Wowsers, Inspector Gadget is making a return. Disney is developing a new live-action take on the 1980s animated series centering on the clumsy cyborg police inspector, hiring Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, best known as writers on Saturday Night Live, to pen the script.
Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced the billion dollar-grossing live-action Aladdin remake, are producing Gadget via their Rideback banner.

Flash Gordon
Writer: Jeff Parker
Artist: Evan Shaner
Colourist: Jordie Bellaire
Letterer: Simon Bowland
Publisher: Dynamite Entertainment
After reading a single Flash Gordon comic, if you don’t want to be Flash, or at the very least, a part of his ensemble, then there is easily way too much excitement in your life. Flash Gordon represents this ideal of bewilderment or the excitement one receives from the unknown. In actuality, Flash is actually quite childish. He acts before he thinks, is utterly fearless, and enjoys a high sense of adventure. He represents the inner child that we encase within ourselves upon entering adulthood; something we cannot embrace as often as we might want to. Flash is not alone as he embraces his lack of fear. If it were not for the constant companions of Dale Arden and Dr. Zarkov, Flash would probably be six feet under a long time ago...

"The Equalizer," Denzel Washington's big-screen take on the 1980s TV action series about a middle-aged badass-for-hire, may be a perfectly fine movie. Still, here's a question for Hollywood: once you're adapting "The Equalizer," doesn't it mean you've dipped into the '80s TV well a few times too many?
"Equalizer" joins such '80s TV-to-film adaptations as "The A-Team," "Miami Vice," "Inspector Gadget," "He-Man," the "Transformers" franchise, the "G.I. Joe" movies, and the various "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboots.. Plus, the team that made a hit film franchise out of "21 Jump Street" will try to work similar magic on "The Greatest American Hero."
You'd think there wouldn't be any gold left to mine from the "Sold Gold" decade. But you'd be wrong. Digging around in the nostalgia pit, Moviefone unearthed at least 15 more '80s TV series that could become successful movies, if they're done right. Here are our...

In my apparent continuing quest to interview all the great voice actors living today (because they are the most fun, okay?), I now bring you my interview with the talented and Emmy-winning Maurice Lamarche, a.k.a. The Brain, Squit, Kif Kroker, Morbo, Lrrr, several Futurama robots, Dr. Egon Spengler, Dizzy Devil, Yosemite Sam, Mr. Freeze, Victor von Doom, General Var Suthra, Mortimer Mouse, Chief Quimby, and more.
It was a real pleasure to speak with Maurice, who I’ve been listening to in various guises since I was a wee thing (I was a big Inspector Gadget fan as a child; and then with Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Futurama being amongst my other favorite shows through the years, I guess I’ve pretty much been listening to Maurice all my life!). It was also great to see him do many of his excellent voices and impressions both during the interview,...

The wild success of the Transformers franchise can basically be boiled down to one basic truth: Watching a semi-truck cab, or sports car, or fighter jet turn into a giant robot is really, really cool. I mean, it’s not like the first two movies pulled in $1.5 billion worldwide based on their penetrating insight into the human condition. So as Transformers: Dark of the Moon stampedes ever-closer to the multiplex, we were wondering, who is the coolest Transformer?

The voice of Michelangelo on the highly-popular animated series takes a look back on the 25th anniversary of this creation.
Townsend Coleman was a DJ and radio personality in Cleveland, Ohio for many years, when he decided it was time to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor, and moved his family to Hollywood in 1984. Due to his radio experience, he found more work as a voice actor and in 1987 he took on the voice of a character that would be part of a cultural phenomena in the 80s and 90s: the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. Coleman performed the voice of my personal favorite turtle, Michelangelo, and I recently had the chance to speak with him over the phone about the 25th anniversary of these wonderful characters' creation and the four-part Season 7 DVD set that was broken off into four "slices" - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Season 7, Pt.

Don Adams, the comedic actor who won three consecutive Emmys for his role as Agent Maxwell Smart in the hit comedy series Get Smart, died yesterday in Los Angeles; he was 82. The actor died of a lung infection at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and had apparently been in ill health for the past year, after suffering a broken hip. Adams began his Hollywood career after World War II, working as a stand-up comedian and writing and performing for television. Changing his last name from Yarmy to Adams, reportedly because he wanted to be called first and not last at auditions, the actor provided the voice of animated character Tennesee Tuxedo, and his numerous appearances on talk shows provided him with the opportunity to star in Get Smart. A spy spoof created after the surging popularity of the James Bond films, the show wasn't something that interested Adams initially, until he found out that Mel Brooks and Buck Henry had written the pilot. As the snappy but not-quite-intrepid secret agent Maxwell Smart, he was paired with the much smarter and much sexier Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon), and his standard line "Would you believe?!" became a national catchphrase; fans will also remember Smart's infamous "shoe phone" and the agency names CONTROL (the good guys) and KAOS (the bad guys). Adams became an instant star, and the show ran from 1965-1970, winning the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy award in 1968 and 1969. Adams himself won three Emmys and received a fourth nomination. After the series ended, Adams continued to make numerous television appearances, and even starred in a Maxwell Smart movie, The Nude Bomb (1980), after the show became a hit in syndication. In the 80s, Adams also provided the lead voice for the popular animated series Inspector Gadget, which spawned another well-known phrase, "Go, go, Gadget!" After a failed attempt to revise the Get Smart show in 1995, Adams worked mainly offscreen, providing Inspector Gadget's voice and others for various animated shows. Adams was married and divorced three times, and had a total of seven children from the three marriages. --Prepared by IMDb staff...
