Now, Nichols’ legacy will continue as, per Trek Movie, The Nichelle Nichols Foundation and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama have teamed up for a new space camp geared toward women. Nichols’ work with NASA was the focus of the documentary, Woman in Motion.

The Nichelle Nichols Space Camp will begin in January 2026 and will be open to young women between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. The three-day camp will combine astronaut training, like zero-gravity drills and spacesuit testing, with new topics like colonizing Mars and possibly contacting extraterrestrial life.

Whether due to alternate universes or weird transporter malfunctions, several Star Trek characters have met their doubles. Doppelganger storylines have been a trope of Star Trek since one of the earliest episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series season 1, episode 5, "The Enemy Within." Almost every Star Trek series since has featured at least one story where a character encounters an alternate version of themselves. This trope is not unique to Star Trek, of course, as many science fiction and fantasy stories have found creative ways to incorporate multiple versions of the same character.

Like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with its many variants of classic characters, Star Trek has introduced its own kind of multiverse. Star Trek began exploring this idea back in the 1960s with the evil Mirror Universe, but modern Trek has greatly expanded the concept. With time travel shenanigans, pesky wormholes, and technical issues, it's no surprise that duplicates pop up so often.

This Time Each Year will premiere on Hallmark Mystery on Thursday, October 24, and marks Alison Sweeney’s 30th movie for the network. “I was shocked,” Sweeney admits of the milestone. “I had no idea and then I started counting them up and realized it was true. "Rocky IV" held the mantle as the highest-grossing sports movie for decades, solidifying its status as one of the best entries in the storied franchise that has followed Rocky Balboa from the hard streets of Philly to the cold mountain tops of Siberia. Star Trek: Lower Decks could potentially reunite Captain William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Ensign Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid) with their doppelgangers that were created in transporter mishaps. In the Star Trek: The Next Generation season 6 episode "Second Chances," Riker discovers that a clone of him was created eight years earlier through a transporter accident when he was evacuating a scientific outpost while serving on the USS Potemkin. The doppelganger would eventually go by his middle name, Thomas, and departed the Enterprise-d at episode's end to start his life anew.

Exclusive: A+E Networks veteran Gena McCarthy is stepping down as EVP and Head of Programming, Lifetime Unscripted and Head of Programming. fyi, and is leaving the company after 10 years. Search is underway for her replacement.

“Gena is an exceptional person and creative executive,” said Paul Buccieri, President of A+E Networks Group. “We thank her for her leadership, and for her many lasting contributions to the company, and wish her ongoing success.”

McCarthy joined Lifetime in 2010 as SVP Reality and Alternative. She developed and produced the network’s first wave of homegrown hit reality shows following the acquisition of Project Runway, including Dance Moms, Bring It!, Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, Project Runway All-Stars, Preachers’ Daughters, and The Week the Women Went. She also managed ongoing production of Project Runway.

In 2013, McCarthy moved to A+E’s Bio as content chief ahead of the network’s transformation into lifestyle brand fyi 10 months later.

Jonathan Frakes just returned as Will Riker this year in Star Trek: Picard, the first time he’d reprised the role in 15 years. But, in another timeline, Riker could’ve been killed off during Star Trek: The Next Generation and Frakes would’ve been playing Riker’s doppelgänger Thomas ever since.

In season 6’s “Second Chances,” the Enterprise-d crew discover that a transporter accident several years ago created a double of Riker. While he beamed back aboard the U.S.S. Potemkin, another Riker rematerialized on Nervala IV, where he was eventually discovered and rescued by Picard and co. The episode saw Riker and the rest deal with the sudden appearance of this new Riker, who took the name Thomas, before Picard got him a new posting on the U.S.S. Gandhi.

Last week, I was tasked with picking my favorite moments from the Rocky series for a piece tied to the release of “40 Years of Rocky: The Birth of a Classic,” now available on digital platforms. As a result, I ended up consuming all eight “Rocky” movies (including the two “Creed” films) over the course of 72 hours. In addition to feeling energized and a need to hum “Eye of the Tiger” nonstop, here’s a few things I picked up on during that marathon.

After 11 episodes of “Survivor: Winners at War” only eight former champions remain in the main game while 11 others inhabit the Edge of Extinction awaiting their last chance to leave the jury and re-enter the competition. Last week, “Cagayan” winner Tony Vlachos dominated the game from all angles, putting him in a power position as the game nears its close, but placing an even bigger target on his back as he remains only one of two players in the game without a vote cast against them.

In the coming weeks Tony’s biggest job will be keeping the eyes off of him and on other players, but that may prove difficult now that he’s betrayed the trust of his closest ally, Sarah Lacina. In theory a game of “Survivor” featuring only champion players should mean that the two tribes start on an even playing field, but after three episodes of “Survivor: Winners at War” it seems the Sele tribe players are on a quickly sinking ship. Plagued by a does-it-or-doesn’t-it-exist divide between “old school” and “new school” players, Sele has failed to come together to win two of the three immunity challenges in the game so far, forcing them to attend tribal council where they voted to send Natalie Anderson and Danni Boatwright to the Edge of Extinction.
