Exclusive: Film tech firm Gathr, known for its “direct to audience” services for specialty film releases, is expanding and has hired a trio of senior executives.

The new arrivals include Neil Creque Williams, Head of Filmmaker Relations & Concierge Services; Jeffrey Abramson, Head of Strategic Partnerships & Brand Marketing; Chris Horton, Senior Strategist, Business Development & Film.

Williams previously produced the Independent Spirit Award and Sundance Grand Jury Prize nominated film Miss Juneteenth. He is an alum of the Sundance Creative Producing Lab, The Gotham Cannes Producer Fellowship and has been supported by the Austin Film Society and Cucalorus. Williams was an inaugural 2023 Blumhouse/K Period Screamwriting fellow for his horror script The Plat-Eye.

Now that Juliette is outside of the silo, the people inside want to know what’s going on. It means unrest is growing in Silo season 2, episode 2.

The premiere episode did not disappoint. It was mostly just Juliette on her own, and Rebecca Ferguson did an outstanding job. We got to see a little of what the world outside is like, and we had a chance to see the world of another, identical silo.

It’s clear that one rebellion has happened. We also got a brief look at Solo, who will become an important character. However, don’t expect to learn anything about him in the new episode. When we got ready for Silo season 2, we were warned that the second episode would take place in Silo 18.

New York Film Festival (NYFF) has unveiled its 60th anniversary edition Main Slate, a roster that includes latest work by imprisoned Iranian auteur Jafar Panahi, Park Chan-wook, Joanna Hogg, Todd Field, Kelly Reichardt and Claire Denis.

As previously announced, Noah Baumbach’s White Noise and Elegance Bratton’s The Inspection bookend the festival, Laura Poitras’s documentary All The Beauty And The Bloodshed is the Centrepiece screening and James Gray’s Armageddon Time is the NYFF 60th Anniversary Celebration screening.

The 60th New York Film Festival on Tuesday unveiled its main slate of movies from established and upcoming directors including Cannes’ Palme d’Or winner Triangle of Sadness by Ruben Östlund, Claire Denis’ Stars at Noon (tied for Cannes Grand Prize), Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave (Cannes Best Director) and Charlotte Wells’ debut feature Aftersun (Cannes’ French Touch Jury Prize).

The list of 32 films from 18 countries also features Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes, which took the Sundance Grand Jury Prize in World Cinema and the l’Oeil d’Or for best documentary at Cannes. Another selection, Carla Simón’s Alcarràs, was awarded the Golden Bear at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival.

The 60th New York Film Festival’s Main Slate will consist of 32 titles from directors such as Claire Denis, Paul Schrader, Margaret Brown, Park Chan-wook, Kelly Reichardt and Mia Hansen-Løve, organizers said Tuesday.

As previously announced, the festival is set to kick off on Sept. 30 with Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” and close with the Oct. 14 premiere of Elegance Bratton’s “The Inspection.” The Centerpiece selection is “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed,” Laura Poitras’ documentary about photographer Nan Goldin’s fight against the Sackler family and the opioid epidemic. James Gray will make his third NYFF showing with his film “Armageddon Time,” which will also screen at a special event celebrating the festival’s 60th anniversary.

The Toronto International Film Festival lineup continues to unfold, with TIFF announcing the programs for its Midnight Madness, Discovery, and Wavelengths programs on Thursday. The festival runs September 8 through 18.

“Weird: The Weird Al Yankovic Story” will make its world premiere at TIFF, leading the Midnight Madness program’s 10-film lineup.

Starring Daniel Radcliffe as “Weird Al” Yankovic, the film chronicles the career of the music and comedy icon. Directed by Eric Appel, who co-wrote with Yankovic himself, the cast of the Roku biopic also includes Evan Rachel Wood, Quinta Brunson and Rainn Wilson.

As Midnight Madness’ opening night film, “Weird: The Weird Al Yankovic Story” will premiere on Sept. 8 at 11:59 Est.

The best word to describe Unrest is “clever.” It isn’t on the level of the artisans and thinkers it lovingly portrays—all the graphers and the ists—but not so far off; and more than enough to be worthy of their story. Consider the title’s neat duality. “Unrest,” as the film explains, is another name for a wristwatch’s balance wheel: an instrument that, working in tandem with the spiral and escapement, creates the mechanism that makes it tick. Like many of his countrymen, Swiss filmmaker Cyril Schäublin has watchmaking in his blood, a legacy he can trace back through his grandparents’ generation. That influence is apparent in his meticulously crafted second feature, “Unrest,” whose historical and philosophical parts fit together as smoothly as the gears of a Swiss timepiece.

“Unrest” is set in the 19th century in Switzerland’s Saint-Imier valley, a region famous for watchmaking which also became the political epicenter of that era’s growing international anarchist movement. Based on historical events, it tells the story of a woman, Josephine, who works in a watch factory and struggles to make ends meet. As she gradually grows uneasy with the influence of industrialization and capitalism in her village, she decides to join a local anarchist workers movement where she meets Piotr Kropotkin, a mysterious Russian traveller.

The BFI has announced the 20 producers and production companies that are set to share up to £2 million ($2.5 million) in funding through its Vision Awards.

The fourth edition of the coveted BFI Vision Awards, which cover a two-year period, provides a maximum of £50,000 per year to each of the 20 producers or producing teams.

Recipients this year include “God’s Own Country” producer Manon Ardisson; “Chubby Funny” producer Helen Simmons; Oliver Kassman, producer of Toronto International Film Festival contender “Saint Maud;” and Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor, producer of crime drama “Blue Story.”

Other recipients include Kate Byers and Linn Waite, founder of Bristol-based Early Day Films, who won the 2020 BAFTA for best debut feature “Bait”; Little by Little Films’ Lindsey Dryden whose credits include Sundance Special Jury Award-winning and Oscar shortlisted feature documentary “Unrest”; and Pietro Greppi of Lunapark Pictures who produced Andrew Steggall’s BFI-backed debut “Departure.”

"You've been great! We've been Dyver Down! Good night!" The classic line screamed by Lance Rockett in each episode of "Holliston" has become one of the catch phrases of the show, and now we're going to get our first look at the band during a first-ever "Holliston" marathon.

On August 5, FEARnet, the home channel of "Holliston", is going to present a "Holliston" marathon, and during the all-day event you'll get a look at the video for Rockett's band, Dyver Down's, original song "Love It Down Your Throat." Rockett is, of course, played by Dee Snider. This is all to prepare fans for the "Holliston" Season 2 finale on August 6.

We're all excited for Adam Green and Joe Lynch's upcoming sitcom "Holliston", and as an East Coaster, I'm doubly excited to see a little favoritism when it comes to having the opportunity to check out the first two episodes early.

That's right, Boston folk, head on over to Emerson College on Tuesday night, March 13th at 7:00 Pm for an opportunity to see "Holliston" before it airs. Best of all? Series creator and star Adam Green will be joined by co-stars Joe Lynch, Corri English, and Laura Ortiz as they present not just one, but two episodes of the upcoming sitcom. This event is open to the public, and seating is first-come/first-served. Doors open at 6:30 pm in the Bright Family Screening Room at the Paramount Center on the Emerson College campus.

Shock Till You Drop have revealed the all too revealing teaser poster for Joe Lynch ('Knights of Badassdom') and Adam Green's ('Hatchet') new FEARnet original series 'Holliston'. And thanks to a well positioned camera, guitar, skull and paint palette four of the main cast members - Joe Lynch, Corri English ('Unrest'), Adam Green and Laura Ortiz ('The Hills Have Eyes'), manage to just about hide their shame. We were pretty sure FEARnet would be putting its upcoming horror sitcom "Holliston" on the air during the network's Tuesday night "Twisted Comedy" block, and we've gotten confirmation of that along with the show's official premiere date (April 3, 2012) and a list of some guest stars and celebrity cameos to be on the lookout for.
