The Aca & G.Ott Awards 2024 has confirmed actors Kang Ki-young and Tiffany Young as the hosts for this year’s award ceremony. Kang Ki-young has shown a remarkable spectrum of acting in content including Extraordinary Attorney Woo (2022), recipient of the Aca Best Content Award in 2022. The coronavirus pandemic had a very detrimental effect not just on film production but also distribution and release. Productions with an international shooting schedule in particularly were heavily hit, having to either cancel shoots altogether or wait and change locations to resume production. However, with the ease in movement and the opening of the world, these projects were able to finish and 2022 in particular was a good year for these long-gestating films. Possibly the biggest and longest-delayed project of these is the history-making real-life crime thriller “The Point Men”, which has just released its first trailer and set a January 2023 release date for itself.

Synopsis

A group of Korean tourists is taken hostage by an extremist Taliban group in Afghanistan. The Korean government dispatches Jae-ho (Hwang Jung-min), known as one of Korea’s most skilled diplomats, in order to handle the situation.

Director Lee Joon-ik loves a good historical story. Eight of his twelve directorial credits so far have all been historicals of some form. His newest effort “The Book of Fish” sees him return once again not only to the genre after the lukewarm response to his last film, the modern-day set “Sunset in My Hometown“, but also sees him reteam with Sol Kyung-gu, the star of one of his most lauded works, “Hope”.

Synopsis

The story of poet Jeong Yak-yong’s brother, Jeong Yak-jeon when he was exiled to Heuksando in 1801, and meets an energetic young fisherman.

Alongside Sol Kyung-gu, “The Book of Fish” also stars Byun Yo-han, (“Will You Be There?”), Lee Jung-eun (“Parasite“), K-Drama regular Min Do-hee (“Reply 1994”) and Kang Ki-young (“Crazy Romance“). Earlier projected as a 2020 release, “The Book of Fish” is now scheduled to be released in February 2021.
