I've met director Alexandru Tatos while filming this movie. I had just left the French Institute on Dacia Boulevard, where I had seen a French film. Tatos was shooting a scene with Dan Nutu right on the perpendicular street, Polona. It was late in the evening. I was 19 years old and I was going to take soon my first exam at the IATC Film Institute. I've told Tatos about my intentions and my infinite love for film. He immediately offered me to be an Extra, and the next day I filmed in two different scenes, Passer-by in two different locations and Guy at the table, on a terrace next to the Piata Palatului, just outside the block where I lived in Bucharest. Alexandru Tatos was an exceptionally Romanian film director. In full communism he knew how to make some special films out of the ordinary, not like many others in those times. Unfortunately, he died very young, of cancer. I regret his premature disappearance, we could have become good friends and maybe I would have played later, as an actor, in other of his films. This "Ratacire"(Wandering) (Work Title: Drum cu intoarcere - Returning Road), although it clearly has a message like, "Do not leave Romania, it will take your longing for the country there in the West...", it is very well done, direction, cinematography, the actors' play, everything very good. In particular, Gina Patrichi,in a small role, makes an out of the ordinary performance. Gina Patrichi, disappeared also very young, was a great actress of Romanian theater and cinema, a street in Bucharest is named after her, and the fact is that I had as neighbors in the block where I lived, the brother and the niece of the actress.
