From Paramount’s Saban label comes a new fantasy film, The Secret Kingdom. The movie is currently available to see in theaters and stream on digital platforms and follows siblings Peter and Verity on their whirlwind adventure. After moving to a remote town, the pair discover a secret land underneath their bedroom floor. Peter and Verity are whisked away to the Below and tasked with fighting an ancient evil that has plagued the kingdom for ages.

At the helm of it all is Matt Drummond, a writer, director, producer, and SFX supervisor for the film. Drummond has worked on multiple projects and is known for features such as My Pet Dinosaur, Dinosaur Island, and Life After People. The main cast includes Sam Everingham, Alyla Browne, Alice Parkinson, Chris Gabardi, Darius Williams, and Beth Champion.

The upcoming Australian fantasy-adventure film “The Secret Kingdom” tells a story of two siblings’ courage being tested — and their adventures with some absolutely adorable magical animals — and you can see for yourself in the exclusive trailer at the top of the page.

In the trailer above, Verity (Alyla Browne) and Peter’s (Sam Everingham) trip to the old family mansion leads them on a magical journey beneath their bedroom floor which gives way, and they fall into a land of enchantment where they are met by a civilization of creatures. This underground world must be protected from the evil Shroud.

Exclusive: Signature Entertainment is launching global sales on Australian family-adventure film Don’t Go Below ahead of the virtual Cannes market.

Signature has acquired global rights (excluding Australia and New Zealand) to the fantasy film which is written and directed by Dinosaur Island and My Pet Dinosaur filmmaker Matt Drummond and produced by Matt Drummond and Megan Drummond.

Currently in post-production, the movie is one of the first independent features to employ Unreal Engine to create all the VFX and animation.

The film tells the story of anxious Peter (12) and his sister Verity (9), taken underground by a garrison of armoured pangolin. They soon learn that Peter is their prophesied King, who must reunite five sacred lost artefacts that will give him the power to destroy an ancient enemy called the Shroud.

Starring are Sam Everingham as Peter and Alayla Browne (Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers) as Verity, with additional voice cast due to join soon.

Driven by Children’s Day on Jun 1, Japanese animation Doraemon The Movie: Nobita’s Treasure Island stole the weekend crown while local comedy How Long Will I Love U retained the weekly No.1 in the period of May 28-Jun 3.

Xu Zheng-produced How Long Will I Love U stayed top for two straight weeks, adding $31.1m for $118m after 17 days. Currently the seventh highest grossing local film in 2018, Su Lun’s feature debut has become the latest box office hit by a woman director.

Japanese cartoon, “Doraemon The Movie 2018: Nobita’s Treasure Island” opened on top of the Chinese box office over the weekend. It was helped by the Children’s Day holiday on Friday.

The franchise feature, starring a big blue cat who is well-known from comics and TV series, opened on Friday and earned $24.3 million in three days. More than half of that total came on Friday, when it scored $13.0 million.

By Sunday, “Doraemon” had been edged into second place and overtaken by holdover “How Long Will I Love U.” The Chinese fantasy romance earned $15.9 million over three days for a cumulative of $110 million in 17 days.

Disney’s “Avengers: Infinity Way” took third place with $13.9 million. After 24 days on release, it has earned $354 million.

Chinese animation, “Happy Little Submarine: 20000 Leagues Under The Sea” and “Magic Mirror 2” were local beneficiaries from the Children’s Day weekend. “Submarine” earned $9.11 million in three days for fourth place.

Vision planning release in over 10,000 theatres for family feature.

Australia’s Odin’s Eye Entertainment has closed an all-rights deal for animated feature Hump with Beijing-based Vision Film Entertainment for mainland China.

Martin Gallery, Odin’s Eye senior vice president, International Distribution and Acquisitions, closed the deal with Vision Film Entertainment general manager Ricky Qi. Odin’s Eye is handling worldwide sales with La-based agency UTA overseeing North American distribution.

Produced by Berlin-based production house MovieBrats Pictures, Hump follows a young camel as it traverses the Arabian Desert with two companions, an ill-tempered goat and an overconfident desert fox, in order to reunite with its owner and best friend, a 10-year-old Bedouin boy.

UTA is putting together an A-list voice cast for the film, which is currently in pre-production and has already been pre-sold to Portugal, Bulgaria, Poland, Ukraine, former Yugoslavia, Israel, Middle East, South Korea and Vietnam.
