It’s a beautifully rare thing when a movie franchise can manage to continue with one fantastic entry after another and never put a foot wrong. It’s sadly far too common for a film series to start off great and then decline in quality over the years as audiences are subjected to new installments in a franchise that should have called it quits long ago. That’s why it's important to lavish praise upon series that have done things right and kept viewers continually excited for each new top-quality release.
Many of the greatest movie franchises of all time are still ongoing and have managed to maintain their appeal over the years. From classic horror releases that have stayed relevant for decades to once-dormant franchises that have triumphantly returned, it’s a truly impressive achievement on the part of actors, directors, and writers that all these series have yet...

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Sonic the Hedgehog 3!Jim Carrey's performance in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a high point in a long career of great performances, and this has been the case throughout the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Each of the movies sees him playing the character of Doctor Ivo Robotnik, also known as Doctor Eggman, as he attempts to thwart Sonic and friends and take over the world. There are also a fair number of Easter eggs in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, something that the character of Robotnik often leans into.
On the whole, Carrey's acting performance as the franchise's main villain is punctuated by an endless energy and physical comedy that works well for the character. Carrey has a certain over-the-top style he brings to his roles, and this lends itself perfectly to Doctor Robotnik. Now that a fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been confirmed,...

Speed is crucial in anime battles for landing hits and dodging; speedsters are valuable. Characters like Sonic, Minato, and Killua are known for their unimaginable speed. Mastering speed not only showcases power, but also delights fans and adds excitement to shows.
Fans should be careful not to blink while they watch these shows otherwise they will miss the fastest anime characters ever. Super strength, elemental magic, and the errant hand laser are perfectly fine, but the greatest powers in the world are no good if you can’t land a hit. Speed can mean the difference between life and death in an all-out anime battle.
Speedsters are some of the most valuable members of their team. They’re confident show-offs who delight in pushing themselves to the limit and dazzling people with their power. Though sometimes that confidence can come back to bite them, most often their speed propels them easily to the top.

The development history behind Rodea the Sky Soldier is a troubled and unorthodox one. Developed by Prope and designed by Yuji Naka of Sonic the Hedgehog and Nights into Dreams fame, the title originally wrapped development as a Wii exclusive back in 2011. The release was held back several years, during which a 3Ds port was additionally developed and the original version was revamped to be a Wii U title.
With such a long development period, and an iconic figure like Naka on board, one would hope that the final product would be memorable. Unfortunately, that is far from the case. Rodea is, unfortunately, visually bland, tricky to control, and usually more frustrating than fun. It shows its age in many aspects, and feels like a botched transition between consoles in terms of the control scheme and mechanics. Players looking for the next Japanese sleeper hit will have to look elsewhere.

Rodea: The Sky Soldier, the latest title from Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka, is very close to its November 10th North American release, courtesy of Nis America. To celebrate, the developer released a new trailer today for the Wii U version of the game, showcasing some of the large-scale boss fights that the titular robot Rodea will get involved in.
Bosses will include a phoenix-like robot, a flying serpent, and some other giants that definitely seem to be drawing from Shadow of the Colossus in terms of visual design. Since much of the gameplay consists of Rodea soaring through expansive environments and making use of a lock-on target system for attacks, players will need to aim him carefully to hit the weak spots on each enemy.
We’ll have a review of Rodea: The Sky Soldier up shortly, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out the trailer above...

Nis America still plans to release the long-delayed Rodea the Sky Soldier on both Wii U and 3Ds this year, but those interested in playing the latest title from Sonic the Hedgehog and NiGHTS into Dreams creator Yuji Naka will have to wait slightly longer than originally planned.
While previously set for an October 13 release in North America, Nis America has rescheduled both versions of the game to launch on November 10 in North America and November 13 in Europe. While the game has been confirmed for a digital release on the Nintendo eShop, some enticing bonuses are being offered for gamers who buy physical copies.
Launch copies of the 3Ds version will come bundled with a copy of the game’s soundtrack, and first print Wii U copies will include the original, unreleased Wii version of the game that was created before transitioning to Nintendo’s current consoles.

From the creator of Sonic The Hedgehog comes Rodea The Sky Soldier. Here's a brand new trailer...
Yuji Naka was still a teenager when he joined Sega in the early 80s, and his early work included programming duties on the likes of Phantasy Star and the Sega Mega Drive conversion of Ghouls N Ghosts.
But in the early 90s, he headed up the game that would make Sega globally famous: the high-octane platformer, Sonic The Hedgehog. Until he left the company in 2006 to found his own company, Prope, Naka continued to produce various Sonic sequels and spin-offs, but also headed up some refreshingly different games, too, including Burning Rangers and the superb Nights Into Dreams.
Naka's latest game is called Rodea The Sky Soldier, which is coming out this autumn for the 3Ds, Wii and Wii U. It's a much more ambitious game than Naka's other games he's created through Prope,...

Super Mario has never been cool. Yes, he’s probably the most beloved videogame character in the world, and yes, he’s the star of some of the best videogames ever made. But Mario is beloved because of his goofy nobility: He’s a regular blue-collar dude with a Deadwood mustache, and he always does the right thing, whether that means rescuing a princess or providing financial support for his tragic brother, Luigi. He’s the Jimmy Stewart of videogame heroes.
