A host of British screen stars have joined Charge Films and Deadbeat Films’ upcoming short film “Bury Your Gays.”
From writer/director Charlotte Serena Cooper, the film is billed as a “bold takedown of outdated LGBTQ+ tropes in film and TV mixed with dark comedy that satirises the harmful cinematic tradition of the same name.”
“Bury Your Gays” will be led by Jude Mack and T’Nia Miller. Miller — a long-time advocate for better queer representation on screen — also serves as an executive producer.
The cast also features Sophie Melville (“The Way”), Harry Trevaldwyn (“How to Train Your Dragon”), Blake Harrison (“The Inbetweeners”), Ella-Rae Smith (“Foundation”), Amelia Clarkson (“The Last Kingdom”) and Sule Rimi (“Day of the Jackal”).
The story follows actor Grace, who can’t understand why every role she lands ends in her untimely death — until a mysterious agent explains the ‘Bury Your Gays’ trope. Now, trapped in a genre-hopping battle for survival,...

Back in 2019, it was announced that Ben Wheatley would be writing, directing, and executive producing Generation Z, a “hilarious, frightening, and political” series that would consist of six hour-long episodes that would “mix flesh-eating zombies into a story that satirizes how Brexit has divided the UK.” That project didn’t make it into production when it was originally supposed to because of the pandemic shutdown… but after making Meg 2: The Trench (you can read our review at This Link and check out our interview with the filmmaker Here), Wheatley circled back around to Generation Z. The show started airing on Channel 4 last October… and now, it has been confirmed that it will not get a second season.

The UK has produced several incredible sci-fi TV shows, many of which audiences havent heard of before. The best sci-fi TV shows of 2024 may be relevant right now, but multiple titles that are long forgotten still offer viewers a compelling story to sink their teeth into. British TV is known for producing some of the most famous sci-fi shows ever, such as Doctor Who. Red Dwarf is returning in 2025, which proves just how good the UKs sci-fi shows are.
However, some titles arent as prominent as these. This doesnt mean that these shows are bad, but rather that theyre simply underrated or overshadowed by other projects. Science fiction is a competitive genre, undoubtedly, but some UK shows simply didnt make a big enough splash internationally. Despite executing typically overused sci-fi TV tropes well or having a cast of popular actors, these British shows are relatively unknown and deserve more attention.

Russell T Davies expands the Whoniverse with a long-awaited spin-off focusing on the Sea Devils at San Diego Comic-Con. The series reunites familiar faces like Kate Stewart and introduces new characters played by Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The Sea Devil's emergence triggers an international crisis that involves Unit in The War Between The Land and The Sea.
Terrifying old foes and familiar faces collide, as the first spin-off of Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor Who era is confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con with The War Between The Land And The Sea. Gatwa took on the role of the Time Lord following David Tennant's brief return for 2023's 60th-anniversary specials. Despite representing a whole new era of the show, returning showrunner Russell T Davies has long wanted to see the Whoniverse grow, revisiting familiar companions on their own journeys and taking advantage of the full scope of the universe.

The sci-fi genre has always been one of the most beloved among cinephiles as it gives us a new look at a particular technology or our world. There was a time when Max (formerly known as HBO Max) was the place for peak sci-fi shows but after taking off Westworld and Raised by Wolves from the service, and since then it has been lacking a bit regarding sci-fi shows. Doctor Who season 14, under Russell T. Davies, features an unconventional episode reminiscent of his previous acclaimed TV shows. "73 Yards" episode revolves around Ruby Sunday and Mad Jack, influenced by Davies' Years and Years, hinting at dark events to come. The return of Aneurin Barnard's Mad Jack in Doctor Who season 15 may explore weighty themes of power, corruption, and civilization collapse.
Doctor Who season 14 has seen Russell T. Davies once again assume the role of showrunner, and the most unconventional episode of the new batch is oddly reminiscent of one of the writer's most acclaimed TV shows. Starring Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as his companion, Ruby Sunday, Doctor Who season 14 has, thus far, featured a snot monster, the Beatles, and a deadly ambulance. However, the weirdest episode of the season so far might just be the best, in part because it borrows from a previous Russell T.

Disney and the BBC really don’t want any spoilers revealed for today’s debut of the latest season of Doctor Who. Fair enough, but I’m here to tell you that you will hear some of the worst music ever in these opening episodes of Ncuti Gatwa’s hopefully long run as the famed Time Lord.
Crossing timelines and absent granddaughters aside, that’s the point.
Since Rwandan-born Gatwa’s debut in December last year, his Doctor Who has already flipped a lot of scripts on what the Tardis travelling Doctor is and should be. Yes, the Fifteenth Doctor is the first Black and the first openly Queer incarnation of the Gallifreyan since the iconic British series debuted in 1963, as well as the first person not born in the UK to play the Time Lord Both those representations are long overdue and wonderful, but the real thing about this...

It’s here, the newest Netflix thriller adapted from one of Harlan Coben’s ludicrously twist-packed, secret-filled crime mystery novels. This one comes adapted by Danny Brocklehurst with the same UK team that made The Five, Safe, The Stranger and Stay Close, and once again stars Richard Armitage in a central role.
Fool Me Once is the story of military helicopter pilot Maya Stern, a captain who loses her career in a scandal and suffers two bereavements in short succession. It’s fast-paced, kind of ridiculous viewing that takes you down an extremely twisty path before tying everything up in a big not-exactly-watertight-but-it’ll-do-fine knot – which makes it pretty perfect viewing for a brain-fogged New Year’s Day after all of December’s indulgences.

Sacha Dhawan misread the script for Doctor Who and mistakenly believed that his character, The Master, was supposed to dance to Boney M's "Rasputin." Despite the misunderstanding, the production team allowed Dhawan to dance for about five minutes during filming and included some of the footage in the final cut. Dhawan had been listening to the song constantly and was excited about the idea of Rasputin dancing, so he improvised his moves on the spot and was glad that it made the episode.
Jodie Whittaker's Master actor Sacha Dhawan shares shocking details about Doctor Who's Rasputin dance. Dhawan debuted as the villain's latest regeneration in season 12's premiere story, "Spyfall," where he assisted a tech billionaire in subjugating the Earth. The actor later starred as the main villain of Whittaker's final adventure, "The Power of The Doctor," where he aligned himself with Daleks and Cybermen to destroy the Doctor's entire legacy.

"Seize Them!" is coming, and we couldn't be more excited. This upcoming British comedy - much like Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott's latest venture with their highly anticipated film "Strangers" - boasts the best of the UK and Ireland's talent. "Bridgerton"'s Nicola Coughlan, "Sex Education"'s Aimee Lou Wood, and "Shrill"'s Lolly Adefope will be joining forces as part of this medieval-set movie.
Whilst Coughlan has already served us plenty Barbiecore outfit inspiration for the press run as part of her supporting role in Greta Gerwig's "Barbie," we certainly can't wait to see her as the leading lady alongside the all-star cast for this comedy.

There’s never been a better year to be a David Tennant fan – the man’s the very definition of “booked and busy”.
You could have been forgiven for thinking he’d had a pretty unbeatable year back in 2005, when (among other things) he starred in two of that year’s biggest TV and film successes, both beginning his tenure as the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who and playing Barty Crouch Jr in Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire.
But almost 20 years later, Tennant’s demand has only continued growing, so much so that these days it’s almost easier to list the blockbuster shows and franchises that don’t involve David Tennant.
Add to that acting roles for Georgia Tennant, his wife, and three of their five children (so far!), and there’s a whole smorgasbord of Tennant talent on offer.

Doctor Who is moving ahead with an exciting new era, but season 14 should copy Chris Chibnall's best storytelling decision. 2023 is Doctor Who's 60th anniversary, which sees the likes of David Tennant and Catherine Tate returning to the show. Russell T. Davies will be returning as showrunner for the anniversary special episodes, season 14, and beyond, with Sex Education's Ncuti Gatwa in the role of the Doctor.
As the show aims to progress under Davies, it should still look back and take Chibnall's best ideas from his era. Season 13, also known as Doctor Who Flux, was the first time since the show returned in 2005 that it told one serialized story. To truly bring Doctor Who up to date in the modern television landscape, Rtd should do the same.

Here she meets 16-year-old inmate Bethany Krall, who was found guilty of brutally murdering her mother, and tells Gabs that she has psychic powers. Is she a highly manipulative psychopath or is she telling the truth when she says she can foretell a natural disaster linked to climate catastrophe?
Madeley said: “I loved Liz Jensen’s novel and Bryony Kimmings’ scripts are brilliantly inventive and funny and scary. Gabs is such a rich and complex character, and I cannot wait to play her.

The BBC has tasked His Dark Materials writer Jack Thorne to pen a TV adaptation of William Golding’s seminal novel Lord of the Flies.
This marks the first time the novel will be made for television, though there have been two feature film adaptations — the first Peter Brook’s 1963 movie and the second made in 1990 by Harry Hook (above).
Sex Education producer Eleven is attached to make The BBC’s series, which was unveiled by BBC Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore today at a Broadcasting Press Guild event in London. Several other announcements were also made (see below).
Writer Thorne is known for shows such as BBC fantasy series His Dark Materials, Channel 4 Covid-19 drama Help, Shane Meadows’ This is England and Netflix series The Eddy, feature films Wonder and Enola Holmes and theater productions including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Lille, France — The gauntlet thrown down by the opening stretches of Viaplay banner title “The Fortress,” one of nine series in main competition at Series Mania, is to believe that this is fiction.
News footage plays of a pandemic, then a war; huge protests rage around the world as Norway’s prime minister addresses his nation to announce that Norway is building a wall to keep everybody else out. That’s been done before (Israel) and in metaphorical terms (Brexit).
Cut to nine years later: Norway is a bucolic paradise, Sweden next door a refugee camp hell, until strange bacteria kills fish and then humans, and Norway will, foreseeably, need international help and “what starts as a wall, ends as a prison,” comments Filippa Wallestam, Viaplay Group chief content officer.
Set in an eerily familiar 2037 Bergen, and starring Selome Emnetu (“Occupied”) and Russell Tovey (“Years & Years”), “The Fortress” weighs...

U.K. producer Nicola Shindler received on Tuesday the third Women in Series Award at Series Mania, Europe biggest TV festival.
Few awards seem such just reward. From serving as a script editor on “Cracker” (1993), Jimmy McGovern’s breakout, to producing his “Hillsborough” (1995) and executive producing “Queer as Folk” (1999) which heralded Russell T. Davies as a major writing talent, very few producers have been so consistently successful down the decades.
Shows produced by Shindler in just the last 10 years take in Sally Wainwright’s “Happy Valley” (2014), Harlan Coben’s “The Five” (2016) and “Safe” (2018), Davies’ “Years and Years and It’s a Sin, his consecration, and now “Nolly,” made by Shindler out of Quay Street Productions, her new label launched in 2021 as part of ITV Studios.
“Her lineup is amazing,” said Francesco Capurro, head of the Series Mania Forum, introducing the Award on Tuesday.
All of which raises the huge question of...
