The show could’ve beaten all odds and went on to achieve The Mandalorian-level success by doing a few things right. There was indeed one person from Star Wars‘ most successful TV series, who could’ve done justice to the storyline exploring the dark side.

The Mandalorian brought in actress Bryce Dallas Howard to direct an episode for each of its three seasons. Dallas’ directorial prowess was clearly visible in the Season One episode Sanctuary, which explored the human side of Din Djarin. She also hit the right spots with one of the most beautiful relationships in the Disney Star Wars world.

Despite being released in 2015, Fallout 4 continues to attract new players, helped in no small part by Amazon Prime's hit Fallout series. As with many RPGs, Fallout 4 allows you to create different character builds based on seven core stats that can be increased as you level up. But with so many build options, and the optional Survival Mode to consider, it can be difficult for those starting out to know which stats to focus on first.

When starting in Fallout 4, you will be asked to choose your starting stats at the door by the Vault-Tec Rep during the pre-war introduction. It is here that any build being used should be considered. For example, a gunslinger build would want high Agility, whereas a melee character would want to focus on Strength. Each stat influences different aspects of the character and unlocks key Perks, but some are good for any build.

We spoke to Blumhouse producer Beatriz Sequeira leading up to the release of Speak No Evil, a buzzy new psychological thriller that is being especially praised for the reliably superb James McAvoy's performance. It hits theaters tomorrow, Sep. 13, and Sequeira who serves as executive producer on the film has been keeping busy with other highly anticipated projects by Blumhouse, such as Wolf Man, starring Christopher Abbott in the eponymous role. Originally, Ryan Gosling was set to play the iconic character, and ironically, Abbott and Gosling have starred together in a big film (First Man). Sequeira weighed in on the change:

Christopher Andrews’ Bring Them Down is an endurance test with no payoff. Opening with a jarring car crash on a windy road in rural Ireland, the film soon adds scenes of gruesome animal cruelty, an ear literally being blown off someone’s head, and then further sequences of gruesome animal cruelty. Such onscreen acts can be tremendously moving, of course, when presented in great films––Andrea Arnold’s 2021 documentary Cow a recent example.

Bring Them Down is not a great film. It’s occasionally compelling thanks to its haunting, almost otherworldly locations in Ireland. Mainly, though, what stands out are performances of the ever-intense Christopher Abbott, Nora-Jane Noone, and, most notably, Barry Keoghan. But the actors serve a drama that is relentlessly violent and thoroughly unpleasant. It’s a testament to these performers that they make so much of so little.

Nowadays, The Mandalorian is a massive Star Wars event. Fans eagerly await new episodes of the space opera series, and it seems as if every new installment connects to some other portion of the larger Star Wars universe. From the resurrection of Return of the Jedi-era Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) to the return of Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), the series has almost singlehandedly restored the franchise to its most iconic roots. But in the first season, all of that was different. Din Djarin's (Pedro Pascal) initial appearances were pretty standalone compared to later seasons and set the tone for a new sort of Star Wars adventure. But of all of these first-season escapades, it's the Bryce Dallas Howard-directed "Chapter 4: Sanctuary" that most stands out, hearkening back to the Western roots of the Star Wars franchise.

Exclusive: Netflix’s highly-anticipated adaptation of the acclaimed novel East Of Eden looks to be adding another big name as sources tell Deadline Christopher Abbott is in negotiations to join Florence Pugh in the limited series. Zoe Kazan is writing and exec producing and Pugh is also on board to co-produce.

BBC’s “Video Nasty” Cast Announced for Upcoming Comedy-Drama...

Netflix will next month upload its first Japanese same-sex dating reality TV series, “The Boyfriend.”

The show takes nine men to a beach house in order to find love. For a month, they live together and take turns working shifts at a coffee truck, forging deep friendships and learning about themselves along the way.

The show will also be hosted by an eclectic mix of personalities including Megumi, Horan Chiaki, Thelma Aoyama, drag queen Durian Lollobrigida and Yoshimi Tokui.

Starting July 9, new episodes will be released every Tuesday, with a total of 10 episodes over four weeks.

Margaret Qualley sets out to spank, seduce, and scourge Christopher Abbott in the sexy blackmail drama “Sanctuary.”

Qualley stars as dominatrix Rebecca, whose elite client Hal (Abbott) wants to end their psychosexual relationship after inheriting his late father’s empire. However, Rebecca has other things in mind to punish him. The film takes place over one night in a hotel room.

The official trailer has been released for Zachary Wigon’s dark thriller “Sanctuary,” starring Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbott. The film follows a dominatrix named Rebecca (Qualley) and her rich client Hal (Abbott) as disaster unfolds over the course of a single night in a hotel room.

The film first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022 and will open in theaters in the U.S. on May 25.

Anthony Hines and Casper Christensen co-direct and co-wrote the screenplay about a womaniser and a gold digger who must team up and go after robot versions of themselves who have fallen for each other.

The screenplay is based on a short story by Robert Sheckley. Hines co-wrote Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Christensen co-wrote the Danish comedy Klown.

Netflix will give a May launch to “Sanctuary,” a sports drama series set in the specialized world of Japanese sumo wrestling.

Produced by the Slowtide company for the streamer, the show follows a juvenile delinquent who becomes a sumo apprentice. He soon finds himself on a collision course with a voiceless wrestler carrying a secret.

Netflix pitches it as “a gritty look into the underbelly of professional sumo, a world full of young men with ambitions for money, women, fame, and power […] where some may find sanctuary with a history of more than 1,500 years in Japan’s traditional culture and as a religious ceremony.”

Until the great gears at Amazon start turning and give us a new Stargate series, we’ll have to make do with the classics. Fortunately, Stargate Sg-1 gave us 10 seasons, two spin-offs (three if you count Stargate Infinity... which you don’t), and two direct-to-home movies (three if you count Stargate Origins... which you don’t).

Unfortunately, unless you still have your treasured DVD box set and still have a DVD player in 2023, it can be a full-time job trying to work out where to stream Stargate Sg-1.

The Mandalorian has quickly become one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars franchise. Pedro Pascal is credited for playing Din Djarin/the Mandalorian, but did you know he isn't always in the suit? During the 2022 Star Wars Celebration event, Pascal joked that Grogu has "two other daddies" because it takes multiple people to bring the character to life. So, who's really wearing the helmet? Well, it's actually a combined effort between Pascal and his doubles Brendan Wayne (who is the grandson of John Wayne) and Lateef Crowder, who both bring their own unique skills to the Mandalorian character.

In the 2020 docuseries "Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian," Pascal explained that Wayne and Crowder are behind a lot of the character's mannerisms and stuntwork. "I'm modeling my performance around their physicality in a lot of ways, and I wouldn't be able to do it without them,...

The "Star Wars" franchise has always been connected. Even in the very beginning, before the character of Luke Skywalker became fully formed, George Lucas planned to connect the different stories of his galaxy far, far away with the framing device of a "Journal of the Whills." While that concept was ultimately abandoned, Lucas never stopped trying to connect his different "Star Wars" projects. 

There were the movies, which went back in time to tell the story of how the galaxy ended up the way it is in the original trilogy, but also the "Clone Wars" cartoons were all connected. But the version of "Star Wars" Lucas created and was therefore considered canon is not the same as the Expanded Universe with multiple moving parts and interweaving stories.

Instead, the prequels were, well, direct predecessors to the story of the original trilogy while "The Clone Wars" served to retroactively fill in...

Joseph Campbell's hero's journey, aka the monomyth, has long formed the backbone of so much of "Star Wars." Where George Lucas' original "Star Wars" trilogy embraced the template, his prequel films sought to undermine it by questioning whether the very idea of a Chosen One could end up doing more harm than good. Ahead of the upcoming open beta test weekend, Blizzard Entertainment has released a new “World of Sanctuary” video for Diablo IV. This new series of developer insight videos aims to highlight “the wealth of features and design inspirations that make Sanctuary a world worth exploring”.

In this first entry, members of the Diablo IV team discuss how players will be able to jump into an all-immersive experience, and how the team crafted the darkest and most expansive version of Sanctuary in the series. Highlights include:

The art style in Diablo IV is shadowed and macabre, in many ways reminiscent of the grisly atmosphere of Diablo II. There are five unique zones, each with their own grim environments and themed dungeons to match. One of the artistic goals was to make every scene look and feel like a painting, so every color and texture was meticulously made to accomplish the desired grim design.

The Miami Film Festival will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year. The festival, which runs from March 3 to March 12, includes 12 world premieres. The event will open with Ray Romano’s “Somewhere in Queens” and close with Stephen Frears’ “The Lost King.” The festival will screen a total of 140 films from more than 30 countries.

Director of programming Lauren Cohen said, “In our fourth decade of programming, we’re proud to continue bringing a diversity of top-quality films to increasingly sophisticated audiences.”

Four centerpiece presentations will take place during the festival, spotlighting key films with directors in attendance for post-screening Q&As. The Islekeep's Iron Hatchet is a new Tool in the Island Sanctuary for Final Fantasy Xiv that Farmers of Light can use to harvest new resources from trees, such as Island Resin, Island Coconuts, or Island Beehive Chips. This Hatchet serves as an upgrade from the Stone and Bronze Tools that players used previously before Patch 6.3. With the new materials obtainable with the Iron Hatchet, players can continue to develop their island paradise and craft new recipes for their Home Sweet Hideaway. However, a prerequisite must be met before players receive the Hatchet's crafting recipe from Felicitous Furball.

To unlock the Islekeep's Iron Hatchet in the Island Sanctuary of Final Fantasy Xiv, players must reach Rank 10 and have crafted all the previous Tools before this upgrade. Since World of Warcraft Classic lets players relive the Mmo’s early days, Blizzard is slowly reintroducing fans to classic raids and dungeons. Soon, Wrath of the Lich King Classic players will even be able to experience the original version of one of the game’s best raids, Ulduar. The question now is, “When will Ulduar be released?”

According to the official WoW Classic site, Ulduar will be released for Alliance and Horde players at 3 Pm Pst on January 19. There has been no indication that there will be a staggered global release schedule at this time, though it’s possible that will change in the final moments. At the very least, this is a bit of an unusual release time compared to prior Classic updates.

The Grey's Anatomy season 6 finale remains the highest-rated episode of the show's run. Inspired by and offering tribute to unapologetic social media influencers like the slain Qandeel Baloch, the film is set in the world of patriarchal social media trolling and the burgeoning underground scene of the so-called “misfits” in modern-day Pakistan. It follows a Pakistani schoolteacher who accidentally unleashes the power of social media, unabashedly challenging the patriarchy. As she tries to keep her online identity a secret, she’s gradually exposed to society’s dangerous underbelly and forced to manage the repercussions.

According to dialogue in Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos only slaughtered half of the surviving Asgardian refugees. That's perfectly in character for the Mad Titan, whose goal is literally to kill off half the life in the universe. It would make sense for him to have done the same to the refugee vessel. But the lack of exposition has left viewers troubled, because it's not quite clear how any Asgardians survived in the first place. The post-credits scene for Thor: Ragnarok saw the Asgardian refugee vessel intercepted by Thanos' Sanctuary II. Infinity War's opening scenes clearly take place shortly after, with Thanos and the Black Order walking among the dead and dying. Thor has already been defeated, a handful of secondary characters including Valkyrie are mysteriously absent, and the refugee ship has essentially become a ship of the dead.
