After striking gold with Vijay’s Mersal, its makers Sri Thenandal Studios are on a high. As they gear up to bankroll Tamil cinema’s biggest project Sangamithra, which will be made on an unimaginable scale, it has also been learnt that they have a film with Dhanush in the offing. The yet-untitled project with the Maryan actor will take off next year and no other information is available as of now.

The 38th Cleveland International Film Festival will screen Amit Kumar’s Monsoon Shootout, Bharatbala’s Maryan and Shubhashish Bhutiyani’s Kush. In addition, Shahzeb Kohari and Mirat Trivedi’s short film Life Calling and Arpita Kumar’s My Dear Americans will also be screened at the festival.

Cleveland International Film Festival will take place from March 19-30, 2014 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

Kush, Life Calling and My Dear Americans will be screened in the Shorts Programme of the festival. Chennai, March 13: Malayalam actress Parvathy Menon, known for her work in films like "Poo" and "Maryan", has been confirmed to feature with Kamal Haasan in upcoming Tamil comedy "Uttama Villain".

"Parvathy has been roped in for an important role. I can't divulge more details about her role, but she will start shooting from March 15 (Friday)," the film's director Ramesh Arvind told Ians.

Besides Parvathy, the film also features Andrea Jeremiah, who has already worked with Haasan in "Vishwaroopam" and yet-to-be-released "Vishwaroopam 2".

"Uttama Villain" is the story of an ageing superstar, played by Haasan,.

When two National Award winning artists, Dhanush and Sarkunam, are associated with a project expectations are bound to be high. But if you watch "Naiyaandi" with such high expectations you're likely to be disappointed.

It is one of those films that top actors claim they need to do to impress their mass following every now and then. Alas, after two back-to-back impressive performances in "Raanjhanaa" and "Maryan", Dhanush makes a fool of himself in this cliched romantic entertainer.

Mumbai, Aug 12: Bollywood filmmakers Imtiaz Ali and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra are impressed actor Dhanush, and said they would love to collaborate with him.

New Delhi, July 31: Singer-actor Dhanush, who is on a roll with the positive response to "Raanjhanaa" and "Maryan", has a new endorsement in his kitty. He is now the face of chewing gum brand Center Fresh.

Dhanush, whose popularity went several notches high thanks to his song "Why this kolaveri di?", will feature in the new TV commercial of the product, which is under confectionary brand Perfetti Van Melle India (Pvmi).

"It feels great to be associated with Center Fresh. Looking forward to work on some exciting campaigns for the brand," Dhanush said in a statement.

Chennai, July 23: Dhanush-starrer Tamil romantic-drama "Maryan", which released July 19, has received an overwhelming response from audiences and an elated Bharatbala says that the love story in his directorial venture kept everyone engrossed.

"The response has been phenomenal. I have been watching the film over the last few days with the audience in many theatres and realised they are enjoying it to the fullest. Audiences were immersed in the love story till the end," Bharatbala told Ians.

"People usually sit back and relax or even take a break during the songs in a film, but it wasn't the same with 'Maryan'. Audiences didn't.

This was the first time that there would have been three releases featuring Dhanush, within two weeks, with two of his Tamil films vying for eyeballs during the same Friday.

Dhanush, a very meticulous career planner, was not pleased. But the release of "Maryan" was postponed at the last minute.

Confirming the development, Dhanush said: "Only the dubbed Tamil version of 'Raanjhanaa'.

Mumbai, June 22: Dhanush has been lauded for his acting acumen, but he refuses to let go of his work as a singer, composer and lyricist. The actor, who has entered Bollywood with "Raanjhanaa", says music is such an important part of his life that he can't perform without it.

The actor has written songs for few Tamil films like "Mayakkam Enna", "3", "Ethir Neechal" and upcoming film "Maryan."

"Music is my life, without music I will just perish, I cannot perform. Whenever I perform, there is some music running in my head and I perform for that music," the 29-year-old said here Friday at the launch of the cover of Star Week magazine.

Chennai, May 4: Tamil filmmaker Bharatbala chose Parvathi Menon for his upcoming romantic-drama "Mariyaan" because he finds her rooted to the landscape of the film - a factor he believes is very important while casting.

Parvathi, a Malayalee actress, is known for her work in Tamil films such as "Chennaiyil Oru Naal" and "Poo".

"I could have easily chosen a north Indian actress, but I believe an actor should be suitable to the landscape against which a film is shot. I chose Parvathi because right from her features to her body language - everything is apt for the setting of the film," Bharatbala told Ians.

Chennai, April 27: Music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja crooned a song, composed by Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman and written by Dhanush, in upcoming Tamil drama "Mariyaan".

"Amazing song by A.R. Rahman. It was sung by Yuvan Shankar Raja and lyrics by Dhanush," posted "Mariyaan" director Bharat Bala on his Twitter page.

Yuvan posted on his Twitter page: "Had an awesome recording session with A.R. Rahman. (I) sang a song for him".

Yuvan, who mostly sings for his own compositions, collaborated with Rahman for the first time. He is known to have sung approximately 100 songs in his little over a decade career.

As a composer, Yuvan is known for Tamil films such as "Nandha", "Thulluvadho Ilammai" and "7G Rainbow Colony".

New Delhi, April 8: The music rights of Dhanush-starrer "Mariyaan", based on a real life story, has been acquired by Sony Music.

Directed by Bharat Bala, "Mariyaan" narrates the story of a site worker, who escapes from treacherous conditions to find freedom. Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman has composed music for the movie.

Ashok Parwani, head south, Sony Music Entertainment, says music will play an important role in "Mariyaan".

"The film today is much talked about and we are confident that the music will play a pivotal role in the film," Parwani said in a statement.
