Me siguen llamando Bruce

5/10

"Sex is very sacred to me, because I always have to pray for it"

This is no better or worse than the original. It has some clever lines and witticisms from Johnny Yune, and even when we're NOT laughing, the film gets by with it because of its good-naturedness. But, like the original, it wastes too much time on stupid subplots and fight scenes with secondary characters. And near the finale it makes some serious missteps, including a kickboxing match that's supposed to be a spoof the "Rocky" showdowns but just isn't funny at all, and goes on much longer than it should, too. disappointing sequel

this sequel to They call me Bruce was nowhere near as good as the original film.i don't think i laughed once during this movie.plus, there's less action.in fact, the movie bordered on tedium for me at times.the acting wasn't as good here either.there's a bit of a romance angle thrown in which wasn't really necessary in my opinion.generally, the movie just wasn't very entertaining, but that's just my opinion.i know i won't be watching this movie again anytime soon.you could do a lot more constructive things with your time than watch this movie.but if you do decide to watch it,you're better off catching it on cable or a really cheap rental.for me,They Still Call Me Bruce is a disappointing 4/10

I Played "Slim" in this film!!

Greetings friends! This was a fun film to work on. Johnny was a hoot and a very open and approachable person. Some inside stuff, if you like: The producers ran out of money about two weeks before the film was wrapped and had to go to Korea to get some more backing. Fortunately they got it and you now can see their efforts paid off.

However, the paychecks were a little late in coming and the cast and crew laughingly called the film: "They Still OWE me Bruce". It actually took another two years to get our final checks, but get them...and cash them...we did. Got me my first Rolex! It ran all over cable in the late '80s and early '90s. It's audience was mostly youngsters, but plenty of adults have enjoyed groaning at the puns over the years, too.

I figure the offspring of those early viewers will be getting to the age where they can enjoy this flick and it might become a re-born cult phenomenon.

By the way, the acupuncture scene was done with a huge "belly" prosthesis. Looks amazingly real, doesn't it?

I met a woman from Korea the other day and told her I was in it and she said she knew I looked familiar and that it's a famous movie there! Hey, I'm a star in Soeul! Hope you enjoy it!

Pure 80's Cheese

And I luv every last minute of it

I saw this movie as a youngen about a million times on cable in the 80's

Through the 90's I had about 10 years to totally forget about this movie that I had liked so much

Well when I re-discovered this film in 2001 I had to get my hands on it ASAP again to see if it would stand the test of time

Guess What?It did and then some

I like this movie now more then ever(one of my top 5)

It never takes itself seriously and never really drags as the story is constantly moving

the entire movie is based around Bruce(Johnny Yune) trying to find Private Brown who saved his life during the Korean war

Throughout the movie Bruce is constantly side tracked from his pursuit of Private Brown

The ending is pretty good to as it makes you think it's going to end on a 50% down note as Bruce wins the tournament which is the plus but Private Brown the man he's been looking for turns out to be the evil crime lord...or does he ;)

Overall I don't think anyone today would enjoy this movie

But fans of feel-good cheesey 80's movies should appreciate this.

About Johnny...

After making few films in the US...Johnny went back to South Korea and got a spot as a host on his, "the Johnny Yune Show" for couple of years (1989, KBS). Like Johnny Carson and David Letterman, he became one of the greatest late night hosts in Korea. His resume from the states proved he was an excellent comedian and a great host for a late night show. After few years, he did various shows but they weren't that successful, but the last thing I know is that he started hosting another show called "the Johnny Yune Night Show" on i-TV in Korea (2003). That's pretty much all I know, but I think he is a great host and a comedian. I wish he still stayed in the states and did more movies and maybe get a spot on the late night shows? I know Johnny Carson was great, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien (he is my favorite) and Jimmy Kimmel are doing very well right now. However, I wish Johnny Yune stayed in the states little bit longer because most Korean people know who he is but people in North America, in this generation doesn't know much about him...
