When you think of Gilmore Girls, a few things come to mind: coffee, Lorelai and Rory, maybe Yale or Chilton, and Friday Night Dinners. The concept of Friday Night Dinners was introduced as part of the deal that Lorelai (Lauren Graham) made with her parents, Richard (Ed Herrmann) and Emily (Kelly Bishop), for them to help pay for Rory's (Alexis Bledel) private school tuition. Emily tells Lorelai in the pilot that, in addition to having a financial role in their lives, she wanted an active role. And thus, Friday Night Dinners were born. Throughout seven seasons, almost every episode featured one of these dinner scenes.

Even if an actor stays with a show from the pilot to the finale, there's bound to be episodes or even entire plotlines that they don't agree with. When Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham appeared on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, the Lorelai Gilmore actress revealed the one plotline she struggled to get behind. "There’s a year when Alexis [Bledel] and I — Rory and Lorelai — are in a fight for a long time and we would talk about it, and Amy [Sherman-Palladino] was like, 'You know you can’t do a show for this long and not have conflict.'" The plotline in question took place at the end of Season 5 and lasted through part of Season 6 but for fans who had watched the "freakishly close" mother-daughter duo, the moments leading up to their eventual reconciliation felt like an eternity. Graham goes on to say:

The actress who played the beloved Lorelai Gilmore on the hit show, which ran for seven seasons from 2000-07, was the latest guest on the Call Her Daddy podcast. At one point, host Alex Cooper asked which storyline from the series “was a little hard for you to get behind.”

The WB series Gilmore Girls, created by Dan and Amy Sherman Palladino, continues to be one of those bingeable shows, in the ranks with Friends, The Office, and Parks & Rec. The series ran for seven seasons, starring Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore and Alexis Bledel as her daughter, Rory Gilmore. The ensemble included Kelly Bishop, Ed Herrmann, Sean Gunn, Keiko Agena, Liza Weil, Rose Abdoo, and more. Abdoo played Gypsy, the lovable and sarcastic local mechanic throughout seven seasons of Gilmore Girls, plus a revival on Netflix, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Juggling character development in an ensemble cast is a major undertaking. When it came to the hit WB show Gilmore Girls, the focus was of course, on Lauren Graham's Lorelai Gilmore and Alexis Bledel's Rory Gilmore. The mother-daughter dynamic was the main driving force of the Amy Sherman Palladino-created show, but there were also moments with Lorelai and Rory's extended family that fans got to see grow and develop over the course of seven seasons. Lorelai had a complicated relationship with her parents after running away with a newborn Rory when she was just a teenager. Played by Kelly Bishop and Ed Herrmann, Emily and Richard Gilmore re-entered Lorelai's life when she needed money for Rory's private school tuition.
Initially flat, stuck-up characters, Emily and Richard also grew tremendously across seven seasons, along with their relationships with both Lorelai and Rory. When speaking with Collider's Taylor Gates at PaleyFest,...

One of Netflix's longest-running IPs on its streaming service is Gilmore Girls. The hit WB series has been on the streamer for more than 10 years, ready for fans both old and new to head to Stars Hollow, Connecticut and watch Lorelail Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) live out the tagline "Life's short. Talk fast." Fans would be surprised however, to find out that such even with such a long time on the streamer, the cast does not rake in the dough from the countless binge-watches. Graham, who played the lead role, says that she receives "no residuals" from the hit series. She tells Jimmy Kimmel on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live that's in spite of the fact that "We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB." Graham goes on to say "There really are no residuals on Netflix. But I’ve been paid in love.

The entertainment community recently lost an icon when the legendary Gene Hackman died at the age of 95. While there are still some unknowns surrounding his death, no one is disputing his status as a Hollywood legend. The French Connection, Superman, The Poseidon Adventure, Unforgiven, Hoosiers, The Firm, and The Royal Tenenbaums are just a few of his acclaimed works. But there's one title that's far less well-known, and it was Hackman's final film prior to retirement.
Hackman's last onscreen appearance was in 2004's Welcome to Mooseport. He played a former President of the United States who retired to a small town in Maine and befriended a local handyman, played by Ray Romano. Welcome to Mooseport was a critical and commercial failure, and it did not deserve to be Hackman's last outing. But was its underperformance the reason for his retirement? Or were there other factors that led to him leaving the spotlight?...

Even after so many years, Gilmore Girlsmaintains a significant following, and it's easy to see why. Full of charm, unique characters, and humor, there's a lot to enjoy about the series. The story follows Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel), showing off their idealized relationship where they are friends as well as mother and daughter. However, Gilmore Girls highlights different dynamics between parents and children. Besides Lorelai and Rory's "best friends" arrangement, there is Lorelai and Emily's (Kelly Bishop) challenging interactions, Mrs. Kim's (Emily Kuroda) overly strict rules for Lane (Keiko Agena), and even Luke (Scott Patterson) and April's (Vanessa Marano) attempt to connect after being kept apart. Yet one of the most intriguing and often under-explored is Lorelai's relationship with her father, Richard (Edward Herrmann).

Richie Rich, the 1994 comedy starring Macaulay Culkin, is a streaming success. The film, currently available on the Netflix library, has spent a few days on the streamer's top 10 list of most popular movies. Richie Rich is sitting in the eighth spot at the time of writing, while other titles on the list include The Menu, Back in Action, and How to Train Your Dragon 2.
Directed by Donald Petrie, Richie Rich is based on the comic book character of the 1950s. The character also had an animated cartoon show in the 1980s, which was then revived in 1996 after the release of the movie. Richie Rich only made $76 million from a $40 million production budget and had a mixed reception by critics; it currently has a 27% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Although it was considered a box office flop, Richie Rich blew up the home video market and made an estimated $125 million in home video sales.

There are few shows as cozy and endlessly re-watchable as Gilmore Girls. This is largely thanks to the warm, fantastical atmosphere offered by the main setting of Stars Hollow and the lovable characters that inhabit it. While there are ongoing plots across its 7 seasons, the main appeal of them all is to see Lorelai, Rory, and the important people in their lives laugh, cry, and get into drama together.

Teen dramas have been popular with viewers, old and young, for many years, and the 1990s and early 2000s were the heyday of the genre. With networks dedicated to telling these stories, actors were thrust into the spotlight at a very young age. These new stars were given a variety of topics to cover in their respective shows, from teen romance shows to supernatural teen dramas, and some of them aged better than others. Of course, when watching a show from 20 or 30 years ago, it stands to reason that the storytelling won't be the same. Still, it's important to have conversations about how some of the most beloved TV characters handled things.
While it's important to be able to express oneself creatively, some level of self-awareness and respect is imperative. A lot of teen shows wanted to be edgy, subversive, and took on topics like teen LGBTQ+ representation, sexual assault,...

Though many character exits on TV have disappointed me, some are so unfair, mean-spirited, or poorly written that they bring out my righteous indignation. Because all shows end, every character will eventually leave the audience. Like many people, I become emotionally invested in my favorite TV characters, wanting them to thrive and be happy. When done right, endings feel earned and fit the established characterizations and storylines.
Unfortunately, writers sometimes rob great characters of happy endings, leaving them in terrible situations they don’t deserve. If a character’s unhappy ending is written to reflect the bitterness of reality, the drastic and unpopular choices are more forgivable because of their deeper purpose within the narrative. However, often, the betrayal of an unhappy ending is sometimes too much to bear, and I can’t help but feel angry.

Gilmore Girls is a comedy drama series that follows a young, diligent student named Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) who lives with her single mother Lorelai (Lauren Graham) in the small Connecticut town of Stars Hollow. When Rory gets accepted into a prestigious prep school, Chilton, Lorelai must go to her wealthy parents, Richard (Edward Herrmann) and Emily (Kelly Bishop), for help with paying her tuition. Lorelai has been estranged from her parents since she got pregnant at 16, and her parents see this ask as a way to be a part of her and Rory's life again. So, in exchange for Richard and Emily paying for Rory's tuition, they ask Lorelai and Rory to join them weekly for dinner.

Richard Gilmore is a character of depth, dignity, and complexity in Gilmore Girls, representing traditional values pitted against the pressures of family expectations. Played by Edward Herrmann, Richard was a grounding force in the Gilmore family, embodying an era of old-school charm and conservative principles that often clashed with the modern, independent spirit of his daughter, Lorelai. As a father, husband, and grandfather, Richards relationships with the women in his life were complicated, shaped by both love and friction, loyalty and misunderstanding. His connection to Lorelai, in particular, was ripe with generational differences that challenged their family dynamic, providing a rich layer of tension throughout the series.
Over the course of Gilmore Girls, Richards character arc is defined by growth, introspection, and vulnerability, reflecting the nuanced journey of a man who is both a protector of family tradition and an evolving figure within it. When it comes to must-watch television for the holidays, there is no better choice than Gilmore Girls. The show follows single mom Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel). The pair have a charming relationship, feeling more like best friends than typical mother and daughter, a complete juxtaposition to Lorelai's relationship with her own parents, Richard (Edward Herrmann) and Emily (Kelly Bishop) Gilmore.

In movies, there are often genre-driven stories that don't need and don't have any romance, while even television series that are not about love frequently use the narrative device of introducing love interests. Whether it's a romantic show or not, writers create couples as part of an overarching storyline that sometimes demands the characters break up. But, for the audience invested in the development of the relationship, it's disappointing to feel like a TV couple's narrative potential was wasted. At the same time, some viewers also feel like certain TV romances end too soon simply because the couple is doing great when a tragedy sets them apart.

TV shows with complex and thought-provoking storylines are often held up as the best of the medium, but there's something special about series that enable viewers to turn their brains off while they're watching them. Prestige television like Breaking Bad and Succession requires audiences to pay attention to every little detail, as even the smallest one can come back later in the story and it won't necessarily be spelled out for viewers. And it's no secret that fantasy and sci-fi series demand effort from the people watching them; there's no other way they'd remember all the world-building elements.
It's great to experience TV shows that force viewers to put work in, but simpler series are just as important to the television landscape. When audiences want to unwind in front of their televisions, it's these shows they'll turn to. Most of them still tackle important or serious subjects, but they do...

For the first time since 2006, every current Best Drama Guest Actor Emmy nominee is new to the category. The seemingly unflappable leader of the pack is general first-timer Néstor Carbonell of “Shōgun,” whose expected victory could be one of 22 for the freshman series, the 1980 limited version of which took three out of a possible 12 TV academy prizes.
Carbonell’s strongest competitor is John Turturro (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”), who has an advantage in this race in that he won the corresponding comedy award for “Monk” two decades ago. Also in the running are former limited series supporting nominees Paul Dano (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”) and Jonathan Pryce (“Slow Horses”) as well as Emmys newcomer Tracy Letts, whose “Winning Time” bid came as a surprise to most predictors.
In order to determine whether Carbonell truly has this contest sewn up, let’s take a closer look at each nominee. Be sure...

While horror remakes are inevitable, its rare that international filmmakers are hired to helm American remakes of their originals. Even fewer filmmakers get to make not one, but Two movies about sentient killer elevators (Killovators? Murdervators?). Lucky for us, Dick Maas laughs in the face of convention. His feature debut, The Lift, is a zany 1980s concoction of A.I. paranoia and cable-attached monsters, kickstarting his career as an odd duckling who cherishes a proper B-Movie script. Movies like Amsterdamned, Prey (aka Uncaged), and Sint would further cement his audacious brand of metropolitan nightmares that treat midnight movie storylines with higher prestige, only adding to the Dutchman’s legacy.
Maas’ The Lift might seem like a strange choice for an American remake—a procedural thriller about corrupt elevator companies—but it’s hailed as one of the Netherlands’ premiere horror imports. Imagine an episode of The Twilight Zone with more...

Everything's fair in love and war, and romance as a genre often pushes boundaries. Love is a part of almost every show genre, be it fantasy, drama, or suspense, and fans enjoy watching these love stories play out over seasons. However, even the most beloved romances on TV can be questionable, mainly because the people involved in these entanglements make controversial decisions.
Some have good intentions, but their actions play out in poor form. Others tend to have nefarious intentions from the beginning, but their characters are compelling for audiences to watch. From You to House of the Dragon, these romantic interests were popular but controversial.

TV shows have disrespected characters through poor writing, such as inconsistent characterization and unrealistic storylines. Even the best shows have seen popular characters decline in relatability and appeal due to disrespectful treatment. Retcons in TV are detrimental to characters, as seen in instances where past events were altered, leading to confusing and disappointing character arcs.
Although TV shows have always been relatively supportive of their main characters, some disrespected them far too often. TV show characters have frequently been scorned by their writers in several ways, such as giving them poor or inconsistent characterization, storylines that made little sense, or ruining their arcs with retcons or backstory alterations. Retcons in TV have notably caused the downfall of characters, mainly because their past and present became so complex that it was hard to remember what was canonical or not.

During its run on The WB (and The CW) from 2000-2007, "Gilmore Girls" emerged as one of TV's most beloved teen drama shows, eventually finding a second life on Netflix. It was lauded for its rapid-fire banter laden with pop culture references, its quaint New England charm, and its quirky characters. All of this was held together by the unshakeable bond between Lorelai and Rory Gilmore — more like the best of friends than mother and daughter.
Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, "Gilmore Girls" has since become the ultimate cozy watch, especially during Pumpkin Spice Latte season. The series takes us through Ivy League ambitions, boyfriend troubles, and some of the greatest will-they-or-won't-they? romantic tension of all time, between the bubbly, perpetually-caffeinated Lorelai and grumpy diner owner Luke Danes.
But, "Oy with the poodles already!" If you're reading this list, you already know what "Gilmore Girls" is all about, so let's start ranking the seasons.

When it comes to the race to win an Emmy, there will be a collective buzz around the award’s 60+ categories until Sept. 15 when we find out who gets the gold.
Arguably one of the most highly competitive awards doesn’t happen at the main event but the weekend before at the Creative Arts ceremony. That’s when the winners in the four guest performer categories (which include guest actor and actress in both comedy and drama genres) are awarded for a one-time or re-curring role. (Think Jamie Lee Curtis’ two-episode performance on FX’s “The Bear” — a likely candidate.)
In looking back at early precursors, this award has quite a checkered past with numerous category name changes and head-scratching nominee groupings over the years. For example, in 1977, the bracket was called outstanding single appearance in a comedy or drama series. There was no separation by genre, so nominees included...

Despite coming out over 20 years ago, Gilmore Girls remains consistently popular, and it's no wonder why. Full of humor, charm, and intriguing characters, the series earns its status as a beloved cult classic. The show explores the lives of the Gilmore family, particularly the freakishly close mother and daughter Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel). Beginning when Rory is in high school, Gilmore Girls follows her as she grows up in the small, picturesque town of Stars Hallow. Though the Gilmores always have things going on, especially when Lorelai's overbearing parents, Richard (Edward Herrmann) and Emily (Kelly Bishop), get involved, some of the best characters lie outside the titular family. The many side characters make the show the quirky story it is, and from Sean Gunn's Kirk to Melissa McCarthy's Sookie, the supporting cast members are integral to the show.

Gilmore Girls featured several common occurrences across every episode of the series. Lorelai and Rory certainly had their routines, but the show included several themes and tropes throughout the seven-season run. Many of the elements became Gilmore Girls' best long-running gags.
Like any good TV show, Gilmore Girls had certain tropes that cropped up in every episode. The hit show, which ran from 2000 to 2007, engaged audiences with the story of Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), in the town of Stars Hollow. In 2016, the show returned for one season of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which joined the mother-and-daughter duo nearly a decade after the ending of Gilmore Girls. In every season of Gilmore Girls, there were common occurrences, but some elements of the show made it into every single episode, too.

Emily Gilmore tried to control Rory like she did Lorelai, leading to tension and distance in their relationship. Emily's pettiness and grudge-holding made her an engaging character, always ready to deliver a cutting remark. Despite her flaws, Emily always believed she was acting in her family's best interests, showing her love in her own flawed way.
Emily Gilmore is the Gilmore girl who started it all in Gilmore Girls, and though Rory and Lorelai rarely took her seriously, Emily was a complex character and a force to be reckoned with. There are harsh realities about all of the women of the Gilmore family, and Emily often faced the harshest criticism because Lorelai and Rory frequently villainized her. While some aspects of her character deserve critique, she was never one-dimensional and cared about her family above all else.

Actor Scott Patterson suggests ideas for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life season 2, including Lorelai and Luke having kids, Jess running a gym, and Rory working as the editor of the Stars Hollow Gazette. Patterson's idea could introduce a new generation of children to fill the gap now that Rory is an adult, allowing for an exploration of different dynamics within the Gilmore Girls family. The potential conflict between Lorelai and Rory's parenting styles, as well as Luke and Lorelai navigating their relationship with kids, could create interesting storylines and character growth in a second season.

The mask and collectible makers at Trick or Treat Studios have given sneak previews of many of the new masks that will be part of their 2024 product line-up, including revivals of Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees masks from the ’80s and ’90s and masks of Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patric’s characters David and Michael from Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys (watch it Here)! An image of these masks can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Scripted by Janice Fischer, Jeffrey Boam, and James Jeremias, The Lost Boys has the following synopsis: Teenage brothers Michael and Sam move with their mother to a small town in northern California. While the younger Sam meets a pair of kindred spirits in geeky comic-book nerds Edward and Alan, the angst-ridden Michael soon falls for Star — who turns out to be in thrall to David, leader of a local gang of vampires.

Every school has that certain teacher who is a bully, heartless and at times sadistic. Everyone must take their class, but no one finishes the course unscathed. Paul Hunham (Paul Giamatti) of Alexander Payne’s acclaimed comedy-drama “The Holdovers” is one such instructor. Set in 1970, “The Holdovers” revolves around the by-the-books classics professor teaching at the same New England boarding school he had attended. Hunham is hated by his students, as well as his fellow teachers. And he’s also in hot water, after he failed one of the school’s largest donor’s son in his class. During the Christmas break, he is forced to supervise the “holdovers — -the students who for various reasons must stay on campus. He ends up sharing the holidays with one troubled student (Dominic Sessa) whose mother recently remarried; and the cafeteria administrator (Da’Vine Joy Randolph) grieving her only son’s death in the Vietnam War.

Patrick Wilson is no stranger to the horror genre, having starred in the likes of three Conjuring movies and three Insidious movies (one of which he directed), among other things – but I never would have predicted that his name would be attached to a stage musical adaptation of Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys (watch it Here). Especially not as a producer. But producing a The Lost Boys stage musical is exactly what Wilson is doing, according to Deadline.
