Blumhouse has delivered some of the most prominent and well-known post-2000s horror franchises, from the Paranormal Activity films to the Insidious saga & Happy Death Day twofer, to standalone riveters such as The Invisible Man, The Vigil, Sweetheart and Sick. Yet occasionally, a smaller genre flick sporting the distinguished brand darts through the cracks and escapes wider viewership - and Curve is one such film. The name Blumhouse is associated with horror in the classic sense, from revivalist slasher fare to cerebral spine-tinglers — dig deep enough and one unearths some real gems. In spite of the high-profile production company's name being attached to the 2015 potboiler, it remains relatively unknown despite its late night drive-in cinematic appeal. Its obscurity is a shame, considering its agreeably pulpy thrills and director Iain Softley's fast-paced approach to a fairly lean, uncomplicated story.

Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, and AFI are among the bands, artists, and fans who have donated more than $200,000 to a GoFundMe for Sick of It All singer Lou Koller after his recent cancer diagnosis.

As we reported last week, Koller was diagnosed with a tumor in his esophagus, forcing Sick of It All to cancel their European tour. A GoFundMe was subsequently launched, revealing that the tumor is cancerous (adenocarcinoma), and many of his peers in the punk-rock community have donated to help out with his medical bills and loss of income while off the road.

Of the 4,000-plus donations that have come in so far, the aforementioned bands Rancid, Dropkick Murphys, and AFI have made the largest donations at $5,000 each.

Slipknot donned 1999-style red jumpsuits and masks for their first concert of 2024 on Thursday (April 25th), kicking off a year-long 25th anniversary celebration of their classic self-titled album. The show also marked the masked metal act’s first gig with its new drummer, presumed to be ex-Sepultura stickman Eloy Casagrande.

A couple months ago, we heard that Blue Harbor Entertainment had acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the horror thriller Trim Season and were planning to give it a theatrical and On Demand release sometime in June. A job at a marijuana farm turns nightmarish in director Ariel Vida’s Trim Season, and Blue Harbor Entertainment has released the trailer just in time for 4/20 this weekend.

Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures wanted to move quickly on Scream 7… then the version of the film they wanted to move quickly on crumbled piece by piece. Scream (2022) and Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are finishing work on their Universal Monsters movie Abigail (formerly known as Dracula’s Daughter), so with returning writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick working on the script, the companies hired Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon to direct the film and started reaching out to actors.
