia.
John B (Chase Stokes) and the “Outer Banks” crew are back in Netflix’s first teaser for the series’ third season, and it seems they’ve finally found some peace on an island they call Poguelandia. The sky is so blue that it’s almost turquoise, the sand is soft and it looks like the gang has set up their own little sun-soaked world far away from Ward (Charles Esten), Rafe (Drew Starkey) and the Sheriff’s Department.
But, of course, nothing is as it seems. Soon, the trailer heats up, showing Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kie (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and JJ (Rudy Pankow) running away from wild dogs and participating in car chases as they continue to search for treasure. There’s also lots of fighting, including with Ward and Rafe, and the return of Cleo (Carlacia Grant) and John B’s resurrected-from-the-dead father,...

The mix of musical genres in the title of this Toronto Film Festival Gala Presentation reflects the wildly uneven tone of this rare drama from Tyler Perry Studios, a lush romantic musical telling the story of a Southern lynching with echoes of the murder of Emmett Till in Mississippi 1955. An imminent bow on Netflix is probably the best strategy for it; Perry may have his following, but it’s hard to imagine a crossover audience for A Jazzman’s Blues.
The setting is the city of Hopewell in Georgia, 1987, and an old Black lady is listening to a TV interview with a local politician, who’s talking down competition from an African American candidate by invoking the now-familiar GOP taking point of inverse racism. “I’ve had just about enough of you, mister white man,” she tells the screen and sets off to his office. Like an ice-cream shop that offers you the choice of pistachio or strawberry and nothing else, the movies Tyler Perry has been churning out for 20 years come in just two flavors: comedy and soap opera. It’s worth noting, in this case, how the flavors blend. Most often, they’re stacked right next to each other, as when Perry’s great sass-mouth frump Madea suddenly plops into the middle of a dramatic scene. Yet there’s a way that the antic, ribald broadness of Perry’s comedy bends the drama into being more over-the-top. That’s why his movies are all of a piece even when they’re all over the place. They feed you pistachio and strawberry, and by the time that’s all melted together you’re tasting one flavor. Call it Tyler Perry with Nuts.

With A Jazzman’s Blues, Tyler Perry proves himself to be, more than anything, a reliable auteur of serviceable melodramas. The film, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and will stream on Netflix on September 23, is an exercise in tropes and caricatures, a game of “spot the cliché.” Nearly all the usual suspects of Black and Biblical stereotypes make an appearance here: the tragic mulatto, the mammy, the magical negro, Cain and his brother Abel. They are assembled, like pieces of a familiar puzzle, under Perry’s assured direction and utilitarian screenplay. The result is Hollywood catnip.
The comparisons to existing projects will be inevitable because A Jazzman’s Blues is an amalgamation of what already exists. There are hints of Green Book in its depictions of the South, The Notebook in the romance, Passing, any films about Black musicians trying to make it North,...

Since the beginning, writer/director Scott Derrickson has had a varied career in horror filmmaking, one that even branched out into the comic book movie juggernaut the MCU and gifted Marvel their most psychedelic film in 2016’s Doctor Strange, To date, his greatest achievement has to be the truly disturbing 2012 Ethan Hawke starring chiller Sinister…until now. As Derrickson re-teams with Hawke for The Black Phone, a film that is undisputedly his greatest work yet as a filmmaker.
Based on the 2004 short story by Joe Hill, The Black Phone sees a child abductor/murderer known as ‘The Grabber’ (Hawke) petrify a Denver suburb in 1978. Brother and sister Finney (Mason Thames) and Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) fear for who is next, as Gwen keeps experiencing visions that are coming true. Ethan Hawke reteams with Sinister director Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) for this ’70s-set serial killer thriller with a supernatural twist or two. Despite some flaws, it’s an enjoyable slice of retro-set horror.
The film opens in North Denver, 1978, where 13 year-old Finney (Mason Thames) is repeatedly bullied, despite having some proficiency on the baseball field. With no mother and an alcoholic, frequently abusive father (Jeremy Davies), Finn’s only support comes from his precocious younger sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), who’s prone to dropping colourful f-bombs.
However, their lives are upended when a local, mask-wearing serial killer known as The Grabber (Hawke) kidnaps Finn and locks him up in a basement. Gwen finds herself having strange dreams that might give a clue to her brother’s whereabouts,...

"You are special, Finney." Universal has debuted a second official trailer for a serial killer thriller titled The Black Phone, which first premiered at Fantastic Fest and Beyond Fest in the fall last year. This was set to open in February, but Universal delayed it until June this summer - which is a good sign. Starring four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke in the most terrifying role of his career and introducing Mason Thames in his first ever film role, The Black Phone is produced, directed, co-written by filmmaker Scott Derrickson, also the writer / director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and Marvel's Doctor Strange. After being abducted by a child killer and locked in a soundproof basement, a 13-year-old boy starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer's previous victims. The cast also includes Jeremy Davies, Madeleine McGraw, J. Gaven Wilde, James Ransone, and E. Roger Mitchell.

The next nightmare-inducing Blumhouse horror movie is here.
Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Scott Derrickson’s “The Black Phone,” set to hit theaters on February 4.
Starring Ethan Hawke, the film follows an abducted boy locked in a basement stained with the blood of half a dozen other murdered children. In the cellar with him is a black, antique telephone with a disconnected cord. However, the phone rings at night with calls from the dead children, helping the boy plot his escape.
In the trailer, Hawke first appears in white face paint and a top hat, struggling with falling grocery bags beside a completely unsuspicious beat-up black van. He lures the film’s young lead (played by Mason Thames) with tales of being a part-time magician, and soon enough, viewers are then transported into the aforementioned murder basement. Finally, something scarier than the Covid-19 delta variant has come out of CinemaCon 2021.
Universal Pictures unveiled a packed trailer for its upcoming Blumhouse horror thriller “The Black Phone” on Wednesday, during a presentation to the annual convention of movie theater owners in Las Vegas.
Reuniting Ethan Hawke with his “Sinister” writer-director Scott Derrickson, the project is adapted from a short story by Joe Hill. Hawke delivers a bone-chilling performance as an unnamed villain, a character he said breaks with his “no bad guys” rule while introducing the clip.

Sienna Miller as Deb in American Woman. Photo Credit: Seacia Pavao. Courtesy of Roadside Attractions
Sienna Miller stars as a single mother in rural small town in Pennsylvania whose life is transformed by a tragic event. American Woman is both a character study and blue-collar family drama. It is the kind of human drama that some worry is being squeezed out of theaters by blockbuster action and superhero movies. The film follows the ups and downs in this working-class woman’s life over several years, but while it has length, it does not have as much depth, although it does treat the characters with respect. Sienna Miller turns in a fine performance but director Jake Scott never lets us really get inside the head of this American woman.
Deb Callahan (Miller) is a 32-year-old woman who still acts a bit like a teen, despite being the single parent of a teen herself.

2017-09-28T06:59:03-07:00Can Tom Cruise Beat 'Kingsman'?
There was a time when, if you were a movie, the last thing you wanted to do was go up against Tom Cruise at the box office. That time was long ago, however, and Cruise is far from a reliable box-office draw these days. This summer's The Mummy was a colossal flop domestically, and last year's Jack Reacher: Never Go Back did even worse. That's why Cruise's new movie, American Made, is unlikely to best the modestly successful Kingsman: The Golden Circle in its second weekend of release. It's not out of the question, actually, that Cruise could even lose out to a remake of the 1980 thriller Flatliners.

Tom Cruise isn't just appearing in The Mummy this year. There's the very different American Made, too. Here's the trailer...
With The Mummy landing in cinemas this week, Universal has taken the opportunity to launch the trailer for its next Tom Cruise project. Once known as Mena, it’s now called American Made, and sees Cruise reuniting with director Doug Liman, following their work on Edge Of Tomorrow.
It also looks like Cruise’s most interesting acting role in some time.
The film tells the story of a hustler by the name of Barry Seal – the character is based on a real person, even if the adventures around him use creative licence – who finds himself recruited by the CIA.
Here’s the trailer…
(Apparently, the Us version of the trailer doesn’t have drugs in it, fact fans).
And here’s the full synopsis for the movie…...

If you’re like us, one big Tom Cruise blockbuster a year just isn’t enough. Cruise may be headlining the start of a brand new franchise with The Mummy this coming weekend, but those who are lukewarm on the prospect may find more to like in his other venture coming out later this year, American Made. The film reunites him with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman, and shows him as a pilot given the opportunity to run a covert operation for the U.S. government.
Universal has now released a brand new trailer for the upcoming crime flick, and it looks to be pretty darn solid. If the names Cruise and Liman aren’t enough to sell you, the trailer itself may be. It looks to be a fun little ride in the vein of War Dogs, Lord of War, and Catch Me if You Can, which is a very good thing.
