My partner and I love the 90s and so were really excited to watch a ridiculous Christmas movie about traveling back in time, however, this has NOTHING to do with the 90s. It's almost as if no one in the movie actually lived through them. The clothing was just modern Christmas. The makeup was 2024. There was one 90s song and that was it. If someone didn't explicitly tell you this was 1999, you would never, ever know it. Also, to go from supposedly 44 to 19-years-old all she did was remove her fake glasses (yes, they legitimately had no lenses). I was ready for a trip down memory lane and they absolutely did not deliver.

I don't understand how people don't love this movie. It is tremendously absurd in all the best ways. I was constantly in fits of laughter. It was so great, just like the original. I loved the puns. Every murder was just spectacularly hilarious. I was hooked from the beginning. They ramped up the absurdity hosting it on an island of all places. If you love ridiculous horror movies and hilarious banter, then this movie is for you. The acting, the writing, the special effects, it all blends together to create a truly terrible and awesome movie. You actually recognize the actors in this, too, which just adds to the spectacular nature of the movie.

I don't even understand what was happening here. I loved the first one. It was the perfect blend of trope and absurdity. But this? This was horrible from the beginning. I had no idea what was happening. I wanted to like it, but it just made no sense. I couldn't figure out how to put the random scenes together or make them make sense. It felt like it was trying too hard. And to reuse the same joke from the first one in the very beginning? Just lazy. It also seemed like it was trying to be a musical? I don't know. I wanted so much to like it, but it jumped the shark almost immediately. I turned it off after 20 minutes. I'm so disappointed.
