"Grand central " is a true delight for the singer's numerous fans ; more rock than ballads , it's a well -chosen menu ,spanning his whole career from "love me do " to " Egyptian station" , while passing the eighties and the nineties over in silence .
Much to my delight , The White Album (my desert island personal choice)is given a prominent place with no less than five selections .
At 76 ,the artist still rocks as hard as ever ("hi hi hi" "helter skelter" "birthday "."1985")
His relationship with his audience is extraordinary (many heroes of his generation can't say the same ): he asks if some of them were once bullied by their fellow men,not an usual request ; he sings "blackbird" in the middle of the audience and he shows he's not lost his sense of humor;he performs "my Valentine " -dedicated to his wife Nancy- on a loudhailer ,creating a curiously romantic effect.
