Peacock is entering new territory with two SNL stars.

The streamer has released a teaser for Colin Jost & Michael Che Present: New York After Dark, Peacock’s first live comedy special, which debuts Thursday, Sept. 12 at 9 pm Et and features the Weekend Update anchors’ favorite NYC club comics.

In a push to bulk up a library of adult-skewing dramas and to expand the brand identity beyond family fare, Disney+ has ordered a raft of scripted originals out of France, Germany and Spain.

Out of Gaul, the streamer has commissioned “The Lost Station Girls,” a true-crime thriller about a two-decades-long inquiry into the murders of four young women in the south-of-France. “Emily in Paris” star Camille Razat will topline the investigation drama produced by Itinéraire, the same outfit behind Disney’s BAFTA nominated “Oussekine,” while Gaëlle Bellan (“Tout Va Bien”) oversees the project. Production is already underway in the city of Perpignan.

In Germany, the period comedy “Vienna Game” will reframe the 1814 Congress of Vienna as a “a seven-month-long party” that takes an irreverent view of European diplomacy while paying deference to women behind the scenes who really got the job done. Bettina Kuhn of Satel Film is set to produce,...

Disney+ has unveiled a proper first look of German-Spanish actor Daniel Brühl as the titular iconic designer in the new show Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, produced by leading French film and TV company Gaumont.

Rush, Good Bye, Lenin! and Captain America: Civil War actor Brühl is shown sporting Lagerfeld’s trademark ponytail and black tailored suit of his later years.

Disney+ has also released a first subtitled trailer for the show.

The new images – which follow a silhouetted image teased by Disney+ in January – were released in unison with the announcement that the show will premiere at the Canneseries TV festival in April.

Gaumont produced the drama with Jour Premier for Disney+, which will launch the six-part bio-series on June 7. The series will be available in the U.S. on Hulu from that same date.

She has relished her role as head of the family in the Disney+ series Everything Is Fine (Tout va bien) in which her self-help guru character Anne Vasseur is plunged into emotional turmoil when her youngest daughter’s child Rose, seven, falls ill with leukaemia and has to undergo a bone marrow transplant. The trauma brings together Anne and her oldest daughter Claire (played by Virginie Efira) as well as other members of the family, including Sara Giraudeau as Marion, the mother of Rose.

It was never Suzy Bemba’s plan to become a professional actress. This year’s European Shooting Star from France had dabbled in performance — “10 years of ballet, maybe six years of singing classes,” she recalls. After a knee injury made it impossible to keep dancing, she switched to acting as “a new way of expression” and started trying out for open auditions, driving with her mother the two and half hours into Paris from their home in the French countryside. Her mother sent out inquiries to French talent agencies, and one agreed to sign Bemba after she graduated high school.

But when Bemba graduated, acting was the last thing on her mind. “I wanted to go to med school, that was always the dream, so when I graduated, that’s what I did,” she says. “I kind of forgot about the idea of acting.”

Disney+ has unveiled the first look of Daniel Brühl as Karl Lagerfeld in ‘Kaiser Karl’ (working title), the new French Original series which chronicles the rise of Lagerfeld through the world of 1970s Parisian high fashion.

The year is 1972. Lagerfeld, aged thirty-eight, is a little-known fashion designer. After meeting and falling in love with Jacques de Bascher, he finds himself in competition with Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, the head of the most prestigious fashion brand around. And so, begins the story of ‘Kaiser Karl’, a mix of romance, ambition, and a tireless quest for recognition.

The series was created and adapted for television by Isaure Pisani-Ferry, Jennifer Have and Raphaëlle Bacqué, author of the eponymous biography, published by Albin Michel in 2019 and translated into six languages. The Original series is directed by Jérôme Salle and Audrey Estrougo.
