The future was looking bright for the late-night comedy show After Midnight, as it had previously secured a renewal for another season. Unfortunately for fans, it's been revealed that Season 3 won't be moving forward after all.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, After Midnight is set to end after its current second season. CBS confirmed that the final episodes of the show ill air in June with no third season in the works. Its 12:35 a.m. time slot hasn't found a new replacement at this time, and it's still unclear if the network will hold onto that hour, or if it will go back to local stations' programming. The show was recently renewed for Season 3, but After Midnight will instead conclude with Season 2 so its host, Taylor Tomlinson, can turn her focus back to her stand-up comedy.

That was the lighthearted opening to the otherwise serious statement Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien released to the public on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. In it, he had addressed the rumors that had been swirling since the previous Thursday, when the news leaked that Jay Leno’s short-lived, poorly-rated 10 p.m. talk show was being canceled by NBC and that the network was planning to move Leno back to his previous time slot of 11:35 p.m., where he’d hosted The Tonight Show for 17 years, most of them at number one in the ratings.
As for Conan, he, and The Tonight Show, would move to 12:05 a.m. It was a move that NBC felt was fair since Conan, with just seven months on the job as Tonight Show host, was still struggling to build his new audience.

After years of guest spots and smaller movie roles in the '90s, Timothy Olyphant established himself as one of Hollywood's go-to macho actors in the 2000s. His breakout came in 2004 when he was cast as Seth Bullock, the reluctant camp sheriff, in HBO's Deadwood, where his rugged good looks and hard-nosed demeanor made him a perfect fit for the western genre. After Deadwood's too-short run, he nabbed the role that would define his public persona for years: Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens in FX's Justified, a character he'd play for six seasons and a revival series in 2023.
Justified allowed Olyphant to express the full range of his talents, injecting his tough guy character with a dose of sly humor. Or at least, it seemed that way, until the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet showed a different side of the actor. Rather than a stone-cold badass, Olyphant's Santa Clarita character,...

While Julie Bowen might not see herself as a comedic performer, her performance in the Emmy-winning sitcom Modern Family tells a different story. Portraying the role of Clair Dunphy, the actress delivered some of the funniest and most memorable moments of the show, blending neurotic energy, impeccable timing, and heartfelt sincerity into her character.

While Clair is often considered one of the most ‘annoying’ characters on the show, it’s that very intensity that made her stand out, solidifying Bowen as one of the funniest characters in Modern Family, a recognition she truly deserves.

Lucille Ball was a great physical comedian, Conan O’Brien acknowledged back in 2016. But he told Carol Burnett that she was even better. “I think you surpassed her physicality in the things that you would try to do,” he said. “You were kind of fearless.”
Burnett was flattered, especially because no one had trained her in the art of pratfalls. “I taught myself to do stunts,” she confessed. “Nobody ever taught me how to do it, and I'm amazed I never broke a bone. I had a few bruises.”
The first big fall Burnett ever attempted was “back in the covered wagon days” on The Garry Moore Show. Neil Simon, still in his lowly TV comedy writer era, had written a sketch about nursery-rhyme stalwarts Jack and Jill. Everyone knows what happened to Jack — the dork fell down, broke his crown, that whole bit. A doctor character in the sketch asked Burnett,...

Known for portraying family dynamics in the modern world, one of the most beloved characters in the hit sitcom Modern Family has been Phil Dunphy, portrayed by Ty Burrell. Phil is adored for his kind and goofy nature and many fans also consider him an ideal husband, as he brings humor and warmth to the show.

"Saturday Night Live" is now in its 50th year of existence, which means the sketch comedy show will spend much of 2025 warmly celebrating its own broadcast legacy. Some of this is earned. Producer Lorne Michaels was in the right place at the right time to pull together an epochal collection of comedic talent in 1975, and it's astonishing to consider that the show has remained relevant through 10 U.S. presidencies and god knows how many shifts in the popular culture. Though many people still watch the show live, viewers who've other plans on Saturday night can wait until Sunday to read episode recaps at any number of websites (none better than Ethan Anderton's at /Film) and/or watch individual skits on YouTube. "SNL" isn't going anywhere — though, as a fan who's lived through its lowest lows (seasons 6 and 11 in particular), I feel like it's never been more mechanical than it is now.

Actress Julie Bowen is best known for her role as Claire Dunphy in Modern Family. She performed as the character for eleven seasons and even won two Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the sitcom. However, the actress revealed that she never thought she was funny.
The actress revealed in an interview that she was initially apprehensive about auditioning for comedic roles as she felt that she could never deliver on jokes. She also reportedly urged her agents not to send her to comedy auditions but they did not pay heed, debating that she was funny in a different way. She said she did not think Modern Family wanted her.

A common misconception among more casual "Family Guy" fans is that creator Seth MacFarlane is personally responsible for every single creative decision. Although he voices many of the characters, his presence in the writers' room is a lot lighter than one would think. He's mentioned in interviews that he hasn't written for "Family Guy" since around 2009, and even before that, he only officially wrote the scripts for three episodes. That's right: only three episodes in the show's entire 400+ episode run were penned by MacFarlane.
Of course, as any writer for a long-running sitcom will tell you, the writing for these shows is very collaborative. There'll often be one writer who receives credit for the episode, but the script will typically go through multiple revisions from the rest of the staff. I know from interviews with staff writers from "Rick and Morty" and "Futurama" that it's often hard for the staff...

Actor Will Ferrell returns as one of his most beloved characters, Buddy the Elf, but sadly it’s not in a sequel. Instead, the Barbie star took the Christmas icon out into the real world, slipping into his yellow and green elf outfit while attending the LA Kings ice hockey game over the weekend. While fans will no doubt have sighed with disappointment that the return of Buddy is not in Elf 2, it will surely please everyone to see the elf looking grumpy, disheveled, and with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Which is not exactly how we imagined the cheerful elf after all these years.

The Masked Singer season 12 was the best in the show's history, and there are several reasons why it surpassed every other installment of the mystery celebrity singing competition series. The Masked Singer season 12 welcomed back adored host Nick Cannon, along with beloved panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora. Rita took Nicole Scherzinger's place on the panel for the second season in a row, while Nicole starred as Norma Desmond in Broadway's Sunset Boulevard.
The Masked Singer season 12 welcomed three groups to the competition, who competed in several different theme nights. With the holiday season in full swing, people are watching their favorite Christmas classics, like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Miracle on 34th Street, Die Hard, and others. A more recent classic is Elf, the unexpected 2003 hit film starring Will Ferrell and directed by Jon Favreau. It's a highly quotable movie and full of fun and memorable scenes. One was supposed to be a quick, one-liner moment that ended up becoming a fan favorite. But Favreau had to fight to keep the scene in after the producers wanted to cut it.
The scene in question is when Buddy Elf (Ferrell) is sent to the mailroom by his biological father, Walter (played memorably by James Caan) to essentially get out of the way. While there, Buddy meets the way-older-than-he-looks "Mailroom Guy," played by character actor Mark Acheson. The moment between Buddy and Mailroom Guy was supposed to be short, but it grew into a hilarious,...

The Masked Singer has featured some of the most iconic singers, including season 12's most recent winners Boyz II Men (Buffalos) and runner-up Mario (Wasp), but I wish the show would have a whole season of non-professional singers. The Masked Singer premiered in January 2019, with host Nick Cannon and panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger. During season 11, Rita Ora took Nicole's place on the panel while the latter star was busy with other commitments.
The Masked Singer has had twelve winners so far--T-Pain (Monster), Wayne Brady (Fox), Kandi Burruss (Night Angel), LeAnn Rimes (Sun), Nick Lachey (Piglet), Jewel (Queen of Hearts), Teyana Taylor (Firefly), Amber Riley (Harp), Bishop Briggs (Medusa), Ne-Yo (Cow), Vanessa Hudgens (Goldfish), and Boyz II Men (Buffalos)--and all of them are professional singers in some capacity. Jenny McCarthy seems pretty sold on Jason Derulo, Robin Thicke is leaning towards Anthony Ramos and Ken Jeong would stake his doctorate degree on Usher.

Spoiler Alert: Details follow for Season 12, Episode 11 of “The Masked Singer,” “Semi Finals: Final Three,” which aired Wednesday, December 11 on Fox.

Detective Hailey Upton is no longer helping the Intelligence Unit solve cases on Chicago Pd, but her portrayer, Tracy Spiridakos, is seemingly continuing the character's legacy in her next project. Spiridakos joined the cast of Chicago Pd near the end of its fourth season to replace Sophia Bush's Detective Erin Lindsay. Upton went on to become a fan-favorite character over the course of Spiridakos' eight seasons and 140 episodes on the NBC police procedural TV series. After more than 15 years, Judy Greer is reflecting on her decision not to audition for Modern Family.
The actress recently noted that she “didn’t even want kids” at the time, so the opportunity to play mom Claire Dunphy (which ultimately went to Julie Bowen) on the ABC sitcom and become “America’s mom” wasn’t appealing to her.
“This was a time in my career when I was starting to [play moms],” she told Bowen’s co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his Dinner’s On Me podcast.
“It sounds so silly to say it out loud now, but I’ll be honest. In a movie, I would have a kid. And then there was this opportunity to audition where I would have three kids, one of them in high school,” added Greer. “And on a TV show… and you do have to think of these things in success, and obviously Modern Family was a huge success.

More than 20 years after it was released in theaters, Elf (2003) is still bringing joy to kids of all ages every holiday season. “Buddy the Elf” himself Will Ferrell told People recently that he was “so lucky” to have made the Jon Favreau-directed film and that it will always remain close to his heart.
“It’s really quite special,” said Ferrell, a six-time Emmy Award winner for his iconic Christmas film that also starred Zooey Deschanel, Bob Newhart, James Caan, Ed Asner, Amy Sedaris, Peter Dinklage, Kyle Gass, and Andy Richter. “I mean, it continues to grow by leaps and bounds, and it continues to entrench itself as a kind of holiday classic for people. I’m so lucky to have a movie like that in my catalog,” Ferrell added.
