Western sequels, like The Lost City of Gold, can expand upon the original with epic narratives and iconic stars. Films like Return of the Seven may not bring back all original cast members but still capture the magic of the original. Classics like Trinity Is Still My Name prove that Western sequels can balance comedy and action for a successful franchise.

Although there have been countless great Western movies over the years, this was not a genre well-known for boasting a lot of fantastic sequels. Whether it's because the nature of cowboys, gunslingers, and outlaws usually led to an early grave or because some of the best Westerns were based on fact, its rare to find a truly must-watch Western sequel. However, there were a select few Western sequels that lovers of the genre absolutely must check out that lived up to or even improved upon the original movie or source material.

Veteran actress Noreen Nash, who starred in the films The Big Fix and The Red Stallion and TV shows such as The Lineup and Yancy Derringer, has died. She was 99. Nash’s passing was confirmed by The Neptune Society, revealing that she died on Tuesday, June 6, in Sherman Oaks, California. No other details were provided. Born Norabelle Jean Roth on April 4, 1924, in Wenatchee, Washington, Nash started her show business career in 1942 after winning the Apple Blossom Queen competition in her hometown. From there, she was contacted by Bob Hope‘s agent Louis Shurr, who helped her get a contract with MGM as a showgirl. That same year, she worked as a model alongside Marilyn Monroe. She made her on-screen debut in 1943 in the musical film Girl Crazy, opposite Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. Noreen Nash, an actress who starred in the films The Bix Fix and The Red Stallion and had a small role in James Dean’s classic Giant, has died. She was 99.

The Neptune Society confirmed her June 6 death in Sherman Oaks but gave no other details.

Nash received a screen test after being crowned Apple Blossom Queen in her hometown of Wenatchee, Washington while she was still in high school. She began acting in the mid-1940s in several small, uncredited roles.

Her big break came in 1947, when Nash starred in The Big Fix, a film about a gambling ring fixing college basketball games. That led to roles in such films as The Red Stallion, Assigned to Danger, The Checkered Coat, and Phantom From Space, among other movies of the 1940s and ‘50s.

Noreen Nash, a starlet of the 1940s and ’50s who appeared in such notable films as The Southerner, Giant and The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold, has died. She was 99.

Nash died Tuesday of natural causes at her home in Beverly Hills, her oldest son, Lee Siegel Jr., told The Hollywood Reporter.

Nash worked on about two dozen features during her two-decade career, including several “B” pictures like Phantom From Space (1953), where she portrayed an abducted scientist in a movie shot at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.

The blue-eyed, dark-haired Nash also starred as the wife of an owner of a Palm Springs tennis club on the CBS summer replacement series The Charles Farrell Show — it stood in for I Love Lucy in 1956 — and appeared on episodes of Hopalong Cassidy, The Abbott and Costello Show, My Little Margie, Dragnet and 77 Sunset Strip.

Christa hosted an evening with Justin from the Academy Museum, from next door and French American producer Martine Melloul and me to watch the vintage film ‘Faust’.

Christa is my age, German born, and was a young actress in Paris when she met the director Sam Fuller. At 23 she married him and eventually they left Paris for the U.S. They had a daughter, Samantha and she has a daughter, Samia. Actor James Whitmore has died of lung cancer, aged 87.The Emmy and Tony award winning star was diagnosed with the illness in November and passed away on Friday afternoon at his home in Malibu, California.

Whitmore was famed for his one-man shows about former American presidents Harry Truman and Theodore Roosevelt.

He won a Tony Award in 1948 for his role in Broadway show Command Decision and in 1975 received an Academy Award nomination for best actor for his portrayal of Truman in Give 'em Hell, Harry!

He was also the recipient of an Emmy Award in 2000 as outstanding guest actor in drama series The Practice.

Whitmore starred in over 50 films throughout his career - most recently in 1994's critically acclaimed The Shawshank Redemption.

He is survived by his third wife, Noreen Nash, three sons and eight grandchildren.
