During the Marvel Comics event Blood Hunt, Spider-Man (Miles Morales) was turned into a vampire by Blade, who we later find out was possessed by Varnae. After the crossover ended, Miles remained a vampire. After he fails to control his bloodlust, Misty Knight calls a favor with T’Challa, the Black Panther.
T’Challa gives Miles some techniques and a vibranium suit to help keep his desire for blood down while still being able to use his venom powers. However, that wasn’t enough, so T’Challa takes Spidey to the Soul Tree, Bishiya Ruhi in Wakanda. While there, Spider-Man is confronted by Bast and his god, Anansi. With their help, Miles is cured of his vampirism, but it comes with a price: Anansi is now along for the ride in Miles’ head to learn stories from his perspective.

Samuel Olayinka and Ying Gao will be introduced in Lck on Thursday, right after the Top Chef season premiere episode airs on Bravo. Even the best chef is bound to have bad days, so the web series serves as a chance for redemption for eliminated chefs. Once they pack their knives and go on the main show, they arrive in Lck for a lightning-fast head-to-head battle. If they win enough of those, eventually they'll be invited back to compete on the Bravo series.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law ended up being a surprisingly divisive Disney+ TV series, though there's no denying that the visual effects weren't quite where they needed to be.
Then, there was the fourth-wall-breaking finale which failed to deliver the tie-ins to the wider MCU fans expected. Perhaps the biggest surprise was just how upset some viewers were with the sight of She-Hulk twerking with Megan Thee Stallion in a post-credits scene.
Reflecting on the unexpected team-up at San Antonio's Superhero Comic Con this weekend, actress Tatiana Maslany said (via @AgentsFandom), "I had been to multiple Megan Thee Stallion concerts before this. I was ready. That was the greatest moment of my life."
Talking about working with Mark Ruffalo, she added, "There was only fun moments with Mark. He's such a joy. He really is just a big kid in the best way. And he also shows up every day like 'I don’t know,...

“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” marked a turning point for many fans. While critics praised the show, fans largely panned it, citing issues with the story and overall feel.
The show stood out for several reasons. It never attempted to be anything other than light-hearted feminist fun. However, this approach came at a high cost, making it the most expensive project per episode to date, which significantly reduces the likelihood of a second season. Additionally, Tatiana Maslany’s comments criticizing CEO Bob Iger during the months-long SAG-AFTRA strike, where he deemed the actors’ union’s wage demands “unrealistic,” further complicate the show’s future prospects.
However, special effects and Maslany’s performance were the least of the show’s concerns, at least according to fans. One scene in particular drew intense criticism and significantly impacted the show’s ratings: the office twerking scene featuring Maslany’s She-Hulk and Ginger Gonzaga’s Nikki Ramos.

‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ was for many fans “where the end began.” The show was notably praised by critics and panned by fans as these things usually go, with little thought given to the story, and the overall feel of the show.
The show was special for several reasons, at no point did it try to present itself as anything other than light-hearted feminist fun. However, that plan for the show went at a steep price, as it was the most expensive project per episode to date. This obviously makes the chances of a second season even slimmer. Maslany’s comments that Iger is out of touch with reality, when multi-millionaire CEO had, during the months-long SAG-AFTRA strike that ground Hollywood to a halt, called the actors’ union’s demands for a fairer wage “unrealistic,” don’t help the odds as well.

You might not get the dog you want, but you always get the dog you need. That old dog lover’s adage applies peculiarly well to Chinese director Guan Hu’s “Black Dog.” A far smaller-scale project than his recent blockbusters “The Eight Hundred” and “The Sacrifice,” Guan’s latest — an Un Certain Regard standout at Cannes this year — nonetheless has the grandly cinematic vision to lend an intimate tale a gloriously epic, allegorical edge.
Set in a dying town on the fringes of the Gobi desert, “Black Dog” has elements of the genre Western, like taciturn loner antihero Lang (a fantastic Eddie Peng), who returns to his eroded hometown himself hollowed out by repressed guilt for the incident that caused his recent imprisonment. But, dipped in the caustic soda of social commentary and steeped in the fatalistic mood of a place barely chugging by on borrowed time, the film...

And while the Black Widow prequel movie wasn’t one of Marvel’s best or most lucrative movies, it did conclude the story of Natasha Romanoff in the MCU, and introduced us to some new characters we are going to see in some of the upcoming movies. But, this article won’t be about the movie itself, as it is going to be about the complex creative process that led to the final product, as IndieWire had a talk with one of the story co-writers Ned Benson, who joined the production at a later date, rewriting the original pitch, but even his version did not end up being the final one.
Ned Benson had a short talk with IndieWire about a potential return to the MCU, seeing how his original collaboration with the large cinematic project didn’t turn out to be the best, but it seems that the filmmaker...

Netflix's Defenders projects may now officially be part of the MCU canon, potentially introducing a range of Marvel heroes and villains to the MCU. Characters like Madame Gao, Iron Fist, Elektra, Colleen Wing, Misty Knight, Claire Temple, Stick, Kilgrave, and Luke Cage could potentially return in the MCU. Jessica Jones' return could potentially connect various street-level stories and tease the formation of Heroes for Hire.
Marvel Studios' apparent confirmation that Netflix's Defenders projects are now canon to the MCU brings several brilliant Marvel heroes and villains into the franchise's official timeline. Long before Marvel Studios began developing its own TV shows for Disney+, set prominently in the world of the MCU, Marvel Television expanded the franchise by producing several series for networks and to stream. Despite some controversy from the 1999 Cannes Film Festival, which eventually led Zhang to withdraw both of his films from the program, “Not One Less” became another international success, netting four awards from the Venice Film Festival, including the Golden Lion. The script is adapted from Shi Xiangsheng's 1997 story “A Sun in the Sky',' and takes place during the particular decade, when primary education reform had become one of the top priorities in the People's Republic of China. About 160 million Chinese people had missed all or part of their education because of the Cultural Revolution in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and in 1986 the National People's Congress enacted a law calling for nine years of compulsory education. By 1993, it was clear that much of the country was making little progress on implementing nine-year compulsory education, so the 1993–2000 seven-year plan focused on this goal. One of the major challenges educators...

During a recent Gold Derby video interview, senior editor Rob Licuria spoke in-depth with Tatiana Maslany (“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”) about Season 1 of her Disney Plus comedy series, which is eligible at the 2023 Emmys. Watch the full video above and read the complete interview transcript below.
The show was developed by Jessica Gao and adapted from the Marvel comics. Gao’s version of the “lawyer by day, green giant by night” narrative gives viewers a more fleshed-out version of Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, a vulnerable thirtysomething who endures the hit-or-miss L.A. dating scene and the turmoil of a long day in court representing others with superpowers.
As for what it meant to become a Marvel superhero, Maslany declared in our webchat, “I had zero sense of what was going to happen, and I think that’s what was so scary about it.” She added, “When I read the first script,...

New York, June 15 (Ians) The Sars-CoV-2 virus, which caused the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, first infected three scientists working at China’s infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology (Wiv), according to a new report that strengthens the theory of a lab-leak.
“Patients zero” included Ben Hu, Ping Yu and Yan Zhu — the scientists working on the controversial “gain-of-function” research on Sars-like viruses at the Wiv, according to an investigation published on the Substack newsletter Public and Racket.
It was previously noted that some Wiv scientists had developed Covid-19-like illnesses in November 2019, but their identities were not known.

London, May 31 (Ians) The theory that Covid-19 is the result of a lab-leak should not be discounted, a top Chinese scientist has said.
“You can always suspect anything. That’s science. Don’t rule out anything,” George Fu Gao, was quoted as saying in an interview for the BBC Radio 4 podcast, ‘Fever: The Hunt for Covid’s Origin’.
China has since the beginning dismissed any suggestion the disease may have originated in a Wuhan laboratory.

The “lab was double-checked by the experts in the field”.

New York, March 27 (Ians) US researchers have developed a novel smart bandage with biosensors that can help heal chronic wounds like diabetic ulcers and burns.
Most of the time, when someone gets a cut, scrape, burn or other wound, the body takes care of itself and heals on its own.
But diabetes can interfere with the healing process and create wounds that will not go away and that could become infected and fester.
The smart bandage developed by researchers at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) may make treatment of these wounds easier, more effective and less expensive.
“There are many different types of chronic wounds, especially in diabetic ulcers and burns that last a long time and cause huge issues for the patient,” Wei Gao, Assistant Professor of medical engineering, at Caltech said.
“There is a demand for technology that can facilitate recovery,” Gao said.

The boy band featured in Turning Red is a fictional creation of the Pixar universe, but the musical talent behind 4*Town's oldest member Jesse is well-known in the real world. Released on Disney+ in 2022, Turning Red revolves around 13-year-old Torontonian Mei Lee, a superfan of the boy band 4*Town. Due to a hereditary curse, Mei transforms into a giant red panda every time she feels an especially strong emotion. Directed by Bao’s Domee Shi, this coming-of-age gem was praised for its use of a fantastical storyline to tackle the universal transformative experience of puberty.

Talk about trying to find the right work/life balance! In the latest Disney+ Marvel series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (premiering August 18), Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) has one doozy of a dilemma in that regard. On the one hand, she’s navigating life as a lawyer — the career she’s worked so hard for. And on the other hand, when pressed, she’s forced to navigate life as a 6-foot-7-inch She-Hulk. There’ll be no question about what she’s feeling and how she’s dealing — we’ll get to see her break the fourth wall and speak to viewers directly, something that was “very, very tricky” in figuring out how often to do it, according to head writer and executive producer Jessica Gao. “If I had my way, she’d be breaking the fourth wall every other sentence,” Gao admitted during the show’s virtual panel as part...

The “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” team is coming to the defense of allegedly overworked Marvel visual effects artists saddled with the rigors of the MCU and also criticisms of bad CGI. During the summer TCA press tour ahead of the Disney+ series premiere on August 18, Tatiana Maslany, writer/creator Jessica Gao, and director Kat Coiro say they stand with any VFX artists who are feeling “pressured.”

A new premiere date and rollout for Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” was announced Wednesday during the streamer’s presentation at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
Instead of debuting on its originally announced premiere date of Wednesday, August 17, “She-Hulk” will premiere Thursday, August 18. The nine-episode comedy series will then roll out weekly on Thursdays, marking a change in strategy.
The move marks Disney+’s continued expansion of its programming schedule. While certain blockbuster series such as “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” “Ms. Marvel” and “The Book of Boba Fett” debuted new episodes on Wednesdays, Season 2 of “The Mandalorian” delivered new chapters on Fridays, a day Netflix has long dominated with its own new binge releases. “She-Hulk” will be the first Marvel series to drop new episodes on Thursdays.
