Doctor Who writer Peter Harness is back in the word of science fiction for Apple TV+ drama Constellation, starring Noomi Rapace. Here’s the trailer.

Screenwriter Peter Harness is perhaps best known as a regular writer on the revived series of Doctor Who, where he was responsible for Kill The Moon, one of the more divisive episodes among the fandom. Now, Harness is back in the world of science fiction for eight part drama Constellation, starring Noomi Rapace.

The synopsis reads as follows:

Constellation stars Noomi Rapace as Jo — an astronaut who returns to Earth after a disaster in space — only to discover that key pieces of her life seem to be missing. The space adventure is an exploration of the dark edges of human psychology, and one woman’s desperate quest to expose the truth about the hidden history of space travel and recover all that she has lost.

British detective drama “Dalgliesh” is set to return after getting a second season order from AMC Networks’ Acorn TV and Channel 5.

The second season, which will consist of six episodes, will be based on three more P.D. James novels with Bertie Carvel (“Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell”) reprising his role as the enigmatic chief investigator. It is currently shooting in Northern Ireland with a scheduled TX on Channel 5 in 2023.

Details on the third season are still to be announced with filming set to begin in 2023.

Season two will be split into three parts – “Death Of An Expert Witness,” “A Certain Justice” and “The Murder Room” – each two episodes long.

Helen Edmundson (“The Suspicions of Mr Whicher”) returns as lead writer while Stewart Harcourt (“Maigret”) joins to write “A Certain Justice,” which Andy Tohill and Ryan Tohill (“The Dig”) will direct. Geoff Sax (“Us”) will direct “Death of an Expert Witness.

Zdf Enterprises and the U.K.-based Parsonage Productions are developing a new drama, “The Bronte Girls,” a fictional account of the last summer which the three Bronte sisters spent together.

The drama is based on the stage play of the same name by New York-based playwright Caroline Franklin (“Last Night at the Carmine”). Franklin will adapt the drama for the small screen with the British writer-director Darcia Martin.

The initial series, structured as a six-part drama, will be executive produced by Harvey Myman, Patty Lenahan Ishimoto and Patrick Irwin, who first worked together on A+E Networks’ U..K. period crime drama, “Miss Scarlet & The Duke.”

The “Dangerous Liaisons” series at Starz has cast Alice Englert and Nicholas Denton in the two lead roles, Variety has learned.

A reimagining on the Pierre Choderlos de Laclos book of the same name, the series tells the origin story of how the Marquise de Merteuil (Englert) and the Vicomte de Valmont (Denton) meet as passionate young lovers in Paris on the eve of revolution. Driven to right the wrongs of their past, we follow the couple as they rise from the slums of Paris and scale the heights of the French aristocracy, seducing and manipulating both the nobility and each other to survive.

Englert recently appeared in shows like “The Serpent” and “Ratched.” She is also known for “Top of the Lake,” “Beautiful Creatures,” and “Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.” Denton, meanwhile, is known for projects such as “Glitch” and “Pillars.”

Alice Englert and her ‘Them That Follow’ co-star Thomas Mann.

Alice Englert’s Hollywood career is rocketing with roles in the Netflix series Ratched, horror movie Them That Follow and the upcoming crime thriller Body Brokers.

The 25-year-old daughter of Jane Campion and Colin Englert, Alice has a recurring role in Ratched, the prequel to Miloš Forman’s Oscar-winning 1975 movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which starred Louise Fletcher and Jack Nicholson.

Set in 1947, the series co-created and produced by Ryan Murphy follows the murderous journey of nurse Mildred Ratched (Sarah Paulson) through the mental health care system.

The cast includes Sharon Stone, Rosanna Arquette, Cynthia Nixon, Finn Wittrock, Judy Davis, Jon Jon Briones, Charlie Carver, Harriet Harris and Amanda Plummer. Englert plays a character named Dolly.
