During a recent American Idol episode, Carrie Underwood didn’t hesitate to roast her co-star.
She joined Season 23 as a judge to replace fellow singer Katy Perry, who left for her world tour and travel to space in a historic Blue Origin flight.
Carrie has received plenty of backlash and criticism upon joining due to her inauguration performance earlier this year.
Some critics have also called out the Season 4 winner for her unrecognizable appearance amid potential cosmetic surgery upgrades.
Many fans also still support the Idol star and enjoy seeing what she brings to the singing competition show each week.
During one episode, she and her co-stars, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, had a brief exchange about their music, and Carrie quickly shot down one of them as far as a musician.

Never question Nicole Richie’s devotion to her bees. The Beverly Hills homesteader — she was raising chickens and jarring her own honey long before the term “tradwife” was coined — is wrapping up a story about how her father, Lionel Richie, banished her beehive from his property when she makes the depth of her passion crystal clear.
This anecdote of the “All Night Long” singer’s unwanted insects is quirky and just revealing enough to be part of Richie’s chat show arsenal. I’ve heard it before, though not the part about what happened next. She didn’t relocate the bees to her own home. They went to live on their beekeeper’s property in the San Fernando Valley, which sounds a lot like the proverbial farm upstate. The bees are alive and thriving, I’m assured, and producing more of her small batch sweetener as we speak. But she...

The following contains spoilers for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2, which is now streaming on Netflix.
One of the best branches to extend out of the Jurassic World franchise has been the hit animated series about six campers stranded on a dino-infested island. Not only did Camp Cretaceous neatly tie itself to the larger franchise, but it helped redeem several storylines and characters who didnt have their due time in the spotlight. Now, like its predecessor, Chaos Theory continues to tell the tales of the Nublar Sixs epic adventure as the true heroes of an extinct species.
Its safe to say that Chaos Theory started with a dark tone, and as the story progressed, the viewers learned that there was something far more sinister at play. As the stakes got higher, so did the fear factor, and Season 2 definitely lived up to the franchises knack for dino jumpscares.

The Jackbox Naughty Pack did exactly what one would expect when it was announced back in April, which was turn heads and get gamers talking. Finally, the developers behind great game modes like Quiplash, Fibbage, and Tee K.O. had taken it upon themselves to create a title dedicated to its adult audience. The stage had been set, fan feedback had been taken, and with Jackbox Games releasing its 10th Party Pack last October, the time was right to get experimental.
However, while Jackbox has been planning to wow players with suggestive and explicit content, the bar was already set high by users. Many of the previous games give players autonomy to write what comes to their minds, allowing them to enjoy adult-level content without the help of Nsfw prompts. In some ways, this gave rise to an uphill battle for the developers, who ultimately chose to play it safe...

“Twisters” director Lee Isaac Chung wanted to capture the spirit and culture of storm trackers, whose profession requires a great deal of time in cars and trucks.
“Everybody I talked to in Oklahoma who chases, music is such an integral part of it,” said Chung when he was a recent guest on IndieWire’s Toolkit podcast. “Anytime I’d ask, ‘What’s on your playlist?’ you’d see them break into a smile, and everybody has a different music choice.”
In the Chung household, there is a rule: Whoever is driving picks the music. On “Twisters,” director Chung drove the proverbial train, and the country music lover got to build his dream soundtrack. For a film that takes part mostly on dirt roads in rural areas of Oklahoma, with characters driving into storms when most sane people are headed in the other direction, an outlaw country music sound also made sense.

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: A “Josie and the Pussycats”-Type Spinoff for “The L Word” Crowd
More than a decade ago, “D.E.B.S.” filmmaker Angela Robinson gifted garage band lesbians everywhere “Girltrash: All Night Long.” Too bad most of that delusional target demographic seems to have been too busy obsessing over their ex-girlfriends — and/or future Band Slam prospects — to properly champion this underrated gem from a pioneering voice in queer film. Oh, well! You know what they say: If you want a movie loved right, then you have to throw your own bra at it.

Schavaria Reeves, a prolific sound mixer on New Amsterdam, passed away in 2022 after working on 20 episodes. Reeves' work extended beyond New Amsterdam to include projects like John Wick and Inventing Anna. Friends and colleagues remember Reeves as a kind and talented professional who will be missed in the industry.
The name Schavaria Reeves appears in a dedication card at the end of a New Amsterdam season 5 episode, leading some fans to wonder who that is. The series stars Dr. Maximus "Max" Goodwin (Ryan Eggold), alongside New Amsterdam's large ensemble cast of doctors, support staff, and family members, all working to make the poorly funded, public, titular hospital an effective center for those who need it.

(Toronto, On – October 12, 2023) Today, Nigerian born, Los Angeles-based artist TOBi delivers his bold new album Panic via RCA Records. Out now, the soulful, funkafied 12-track project further cements TOBi as a chilling storyteller with cleverly-written and tightly-woven bars as he continues to take us through pivotal moments in his life’s journey, but where TOBi becomes taciturn on certain tracks, the fullness of the production, instruments and layered harmonies, convey what’s left unspoken.

“That s**t goes wrong!” he joked, seemingly claiming he’s never gone under the knife to enhance his face.
“[Plastic surgery] locks you in for that year [while you recover] and after that, you can’t go naturally, you’re staying right there … You try and go back to reset, and you can’t,” he said.

When I heard that there was going to be a Coronation Concert at Windsor Palace to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, my first thought was: “Wow, who would voluntarily perform at that?” Some international viewers might have expected the biggest stars the U.K. has to offer, like Adele or maybe even Elton John, Harry Styles, Dua Lipa or Ed Sheeran. But no, instead the baton seemed to fall primarily to people whose management didn’t get the memo that this was the most uncool gig ever: Americans!

King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s unexpected cameo during Sunday’s “American Idol” was almost as big a surprise for Ryan Seacrest as it was for everyone watching.
Following Sunday’s new episode of “Idol,” Seacrest spoke with Et’s Denny Directo, and explained how quickly the high-profile cameos came together.

In and among performances from Katy Perry, Nicole Scherzinger and Lionel Richie (the latter managing to tempt the king out of his seat for some bobbing to All Night Long) were video messages of congratulations and “Did you know?” facts about Charles from Hollywood royalty.

Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Take That, and Nicole Scherzinger were among the artists to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III at a star-studded concert Sunday at Windsor Castle.
Perry — performing on arguably her biggest stage since the Super Bowl Xlix halftime show — delivered a rendition of “Roar” while drones formed the shape of a lion, denoting the newly crowned king’s coat of arms.

Lionel Richie had the crowd singing “All Night Long” during King Charles III’s coronation concert!
On Sunday, the “American Idol” judge took the stage for a performance in honor of the new king at Windsor Castle. For his set, Richie kicked things off with “Easy (Like Sunday Morning).”
Sitting at the piano, Richie got the audience singing along as they waved their hands and lit up phones from side to side.
He then got them on their feet with his upbeat hit, “All Night Long.” It was obvious that the royal family was happy to have the “Hello” singer there as they sang along to his songs, with Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s children, George and Charlotte, waving little union jack flags in excitement and Charles himself showing off some of his dance moves.

As the UK prepares for King Charles's coronation on Saturday, there has been ongoing chatter around the celebrations the following day. The coronation concert will be held on May 7 on the grounds of Windsor Castle, and will be broadcast live to the rest of the country. Yet there had been some mystery around which performers would be taking the stage. Now, a lineup is beginning to form, with British crooner Olly Murs the latest singer confirmed to be at the historic occasion.
Murs joins both Katy Perry and Take That, who will also be performing at the king's coronation concert, alongside legend Lionel Richie, and Italian opera star Andrea Bocelli. For the big event, the roster also includes a number of choirs from around the UK, including refugee, NHS, LGBTQ+, and deaf choirs. There will also be a section called "Lighting Up the Nation," which will involve landmarks around...

Carly Simon has faced her fear of flying before. In 1971, she forced herself to board a plane to Los Angeles for her first-ever show at the Troubadour, where she opened for Cat Stevens. In 1989, she made another momentous trip there, this time to attend the Academy Awards, where “Let the River Run,” from Working Girl, won her a Best Original Song trophy. And this fall, she’ll return to L.A. for the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where she’s finally being inducted after being eligible since 1996.

Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between.
Today we discuss perhaps the greatest living actor: Gene Hackman! Conor and I are joined by one of our good, good friends Mitchell Beaupre! Senior Editor at Letterboxd, co-host of their Weekend Watchlist podcast (as well as the brand new podcast Acting Out with Ryan and Mitchell), and contributor to great sites like The Film Stage (!), Paste Magazine, The Playlist, and Little White Lies. Our B-Sides today are: All Night Long, The Package, Heartbreakers, and Welcome to Mooseport.
We talk Hackman’s beginnings, Mitchell’s superb piece on Hackman’s spectacular 2001, the actor’s own reflections on his accomplished career, his mid-career hiatus, and – finally – his frequent combativeness with his directors. Additional topics include Tommy Lee Jones’ wild ‘90s,...

Patrick McGoohan had already starred in All Night Long, a well-received rethinking of Othello set in Piccadilly’s jazz clubs—so why not try again? And so was born Catch My Soul, the Othello story moved to a dusty New Mexico commune with Woodstock sensation Richie Havens as the doomed moor. It was McGoohan’s first and only feature length directorial effort, due, perhaps, to the absolutely abysmal reviews. The film is helped by Conrad Hall’s photography but not so much by the co-stars, a who’s who of 70’s rock artists including Delaney and Bonnie, and Tony Joe White.

The Masked Singer had far less drama than last week—but it wasn't totally free from controversy. After the unmasking of Rudy Giuliani on the April 20 episode caused panelist Ken Jeong to walk off the set, he was back in his seat for the latest round of performances. Queen Cobra kicked things off with a rendition of Aretha Franklin's "I Say a Little Prayer." The biggest question was exactly how many cobras there actually are. A stage full of snakes performed the song, but only two stuck around to get critiques from the panelists. Cobra's Mega Clue was a shiny red heart that said "B. Mine." Up next, Space Bunny performed Lionel Richie's "All Night Long...

What exactly happened between Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) and Trevor Vaughn (Ryan Faucett) after they left the karaoke bar? That’s the question for TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the April 26 episode of New Amsterdam, the conclusion of a two-parter. As we saw in “All Night Long,” everyone went to a karaoke bar to have fun, but by the end of the episode, a few were Mia. Now, Trevor FaceTimes Iggy from a hospital bed — the paramedics took him to Baptist — and the good news is he’s fine. “I’m sure you know by now that you were drugged last night,” Iggy says. “It wasn’t just you, though. A bunch of us got dosed unfortunately.” The last thing Trevor remembers is the train ride home; the last time we saw him and Iggy was outside the subway station. “I’ve been really worried,” Iggy admits.

It was a uniquely filmed, stealth hour that centered the characters in a way the series needed.
"All Night Long" provided us with these tidbits of insight into these characters we love while also giving us a fun backdrop and the friendships we deserved and craved. Then, by the end of New Amsterdam Season 4 Episode 16, they walloped us with a shocker that has us counting down the seconds until its continuation.
What in the bloody hell happened to Wilder, Mia, Helen, Casey, and Trevor?!
TV veteran actor Néstor Carbonell was back to direct a great hour of New Amsterdam, and from that standpoint alone, it was a complex, fascinating experience.
They took a bit of a Groundhog approach, as we revisited similar scenes from different angles to provide some context to what happened with our beloved character the night before.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for New Amsterdam Season 4, Episode 16 “All Night Long.”] A New Amsterdam-Urgent Medicine karaoke night takes a very serious turn in the first new episode of the NBC drama since February 22. Dr. Elizabeth Wilder (Sandra Mae Frank) organizes the night out at the bar, and everyone takes a turn on the stage. She and Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) team up for a duet, as do Dr. Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery) and Casey Acosta (Alejandro Hernandez) and Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) and Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine). Dr. Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman), visiting from London, sings a solo. But it’s not all fun. By the end of the episode, the following day, Helen, Wilder, Casey, Trevor Vaughn (Ryan Faucett), and Dr. Mia Castries (Genevieve Angelson) are all Mia. “There is a very clear reason why certain people were targeted, and it’s hopefully surprising,” executive producer David Schulner tells TV Insider. “But if ...

Nestor Carbonell stops by New Amsterdam for the second time in Season 4 to direct, but this time, it’s a very different type of medical drama episode. In “All Night Long,” the team goes out for a night of karaoke and drinking … and then must face the consequences. While it is a departure, we do see them at work, like Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine) helping a patient confront a past trauma, and dealing with personal problems, like Dr. Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) and Dr. Lyn Malvo (Frances Turner) discussing their future. Carbonell takes us inside directing the hour. You directed an episode earlier in the season, but that one was a bit more straightforward. This one is a bit of a departure from the typical medical drama episode. Preview what we’ll see from the doctors. Nestor Carbonell: You’re absolutely right. It definitely was a departure from the norm.

I know I'm not only getting old, but I'm there already. That's apparent in the fact that I remember seeing the 1981 comedy "All Night Long" at an advanced critic's screening in New York. Back in those prehistoric days before the internet, you had to read trade industry publications to get the background story or buzz on forthcoming films. Sure, the general public was always aware that expensive epics were experiencing production problems, but everyday movie fans were generally unaware of the scuttlebutt on mid-range fare. Within industry circles, however, the word-of-mouth was negative about the film despite the fact that it starred Gene Hackman and Barbra Streisand, both then very much at the peak of their acting careers. The film had gone through some almost surrealistic production problems that involved high profile people and had come in massively over the original budget estimate. I recalled thinking the...

Nicholas Meyer’s ‘other’ fantastic film project was ignored for all the wrong reasons; Pierce Brosnan fills a heroic leading role in a revisit of The Stranglers of Bombay, but filmed on location with great attention to authentic details. An officer of the East India Company detects an incredibly murderous cult of Kali-worshipping Thugs, a criminal underclass of thieves that practice ritual mass murder. The story has roots in history, snarled in colonial injustice and xenophobia. It’s a period picture unafraid to be controversial. Also starring Saeed Jaffrey and Helena Mitchell.

Mary J. Blige has a long, illustrious career, riddled with Top Ten hits, million-selling albums, Grammys, and Oscar nominations. But there’s one project that has particular importance for her: “I have 13 albums, but my second, My Life, is my most important,” she says in a new documentary commemorating the LP, originally released in 1994. While Mary J. Blige’s groundbreaking debut 1992 album “What’s the 411?” put the singer on the map and defined hip-hop soul, many fans feel her second, “My Life,” is the one that defined her.
The album, released when she was just 23 years old, allowed listeners into a confessional box of songs that looked at trauma, abuse and destructive relationships. It speaks to her generation and those before and after, and continues to do so. Songs like “Mary Jane (All Night Long),” “I’m the Only Woman” and “I’m Goin’ Down” combine hip-hop, gospel and soul, and opened an emotional door not just for Blige, but her fans.
While on tour behind the album’s 25 th anniversary, Blige decided it was time to document “where all this pain came from — I wanted to talk to the fans,” she says.
