The music world just lost another great. Larry Tamblyn, who helped start the legendary garage-rock band The Standells, passed away on Friday, March 21, at 82. He was the man behind the keyboard and sometimes stepped up to the mic as lead singer, a true standout in the 1960s rock scene.
The Standells might not ring a bell for younger folks today, but their impact is huge. Back in the day, people called them the “punk band of the 1960s,” and people can hear their influence in bands like the S*x Pistols and Ramones. Their anthem, Dirty Water, still gets the crowd going at Boston Red Sox and Bruins home games.

But who was Larry Tamblyn when he wasn’t rocking out? Beyond that famous song and garage sound was a guy with a life story most fans never got to hear.

Lisa Kudrow is remembering her late Friends co-star Matthew Perry, who died in October at the age of 54, in the form of a thank you note.
“Shot the pilot, Friends Like Us, got picked up then immediately, we were at the NBC Upfronts,” Kudrow’s message, posted on Instagram Wednesday, began. “Then… You suggested we play poker and made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that. Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face every day. Thank you for your open...

And "Madagascar 3" with the upset! Last week, while everyone's chips were on Ridley Scott's "Prometheus," the animated sequel took out the rest of the competition with $60 million in ticket sales. Will kids flick make it two weekends in a row? Who knows. From"Men In Black" to "Snow White and The Huntsman," the box office has been quite fickle-hearted as of late. Now, with the release of the big-screen adaptation of "Rock of Ages," Noah Baumbach's family film may be the next one-and-done victim. (Although, don't count out Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg's comedy, "That's My Boy," as the surprise underdog.) Let's take a look at the all predictions and reviews in Moviefone's Weekend Movie Preview. Nationwide Releases "Rock of Ages" What's the story? Starring a bevy of stars -- Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin and Paul Giamatti -- the broadway...

DGA sued over foreign levies
Director William Webb has sued the DGA for allegedly overstepping its authority in collecting foreign levies on behalf of nonmembers, echoing a nearly identical suit Webb's attorneys filed against the WGA in the fall. Webb (Sunset Strip, California Girls), who has never belonged to the DGA, is seeking class-action status for the Los Angeles Superior Court action filed Thursday on behalf of any other person who is allegedly owed foreign levies by the DGA. "This secret collection and retention of monies has been going on for 14 years," according to the lawsuit. "In the case of Webb and other nonmembers of the union, DGA has not obtained from them the right to collect such monies, nor informed them that it has collected such monies, nor paid out such monies."...
