Exclusive: Amazon Prime Video is eying a UK version of hit format Lol: Last One Laughing.
Deadline understands the streamer has been scoping out indies to produce the UK version over the past few weeks via an informal tender process, with that process now in its final stages. The show is yet to be greenlit and we understand no final decision will be made until the format launches next year in Ireland, a version that is being helmed by one of the UK’s top presenters, Graham Norton. Trevor Noah, meanwhile, is down to host the upcoming South African version following his Daily Show exit.

Production has begun in Brisbane, Australia, on dramatic comedy film “A Savage Christmas.”
The story is that of a trans woman who, after years of estrangement, returns home for Christmas with her new boyfriend. Expecting her transition to be the focus, it is instead overshadowed by family secrets and lies which threaten not only their lives but another Christmas lunch.
The film is written, directed and produced by feature debutant Madeleine Dyer, who has pitched it as stylistically resembling “Death at a Funeral” and “Silver Linings Playbook.” Screen Australia’s head of content Grainne Brunsdon said the film “blends off-beat humor while reflecting our nation’s diversity.” Dyer co-wrote the screenplay with Daniel Mulvihill and Max Jahufer.
The film is also the debut production from Roaring Entertainment, a newly formed company by Brisbane-based producers Ben McNeill and Mulvihill.

TV presenter Kate Humble and comedian Jason Byrne have been confirmed as presenters for Sky1's new wildlife-themed entertainment programme Wild Things.
The gameshow, which was commissioned in August, features couples or pairs of relations undertaking challenges on a huge woodland obstacle course in order to win a fortune of gold coins buried within the Wild Wood.
However, there is a twist in that one member of the team must become the Wild Thing, meaning they must wear a woodland protection suit which is designed to look like an animal native to the area, such as an owl, a duck or a mole.
This means that they cannot see anything and will need their partner to guide them to victory.
Humble said of her role: "Wild Things is one of the most gloriously silly, side-splittingly funny programmes I have ever had the pleasure of being involved with. Wildlife has never behaved so badly.

"I'm a big fan of lots of different types of TV. I think Dara [Ó Briain] is an exceptional performer," he said.
"He's just a great comedic mind, brilliant guy, and I think the show's great. What's not to like?
"I think there's always that thing of anyone in comedy can go, 'Oh, it was better in the old days when Frankie [Boyle] and Russell [Howard] were on it'.

Noble called the programme "terrible" and took issue with its lack of improvisation and "pages and pages" of scripts used by the panellists.

Another week, another load of great telly to sink your teeth into. In addition to all the seriously sensational shows below, we're looking forward to Channel 4's '80s night extravaganza on Friday, September 20 as well.
The nostalgic tribute to the era that taste forgot kicks off with a revamp of Celebrity Fifteen to One hosted by Adam Hills at 8pm, followed by retro editions of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown at 9pm and Alan Carr's Chatty Man at 10pm, before Rewind The Tube, a documentary dedicated to the anarchic music show, closes everything at 11.05pm.
Father Figure: Wednesday (September 18) at 10.35pm on BBC One
It started life as a Radio 2 programme, but Father Figure - which stars comedian Jason Byrne as a disaster-prone dad - seems perfectly suited to the small screen, where the slapstick and silliness can be played out in all its glory.

Judy Davis has joined Kate Winslet on The Dressmaker, which has received backing from Screen Australia and is Jocelyn Moorhouse’s first film since 1997.
The board of Screen Australia has approved financing of The Dressmaker, which marks the return of Jocelyn Moorhouse to the director’s chair for the first time in 15 years.
The film will star Kate Winslet, as first reported by ScreenDaily in May, and Judy Davis in “a gothic tale of love, revenge and haute couture”
Written and directed by Moorhouse, it marks her return to filmmaking since Michelle Pfeiffer drama A Thousand Acres in 1997.
“Kate only makes two or three pictures a year and gets sent hundreds of scripts,” producer Sue Maslin (Japanese Story) told ScreenDaily. “She chose The Dressmaker because of Jocelyn’s stunning script.”
The film, set in the 1950s, tells the story of a talented couture dressmaker who returns home from Europe to a small town in country Australia with revenge...

Price comparison site iSelect has launched a trio of new TV ads – one mocking advertisers ambushing the Olympics.
“Every four years it’s the same story. Companies that have nothing to do with the Games jumping on the bandwagon,” says Mr iSelect in the ad, played by actor Jason Geary.
The ad premiered during Nine’s coverage of the 2012 London Olympic Games opening ceremony.
The second of the batch, created by Ajf Partnership Melbourne and directed by Tony Rogers, suggests that it can be cheaper for Australians to have health insurance than not, in a school-yard style pitting of nerds versus cool kids.
The third spot sees Mr iSelect explain how iSelect finds the right health insurance to his apprentice Josh in the iSelect canteen by eating Josh’s chips.
The ads come just days after iSelect’s Cmo David May was announced as the CEO of national rugby league franchise the Gold Coast Titans.

In the interview, Shannon first speaks about his role in Take Shelter and is then quizzed about playing General Zod ion Man Of Steel. He once again expresses his admiration for Terence Stamp's original portrayal and then in response to being teased about Superman 2's incarnation of The Phantom Zone (basically the 3 evil kryptonians trapped in a spinning triangle) he says that the new "set up will be a little different" This at least suggests that we will see The Phantom Zone in some form in the movie. It's a shame Shannon didn't get the chance to elaborate on anything as Jason Byrne the annoying Irish "comedian" beside him seemed intent on hogging every bit of spotlight he could. Thanks to the Man Of Steel Facebook page for the heads up, click the link below to pay em a visit. And thanks to ComicBuzz for the Youtube upload.

It's been almost a year since we heard anything about Killing Bono. Last time we checked in on the film, Nick Hamm was about to direct [1] Ben Barnes, Krysten Ritter, Robert Sheehan, Charlie Cox and Jason Byrne in the movie based on Neil McCormick's book about being in a band that struggled in the shadow of U2 during the mega-band's formative years. Now the film is done and there is a trailer, which you can see after the break. The story is classic stuff: Neil McCormick (Ben Barnes) and his brother Ivan (Robert Sheehan) had a band in Dublin as U2 was coming up, and while they did well, eventually (sooner rather than later, it would appear) they were eclipsed by Bono & Co. From this presentation, Killing Bono looks cute and maybe a bit breezy and fun, if also a bit inconsequential. But its only a trailer, so who knows.

We've written briefly before about Killing Bono, a film based on the book by Neil McCormick. The author was a schoolmate of Bono's, and had his own band struggling in the shadow of U2 in megaband's early days. Directed by Nick Hamm, the film stars Ben Barnes as McCormick and Krysten Ritter in a tale that probably isn't nearly as close to a U2 biopic as many are going to assume. Come on -- it's called Killing Bono! This is hardly the official story of U2. Hamm's version of McCormick's novel, based on a script by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, starts shooting next week. A few more cast members have been added: Robert Sheehan, as McCormick's brother Ivan, with whom he forms a band, for one. Then Charlie Cox and Jason Byrne are in the mix, too. Rather than a film about U2, what this should be is...
