Angela Lansbury and Denholm Elliott make this movie glow green for IRELAND

It would have to be a really bad show for these two stars (Angela and Denholm not to shine. I'm glad they worked together before Denholm died. Combining a woman's yearning a man's frustration, a great Bishop Robert Prosky) and the Catholic church with wry humor and even a pregnant cat makes for a wonderful story.

The novel that the movie "The Love She Sought" is based on is "A Green Journey" by Jon Hassler. Angela Lansbury's character is Agatha McGee, a retired teacher and principal from Staggerford, Minnesota. Jon Hassler also wrote "Staggerford" where Agatha McGee is first introduced. Jon Hassler also wrote "Dear James" which takes place after "A Green Journey" when Agatha McGee is back in Staggerford, Minnesota.

Poignant Love Story

If you love "the Irish" and know that love happens...and not just to the young...this may be what you are looking for. It is a sweet story about a relationship that grows over years.You might be able to predict the ending but you will want to watch it again. Angelia is excellent ...supporting cast could be stronger.If you liked "Shadowland" or "Simply Sarah" you will enjoy this! A story that a woman who has given much and served others can find something some happiness for herself.This might be in the category of a "chick flick" for mature women, but my spouse enjoyed it too! In comparison with more recent love stories it is far more subdued but a touching sweet story...wish we had more of them!

I have been trying to find a copy of The Love She Sought and have been unsuccessful. Can anyone help and let me know where I can get a copy? This movie has touched me and has stayed with me since I first saw it on TV and I would definitely like to see it again. I can remember that this movie was a topic of a lot of conversation for some time with my friends and I. It was so touching how she portrayed that her impression of her friend turned out not to be what she had thought for all that time. Angela Lansbury is such a versatile actress and I think that this is the best TV movie with her in it that I have ever seen. I have watched others, but not have left me with such a long lasting good impression. I would also like to know if any of her other movies are similar to this one because I would also like to watch it. THANK YOU!!!
