Recipient of the inaugural Humanitarian Award in 2001, presented by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, for his philanthropy and advocacy.

Recipient of The Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal, in 2002, in honor of the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, in recognition of his contribution to the arts and his philanthropy.

Recipient of The Margaret Collier Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Canadian Screen Awards, presented by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, in honor of his body of work in television.

Honored by Hollywood's LGBTQ foundation POWER UP as one of 2011's "Amazing Men in Showbiz".
