An official at Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital in Mumbai told the Hindustan Times that the actor died of a heart attack.

A native of Mumbai, Shukla first rose to fame in the 2008 Indian TV series “Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na.” But he broke out in a bigger way in the Indian soap opera “Balika Vadhu,” which earned him recognition from the Indian Television Academy Awards.

Opening across North America at the beginning of Holi weekend in India, a release from Dharma Productions—whose films are almost notorious at this point for their vibrant set pieces, high-voltage entertainment value, and penchant for glitzy romance— seems as apt a way as any to kick off a festival centered on celebration, colors, and love. Fortunately, while “Badrinath Ki Dulhania” leaves plenty of room for eye candy, it also isn’t all style without substance.

In 2014, we saw the release of the Varun Dhawan - Alia Bhatt starrer Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Now two years on, the makers of the film have commenced work on the sequel to the film. Titled Badrinath Ki Dulhania, the film which went on floor today once again features Varun and Alia headlining the cast.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is said to be a fresh story set against a rural backdrop up North that will feature both Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in completely new avatars. While the script for the film was developed and locked long back, the lead actors of the film commenced workshops for the same about a month ago. Though the first shoot schedule of the film is in Mumbai, the crew will later apparently move to Kota and Jhansi for the following schedules.
