“Wow,” Carpenter exclaimed. “New York City, we’re pleased to announce a second show has been added!”

The master of horror will perform alongside bandmates Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies for their first live show since 2018.

Following the New York dates, the group heads to The Belasco in Los Angeles for shows on October 24, October 25, October 31, and November 1.

They play Carpenter’s classic film cues from the likes of Halloween, The Thing, Escape from New York, The Fog, They Live, and more along with original music from their four Lost Themes albums.

John Carpenter finally gets his long-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The iconic - and subversive - director of the landmark Halloween (1978) continues influencing modern horror creatives and putting money in studio pockets.

On April 3, 2025, Carpenter received a tremendous honor acknowledging his five roller-coaster decades in the film industry. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce certainly values his work. It awarded him a coveted place among the legends on Hollywood Blvd. Frequent Carpenter star Kurt Russell joined fellow alumnus from The Thing (1982), Keith David, to honor the director in front of the press.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame star secures John Carpenter's place in cinematic history. He's a legend whose contributions to the horror genre and overall film industry were (and are) significant. Just in time for the 45th anniversary of John Carpenter’s The Fog, the Southampton Playhouse in Southampton, NY has announced that the 1980 horror classic will be kicking off the brand new theater’s “Horror on Hill Street” series in just a couple weeks!

The Fog will descend on the Southampton Playhouse on Thursday, April 17 at 7:30pm Est, and the special 45th anniversary event will feature veteran film journalist Anne Thompson.

What’s particularly exciting about the screening is that it’ll be the very first horror movie the Sh Playhouse has screened since the theater’s opening earlier this year. The beautiful theater’s four screens include a state-of-the-art IMAX theater and 35mm projection, and The Fog is the first of many repertory horror screenings the Playhouse will be bringing to Long Island.

Back in June of last year, the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors announced that more than thirty new stars are going to be added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025 (and into 2026), with the latest batch of honorees including legendary filmmaker John Carpenter. Honorees have up to two years after they are chosen to set a date for their ceremonies – and now, it has been confirmed that Carpenter’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11:30 Am Pt.

Carpenter’s will be the 2,806th star to be added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the dedication will take place at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Remakes are often viewed with tremendous suspicion by moviegoers, especially when the film getting revisited is a bona-fide classic. This is because the rationale for most remakes is pure exploitation. The studio holds the rights to a property that once made it a gazillion dollars, and, because the money people have decided the original's laid fallow long enough, the time is right to splash a fresh coat of paint on it and see if a new generation of viewers will fork over cash to check out a gussied-up retread.

Carpenter has directed several classic horror movies, most notably with the 1978 slasher Halloween, but his remake of The Thing has become even more beloved than the original. Some of his other famous films include Vampires, The Fog, They Live, and Escape from New York. He last directed the supernatural thriller The Ward in 2010.

Over 15 years later, and we're still waiting to see what movie he picks to helm next. According to his recent comments to Variety, the main thing holding him back is that he doesn't want to be backed "into a budget anymore," noting that "it's too hard.

Tom Welling, best known for playing Clark Kent on all 10 seasons of Wbtv’s Smallville, was arrested early Sunday in Yreka, CA, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Deadline.

Welling was taken into custody by Yreka police in an Arby’s parking lot just after midnight Jan. 26 in the northern California city. He was booked for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level at or above 0.08%, according to TMZ, which first reported his arrest. He was released from custody a couple hours later, according to sheriff’s department records.

Goteborg Film Festival has unveiled the programme for its 48th edition, with 22 feature world premieres and four feature competition sections.

World premiere titles include Asier Urbieta’s Spanish thriller Pheasant Island in the international competition section. The debut feature from Spanish filmmaker Urbieta sees a young Basque couple’s relationship put to the test when a dead body is found on the mysterious titular island.

VFX artists share how a balance of practical and digital techniques employed in a classic John Carpenter and Kurt Russell feature created visuals that would fit alongside later technological developments. Carpenter is known for helming influential, genre-defining features, including Halloween, They Live, and The Fog. He is a celebrated director because of his lasting impact on the horror genre. Carpenter and Russell began their working relationship with an unlikely project in the form of Elvis, a 1979 TV movie where Russell portrayed the singer looking back on his life and career.

Carpenter and Russell's collaborations would continue throughout their careers, allowing the actor to play characters such as pilot and survivor R.J. Macready in The Thing and truck driver-turned-hero Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China. Jamie Lee Curtis is one of the most recognizable scream queens, establishing her presence as Laurie Strode in the Halloween franchise as well as appearing in 80s cult classics such as The Fog and Prom Night. Her characters are often headstrong and determined in the face of adversity, and that’s what makes them so compelling to root for. Although on the screen, Curtis’ performances are brave, in reality, she does not like being scared at all. In fact, one of the most iconic villains of the Disney renaissance period left her terrified.

There's no bigger name in horror than John Carpenter. The writer-director has made such classics as Halloween, The Fog, The Thing and They Live. However, not all his films are treated equally or as beloved. One of the best examples of this is Memoirs of an Invisible Man. The Chevy Chase-starring horror comedy was panned by critics and considered box office bomb when it was released in 1992. Over 30 years later, the narrative hasn't changed much from that initial cold reception. However, horror fans can give Memoirs of an Invisible Man a second chance as it's now streaming for free.

Terminator 2 star Edward Furlong's 1994 horror movie Brainscan will soon hit a major streaming service. The underrated film debuted to mostly negative reviews and performed modestly at the box office upon its release.

Furlong's Brainscan will stream for free on Tubi starting January 1. Directed by John Flynn and written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the science fiction slasher film follows the actor's character, Michael Brower, a horror and video game fan who lives an isolated existence after he permanently injures his leg in a car crash that killed his mother. Michael's only friend and fellow school Horror Club member Kyle (Jamie Marsh) tells him about a brand-new, ultra-realistic game called Brainscan. He mail-orders the game, which begins to upend his life. T. Ryder Smith plays The Trickster, Brainscan's host and the film's primary antagonist. Brainscan also stars Frank Langella, Amy Hargreaves, Victor Ertmanis, and David Hemblen.

A forgotten horror movie starring Tom Welling is resurfacing on a new streaming home. Fans will have a chance to give it a watch for free when it hits Tubi next month.

On Jan. 1, 2025, Welling's The Fog will be made available to stream for free on Tubi. This will gave fans of the actor a chance check out the film, which marked one of Welling's first movie roles. With its debut in theaters in 2005, it dropped early into the run of Smallville, the hit DC series featuring Welling as a young Clark Kent. It also marks the only horror movie to feature Welling, though the actor recently made his mark in action with his role in the recent film Mafia Wars.

When it comes to the horror genre, there's arguably no director as beloved as John Carpenter. The filmmaker has made some of the best films of the genre, which have included Halloween, The Fog, They Live and The Thing. He also has a few very underrated gems, like In the Mouth of Madness and Prince of Darkness. However, even the best directors have one or two “bad” films. The center of that conversation for Carpenter is his 2001 Sci-Fi horror thriller Ghosts of Mars. It's one of the few films in Carpenter’s meaty filmography that hasn't come to 4K either, but that's about to change thanks to Scream Factory.

Fans of Patricia Cornwells Kay Scarpetta novels were delighted earlier this year when it was announced that theyd be turned into a series for Prime Video with Nicole Kidman in the lead, and Jamie Lee Curtis portraying her sister, Dorothy. Two seasons are now officially in development, and while filming has yet to begin, Kidman recently teased the thriller as being scarier than The Others, her 2001 horror hit that has long been lauded as one of the spookiest ghost stories ever told.

Fans of Amazon-owned free streaming service Amazon Freevee will soon see the name vanish from screens as the ad-supported platform previously known as IMDb TV is set to shut down and merge with Amazon Prime Video. Freevee, which originally launched in 2019, has provided free content with ads in the same vein as Tubi and Pluto TV. In 2022, it was rebranded as Freevee, and began broadening its range of original programming to include series like Judy Justice and Bosch: Legacy alongside much-loved licensed shows and movies.

As the final stretch of October sets in, there is still plenty of time to catch favorite flicks, spooky, witchy, scary or cozy in the season of pumpkins, monsters and more. Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween has several classic films airing all month long such as Casper (1995), Arachnophobia, Goosebumps, Edward Scissorhands, etc.
