With submissions ranging from countries like Italy and Nepal to as short as several minutes to feature length films, every aspect of storytelling has been covered within the 2015 Soho International Film Festival . It only seems fitting that the festival wraps up its sixth annual festival with a number of prominent presenters including The Avengers’ Robert Clohessy and Rescue Me’s James McCaffrey. Director Imtiaz Ali is known to appreciate quality cinema and recently got associated with Bauddhayan Mukherji’s Bengali film ‘Teenkahon’. Releasing 11th September in West Bengal, the film impressed the Bollywood director who decided to be its presenter, to ensure a wider reach.
Confirming the news, Imtiaz Ali said, “It’s a fascinating film. I saw Teenkahon at Mami (Mumbai Film Festival). It’s reminiscent of the great films of the ’60s from Bengal. I could relate to the characters from the three different stories, even though I am not like any of them. And the film could transport me to the Bengal of three different eras. I spoke to Bauddhayan (Mukherji, director) about it. And two days later, he asked me whether I would like to present it. I said if I can do anything to take the film to more people, it would be great.”

Slated to release on 11th September, Bengali film ‘Teenkahon’ has been receiving immense support from the Bollywood industry as well, for its intriguing story and promising performances. Bengali feature film Teenkahon (Three Obsessions) won the Best Screenplay award and Special Mention of the Jury for Cinematography at the Bridge Film Fest at Mitrovica, Kosovo. The maiden edition of the festival, in the partially-recognized state of Kosovo in South-eastern Europe, screened ten feature films from across the globe.
Teenkahon marks the directorial debut of advertising filmmaker Bauddhayan Mukherji and is independently produced by his Mumbai-based production company, Little Lamb films.
The film will have its Indian premiere at the Mumbai Film Festival (Mami) on October 16 in “New Faces in Indian cinema” section.
