Black Snow Season 2 Sets April US Premiere on AMC+...

The season two trailer for Black Snow teases that dark secrets run deep. AMC+ unveiled the official trailer along with announcing the much-anticipated second season will premiere on April 24, 2025. The season will kick off with the release of the first two episodes, with new episodes streaming on Thursdays.

Travis Fimmel reprises his starring role as Detective Cormack. Jana McKinnon (Bad Behaviour) returns as Zoe Jacobs. Season two also stars Megan Smart (Class of ’07), Alana Mansour (Erotic Stories), Dan Spielman (The Newsreader), Victoria Haralabidou (The Tourist), and Kat Stewart (Offspring).

“In season two, Fimmel reprises his role as Detective Cormack as he tackles two separate missing persons cases. One is professional, as he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs (McKinnon), from her own 21st birthday party in 2003,” reads AMC+’s Black Snow synopsis. “And the other is personal, as Cormack searches desperately for his own younger brother, who went missing when they were children.

The mystery continues as AMC+ has announced the return of Black Snow for its second season with a stirring first trailer. The critically acclaimed Australian crime drama, starring Travis Fimmel (Dune: Prophecy) and Jana McKinnon (Bad Behaviour), will premiere with a two-episode debut on Thursday, April 24, with new episodes following weekly after that. Fimmel will be reprising his role as Det. James Cormack for the second season, with the police officer now investigating two missing persons cases: one highly personal and the other just the latest in a long line of professional crimes to solve.

The “For All Mankind” spinoff “Star City” is building out its cast with the addition of three new series regulars.

Variety has learned that Solly McLeod, Agnes O’Casey, and Alice Englert have all signed on to the alt-history drama.

They will appear alongside previously announced cast members Rhys Ifans and Anna Maxwell Martin.

The show was originally announced in April 2024. As previously reported, the series will tell the story the alternative history of the space race like “For All Mankind,” but this time from the Soviet Union perspective.

The official description for the show says it is “a propulsive, paranoid thriller that takes us back to the key moment in the alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. Solly McLeod (House of the Dragon), Agnes O’Casey (Black Doves) & Alice Englert (Bad Behaviour) have joined the cast of Star City, Apple TV+’s upcoming spinoff from the streamer’s space drama For All Mankind. They join previously announced Rhys Ifans and Anna Maxwell Martin.

Created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert and Ronald D. Moore, Star City is another alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humanity forward.

McLeod will play Sasha, a reckless cosmonaut who has yet to live up to his potential.

O’Casey will portray Irina, a recent addition to the surveillance department at Star City.

As per a report by Variety, Australian actress Yerin Ha will be portraying the role of Sophia Beckett in the 4th season of the Netflix show.

“Bridgerton” has cast Yerin Ha as Benedict Bridgerton’s love interest for Season 4.

According to sources, Ha will play Sophie Beckett in the upcoming season of the hit Shondaland-Netflix series. As previously announced, Season 4 will tell Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) love story and will be based on the events of Julia Quinn’s third “Bridgerton” novel, “An Offer From a Gentleman.”

Reps for Netflix and Shondaland declined to comment. Reps for Ha did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Per the official logline for the season, “The fourth season of ‘Bridgerton’ turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

Beckett is the “Lady in Silver.” In the novel, she is the illegitimate daughter of an earl and one his maids.

Following Lucy (Jennifer Connelly), a former child actor attending an enlightenment retreat, and her daughter, Dylan (Englert), the dark comedy switches between these two stories until they converge in the third act. AMC+ and Sundance Now released the first two photos from the upcoming second season of Black Snow as shooting is underway in Queensland. The photos feature returning series star Travis Fimmel (Vikings) as Detective Cormack and series newcomer Jana McKinnon (Bad Behaviour) as Zoe Jacobs.

Season one premiered in December 2022. Sundance Now hasn’t announced a launch date for the six-episode second season.

The first season of “Black Snow” was nominated as ‘most outstanding drama series’ at the 2023 Logie Awards and received two nominations at the 2024 Aacta Awards – for best drama series and best lead actor in a drama, for Fimmel. It sold to all major international territories including the U.S., where it screened on AMC Networks’ streamer Sundance Now. “Black Snow” also won the Screen Business Export Award at the recent Australian Screen Producer Awards.

Exclusive: Jana McKinnon (Bad Behaviour) is among new cast joining Travis Fimmel on the second season of Australian mystery-drama series Black Snow.

Production is underway in Queensland, Australia, on the Stan and Sundance Now original series, with first-look images of Fimmel (Vikings) and McKinnon above. Joining them are Megan Smart (Class of ’07), Alana Mansour (Erotic Stories), Dan Spielman (Bad Behaviour, The Newsreader), Victoria Haralabidou (The Tourist) and Kat Stewart (Offspring).

In season two, Detective Cormack (Fimmel) tackles two separate missing persons cases. One is professional, as he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs (McKinnon), who disappeared from her own 21st birthday party in 2003. The other is personal, as Cormack searches desperately for his own younger brother, who went missing when they were children.

Director Sian Davies (The Gloaming), executive producer Rosemary Blight (The Invisible Man), and series creator Lucas Taylor (Harrow) return for season two, with Helena Brooks (Population 11) joining as a director.

Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures has acquired a pair of starry indies — Alice Englert’s dark comedy Bad Behaviour, starring Jennifer Connelly, and Christian Ditter’s family comedy The Present, starring Isla Fisher and Greg Kinnear. Bad Behaviour opens in limited theaters and on digital and VOD in the U.S. and Canada on June 14, with The Present to hit digital and cable VOD in the U.S. on June 18.

Good Cop/Bad Cop stars Gossip Girls alumna Leighton Meester in her return to the CW, Clancy Brown (Dexter: New Blood) and Australian actor Luke Cook (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina). The series comes from writer John Quaintance (Will & Grace) and marks the latest international co-production for Stan, The CW and Roku, all of which have identified the model as core to their strategies.

Cook and Meester play a brother-sister detective team in a small Pacific Northwest police force who must contend with colourful residents, a serious lack of resources, their very complicated dynamic with each other and their police chief, Big Hank (Clancy Brown), who happens to be their father.

Hot Hosts Head For Hota

Australian actor Rebel Wilson has been named as the emcee of the 2024 edition of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (Aacta) awards. Wilson will take to the stage on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Two days earlier, on Feb. 8, singer and actor Harry Connick Jr. will be the host of the Aacta Industry Awards. Both hosts will be joined by some of the industry’s most dynamic stars presenting at the ceremonies. And both ceremonies, presented by Foxtel Group, will be held at the Home of the Arts (Hota) on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

Fox has found its main cast for the upcoming drama series “Rescue: Hi Surf,” Variety has learned.

The show was originally greenlit at Fox in April 2023. The series regulars will include: Robbie Magasiva, Arielle Kebbel, Adam Demos, Kekoa Kekumano, Alex Aiono, and Zoe Cipres. In addition, Sea Shimooka will appear in a recurring role.

The official description of the series states that it will follow “the personal and professional lives of the heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu—the most famous and dangerous stretch of coastline in the world. Matt Kester wrote the pilot and serves as executive producer and showrunner. John Wells executive produces via John Wells Productions and will direct the first two episodes.

Lucy (Connelly), a former child actress, seeks healing from the traumas of her life. She embarks on a spiritual retreat, only for it to become anything but healing: she’s easily annoyed by the other attendees and wants attention from the retreat’s new-age guru Elon Bello (Whishaw). Even worse, she has become destructively obsessed with the retreat’s celebrity guest, a model named Beverly. As Beverly finds “enlightenment” easily, Lucy’s feelings of insecurity continue to rise to the surface.

During this time, Lucy also tries to connect with her stunt performer adult daughter, Dylan (Englert) who’s currently on set in New Zealand. Dylan’s falling into an obsession of her own: a bad romance with the main actor Elmore, whose insistence on doing his own stunts will have disastrous consequences.
