Appofeniacs is a riff on the term “apophenia” which is the tendency to find connections or patterns in things that are unrelated or random — common examples being confirmation bias and paranoia. This marks the feature debut for Piliero, who is known for his music video work with Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Kesha, and The Black Keys (for which he won an MTV VMA).

A spinoff of “The Neighborhood” starring Marcel Spears and Sheaun McKinney is in the works at CBS, Variety has confirmed.

The multi-cam series, should it move forward, will follow their characters Marty and Malcolm Butler as they venture out of their parents’ home and migrate from Pasadena to Venice Beach. The show does not yet have a series order but is being considered for the 2025-2026 broadcast season.

This would be the second spinoff of “The Neighborhood,” which is currently airing its seventh season. The series stars Max Greenfield as Dave Johnson, a white, Michigan dad who moves his family into a predominantly Black neighborhood in Los Angeles. Not everyone appreciates his “Midwestern niceness,” including Calvin Butler (Cedric the Entertainer). Spears and McKinney play Marty and Malcolm, Calvin’s sons.

CBS is looking to turn another successful sitcom into a full-blown franchise.

The network is developing an offshoot of its long-running comedy The Neighborhood that would spin off Malcolm (Sheaun McKinney) and Marty (Marcel Spears). The mothership’s Season 7 finale will serve as a backdoor pilot and introduce three new characters who would join Calvin and Tina’s sons as they venture out on their own. Sources tell TVLine that the trio consists of a socially inept tech millionaire, a wannabe influencer and a content generator for a SoCal cannabis shop.

New cast members have been revealed for the upcoming horror thriller Night Patrol. Among them is Cm Punk, one of WWE's biggest stars who also happens to be experienced as a horror genre actor.

Jermaine Fowler, Dermot Mulroney, Rj Cyler, Freddie Gibbs, Yg, Flying Lotus, Jon Oswald, and Nicki Micheaux will also star in the upcoming Night Patrol.

In the horror-thriller, “An LAPD officer (Jermaine Fowler) must put aside his differences with the area’s street gangs when he discovers a local police task force is harboring a horrific secret that endangers the residents of the housing projects he grew up in.”

THR reports, “David S. Goyer and Keith Levine are producing via the duo’s Phantom Four banner. Also producing is Josh Goldbloom, known for the recent V/H/S horror entries. James Harris and Mark Lane of Tea Shop Films (47 Meters Down) are also producing the movie, which wrapped principal photography in Los Angeles this week.

TVLine can exclusively reveal that Emmy Award-winning actor Glynn Turman (A Different World, The Wire, In Treatment) has been cast as Otis, father of Tichina Arnold’s Tina Butler. He’ll appear as part of a two-episode arc during Season 7, and make his debut in Episode 6 (which is currently penciled in for early December).

The Tracy Morgan-led spinoff of The Neighborhood at Paramount+ continues to add to its cast.

Adrian Martinez, Braxton Paul and Finn Maloney have joined Crutch, which stars Morgan as Francois Crutchfield, aka Crutch, a Harlem shop owner — and cousin of The Neighborhood’s Calvin Butler (Cedric the Entertainer) whose life is upended when his adult children move back in with him. The show’s cast also includes Jermaine Fowler and Adrianna Mitchell as Crutch’s kids and Kecia Lewis as his sister-in-law.

Martinez (Unfrosted, ABC’s Stumptown) will recur as Flaco, Crutch’s childhood best friend, most loyal confidant and general manager of Crutch’s flooring shop. Fun-loving, optimistic and chatty, he is the yin to Crutch’s yang.

Developed by Owen Smith, who will serve as showrunner, Crutch centers on Francois “Frank” Crutchfield (Morgan), who goes by “Crutch,” is a brash, yet beloved Harlem shop owner whose world is turned upside down when his highbrow son (Jermaine Fowler) and free-spirited daughter (Adrianna Mitchell) move back into the family home.

In Monsieur Spade, Clive Owen plays Sam Spade the private detective at the heart of 1941's The Maltese Falcon but the AMC series isn't the actor's only contemporary noir series that's worth watching. A few months before Monsieur Spade's premiere, Owen appeared in Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij's A Murder at the End of the World, a psychological thriller that sees the actor in a much different, though equally compelling, role. Seemingly, Monsieur Spade, the stealth Maltese Falcon sequel, might have made a bigger splash for the actor, especially since he's tasked with channeling Hollywood icon Humphrey Bogart.

Like any good continuation, Monsieur Spade reveals what happened after Maltese Falcon, with Owen's version of the private detective relocating to an estate in rural France.
