Apple TV+ will imminently be premiering Goldie, an all-new animated series for kids and families. Ahead of the show's launch on streaming, Cbr can unveil an exclusive sneak peek featuring the voice of the world's most beloved parodist.
Goldie is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Valentine's Day, which is Feb. 14. Inspired by Emily Brundige's award-winning short film released in 2019, the series is described by the streamer as a "larger-than-life celebration of uniqueness and embracing your true self." Embracing classic 2D animation, Goldie tells the story of a giant young girl named Goldie, following her on her adventures in the town of Boysenberg. In Cbr's sneak peek of the show, guest star "Weird Al" Yankovic voices a robot chef with the ability to generate desired foods on command — even if it's not exactly what was asked for. In 2011, French thesps Omar Sy and Anne Le Ny co-starred in the comedy hit “Untouchable.” Now, the two are reunited in the domestic thriller “Out of Control,” with “Lupin” star Sy in one of the leading roles next to Elodie Bouchez, José Garcia and Vanessa Paradis, while Le Ny serves as director and Axella Cachman’s co-writer.
“There was a real bond and warmth between us then, which was easy to revive 13 years later,” says Le Ny, who shared the screen time with Matt Damon in “Stillwater” and earned her first writing/helming kudos for her breakthrough movie “Those Who Remain” (2008).

How many stories of Amanda Knox do we really need? At least one more, according to Hulu, whose new eight-part series Blue Moon has begun filming in Italy, sparking backlash from the residents of Perugia, where Meredith Kercher was found murdered back in 2007. A 20-year-old Knox and her then-lover, Raffaele Sollecito, were convicted of killing Knox's roommate 17 years ago, and subsequently spent four years in an Italian prison before their release in 2011 due to shoddy police work. She was later acquitted by the Italian Supreme Court in 2015, and has since gone on to become an author and activist.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, residents of Perugia have shown up in full force to the production, displaying banners that read "Rispetto per Meredith," which translates to "Respect for Meredith." The dramatization stars Grace Van Patten (Tell Me Lies), and will air on Hulu next year, with Knox now 37 on board as an executive producer.

Matt Damon's return as Jason Bourne in 2016's reboot marked the last time he portrayed the iconic character in the celebrated franchise. Damon's interest in reprising his role for Bourne 6 has yet to be confirmed, leaving fans eagerly awaiting any updates on his potential return. While Green Zone failed to reach the success of the Bourne films, Damon and director Greengrass have shown resilience with the Jason Bourne reboot.
Matt Damon's first Jason Bourne replacement was an overlooked box office failure. Damon has been the face of the Bourne franchise ever since the first film The Bourne Identity was made back in 2002. Interestingly, he made that film with director Doug Liman, who he recently reconnected with after 22 years on Apple's upcoming heist comedy The Instigators, which Damon stars in alongside Good Will Hunting alum and Oscar winner Casey Affleck. Cameron Crowe is responsible for some of the most memorable moments in cinema these past 40 years or so. Phoebe Cates and Judge Reinhold at the pool in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Jerry Maguire and Rod Tidwell screaming “Show Me the Money.” Lloyd Dobler blasting Peter Gabriel in Say Anything. But before he won an Oscar or became friends with Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg, Crowe lived an entirely different life as a precocious rock-and-roll journalist for Rolling Stone magazine. Barely ready for life outside of his house, the young writer abruptly found himself hanging out with rock gods and sexy groupies – he was privy to more hedonism than most of us can only dream of before he turned 18. Naturally, that sounds like fodder for a compelling movie, and while he plotted a film based on his younger years for quite a long time, Crowe didn’t get to realize it until Almost Famous,...

Almost Famous mirrors the teenage journalism adventures of writer-director Cameron Crowe, adding a personal touch to the coming-of-age story. Stillwater in the movie is a blend of real 70s bands like Led Zeppelin, with the fictional band creating an iconic era feel. Penny Lane's character draws inspiration from real-life groupies, showcasing a complex and enigmatic presence in Almost Famous.
Almost Famous's true story draws from elements of the movie's look at this influential moment in music as well as its story of young discovery. Set amid touring rock bands of the 1970s, the movie deals with an aspiring music journalist who gets a chance to embark on a life-changing trip with the band Stillwater. As he makes new acquaintances and goes through teenage angst, the music-themed comedy-drama doubles as a quintessential coming-of-age story. William’s observations are centered not just on the reckless and eccentric musicians but also on the band members’ love interests,...

French director Thomas Bidegain is setting the record straight about Jake Gyllenhaal and Vanessa Kirby’s exit from his project “Suddenly.”
An interview with Bidegain that ran last week in the French magazine Technikart got international attention, with the headline “Four Days to Bury a Movie.” The interview suggested that Gyllenhaal and Kirby had left the film in the last stretch of pre-production in Iceland, which resulted in a loss of $26 million.
According to the story, Gyllenhaal dove into the freezing ocean, demanded multiple rewrites and rehearsed scenes in a mocking “Pepe Le Pew-like accent.” Though Bidegain wouldn’t address those specific claims, he tells Variety that he parted ways with Gyllenhaal and Kirby over a creative clash, rather than unprofessional behavior on Gyllenhaal’s part. He also claims that, contrary to what is suggested in the French article, the company which financed “Suddenly,” Studiocanal, didn’t lose $26 million because...

Stillwater, a previously overlooked movie, gains immense popularity on Netflix with 12.7 million hours of viewing and 5.5 million views. Stillwater is believed to be based on the real-life story of Amanda Knox, who criticized the film for profiting off her case without her consent. The movie's success on Netflix may generate more interest in the Amanda Knox case and the truth behind it.
Stillwater, one of Matt Damon's overlooked movies from 2021, has become a hit on Netflix. From Tom McCarthy, the director of Spotlight, Stillwater was released in theaters in July 2021 when the box office was still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, R-rated drama geared towards adults was overlooked and underwhelmed at the box office. Stillwater grossed just $19 million and failed to make back its $20 million budget despite receiving mostly positive reviews from critics.
Now, over two years after its theatrical release, the Matt Damon movie has become a hit on Netflix.

Stillwater takes significant liberties with the true story of Amanda Knox, changing key details including the location and the characters involved. Amanda Knox has criticized the film for misrepresenting her innocence and profiting from her story. Knox received financial compensation from the European Court of Human Rights for her wrongful conviction and imprisonment.
Directed and co-written by Tom McCarthy, Stillwater is an American crime drama released to positive reviews in July 2021. Loosely based on the true story of Amanda Knox, the story follows Bill Baker (Matt Damon), a blue-collar father from Stillwater, Oklahoma, who ventures to France to visit his daughter Allison Baker (Abigail Breslin) and help her get out of legal jeopardy. When Bill reunites with Allison, she is five years into a nine-year prison sentence for murdering her roommate and former lover, Lina. Film Movement Scoops Up North American Rights for Bittersweet Comedy ‘A Nice Jewish Boy’ (Exclusive)
Film Movement will give “A Nice Jewish Boy” a home – several, in fact, as the New York-based distributor has picked up North American rights to Noé Debré’s bittersweet comedy with plans for both festival and theatrical plays later this year.
Charades’ Hélène Espeisse brokered the deal with Film Movement president Michael Rosenberg.
Written and directed by “Dheepan” and “Stillwater” screenwriter Noé Debré, “A Nice Jewish Boy” follows Bellisha – an unflappable 27-year-old naïf who shares a subsidized apartment with his ailing mother, Giselle. The pair also happen to be their working-class community’s last remaining Jews – a source of heartache, comedy, and wider questions of belonging.
The freewheeling film drew inspiration from the works of Francois Truffaut and Charlie Chaplin, Debré told Variety, engaging in equal parts with poignant and absurdist subject matters while following a daydreaming lead who can’t be knocked down.

Noé Debré, the co-writer of “Dheepan” and “Stillwater” and creator of the European Parliament sendup series “Parlement,” marks his feature directorial debut with the bittersweet comedy “A Nice Jewish Boy.”
Produced by Moonshaker, sold by Charades and making its world market premiere at this year’s Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris, the freewheeling film follows a 27-year-old man-child Bellisha (Michael Zindel) and his ailing mother, Giselle (Agnès Jaoui), who together make up the last remaining Jews living in a working class neighborhood that all of their friends and family have long since fled.
At first that’s just as well for the easy-going Bellisha, but health concerns, prejudice and most of all an acute sense of alienation soon begin to creep in. Below, Variety catches up with Debré at this year’s Rendez-Vous.
How did this feature idea come about?
I saw a short film called “Masel Tov Cocktail,” about a Russian-Jewish teenager living in Germany.

There’ll be some happy holidays on Prime Video in December, as the streamer’s seasonal offerings hope to keep the fires warm in your home this month!
As such, there are quite a few new original holiday movies coming to the service. At the beginning of the month, Eddie Murphy stars in Candy Cane Lane. In this film, the Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America star plays a determined man who is willing to go above and beyond to win the annual Christmas home decoration contest in his neighborhood – even if it means making a very magical deal.
The DC universe will also be getting festive in December thanks to Merry Little Batman, an animated feature that sees Batman’s son, Damian Wayne, stumble upon a villainous plot on Christmas eve, one that may give him a chance to save the day when his dad isn’t around.

Despite the failure of "Downsizing," Matt Damon bounced back with five critically acclaimed films, including "Ford v Ferrari" and "Oppenheimer." "Downsizing" received negative reviews due to its subpar execution of an intriguing concept. The film's box office failure can be attributed to its focus on real-world dangers that may not appeal to all audiences.
Matt Damon has undoubtedly had a successful acting career, with numerous box office hits and prestigious awards to his name, but he has also appeared in a handful of movies that are considered failures, like Downsizing. The 2017 science fiction comedy-drama film starred Damon as Paul Safranek, a man who agrees to participate in an experimental downsizing program. To combat global warming, overpopulation, and other factors that threaten the human race, scientists come up with the idea of downsizing, which entails shrinking humans to live in smaller, less wasteful communities. Unfortunately, the premise wasn't enough to draw people to the theaters,...

The recent revelations concerning the real life story behind The Blind Side are another in a long history of the exploitative nature inherent to the "based on a true story" genre. This is seemingly a never-ending problem. The Blind Side is both a film that is extremely trite, and as we now know, furthers a story that simply was not true. Stillwater, a film that is essentially the movie adaptation of the Amanda Knox case, was blasted by Knox herself. The issue is very clear here. To take someone's real life story, and blow it up to the big screen is a very tricky rope to walk. Ideally, you would think putting someone's life on the big screen would be for a good intention, whether that is education, inspiration, or because they're a downright fascinating person. Through watching "real life" on the big screen, we learn about something greater than a single story.

Where to Watch Powered by Oppenheimer's success breaks Matt Damon's streak of box office flops, showing that well-made original stories can still be profitable. Damon's supporting role in Oppenheimer amplifies Cillian Murphy's portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer, solidifying their characters' relationship. Damon's past film flops aren't his fault, as he delivers strong performances, but industry changes and streaming have made it harder for non-franchise films to succeed.
The success of Oppenheimer is great news for Matt Damon, as it's broken his streak of box office bombs. The 52-year-old actor is one of the most beloved in Hollywood, but non franchise movies have generally struggled at the box office in recent years. The success of Oppenheimer is great news for Matt Damon, as it's broken his streak of box office bombs. The 52-year-old actor is one of the most beloved in Hollywood, but non franchise movies have generally struggled at the box office in recent years. Sometimes, the people who make the biggest difference aren’t the ones who grab the spotlight. In “Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie,” we get to see firsthand how our lovable introvert, Marcie, makes a monumental difference from behind the scenes for both her friends and her community. To train for the school golf championship, Marcie assists Peppermint Patty as her caddie, offering thoughtful and deliberate advice to help her win. Meanwhile, after coming up with brilliant solutions to her classmates’ problems – from hallway traffic jams to lunchtime pizza shortages – Marcie is unexpectedly elected as class president … a role she never wanted.
Suddenly thrust into the spotlight, Marcie struggles to cope with the expectations of her new job and retreats as far from the public eye as possible. As the golf championship begins, Marcie is still in hiding and Peppermint Patty is forced to tee off with Charlie Brown filling in as her caddie.

Three is a crowd, and Matt Damon prefers it that way. At the July 11 "Oppenheimer" world premiere in Paris, the 52-year-old actor arrived on the red carpet with three of his four daughters. He smiled alongside 12-year-old Stella, 14-year-old Gia, and 24-year-old Alexia. His 17-year-old daughter, Isabella, who Damon also shares with wife Luciana Damon, was the only child not in attendance at the premiere.
Since Damon's daughters tend to stay out of the spotlight, this family outing marks a somewhat rare joint red carpet appearance. Back in March, however, some of the girls did accompany Damon to the "Air" premiere. But as Damon told Seth Meyers on "Late Night" back in April, they still find plenty of ways to keep him humble. "My 16-year-old likes to give me a hard time. She is very clear about not wanting to see anything that I'm in if she thinks it might be good,...
