With Cobra Kai having reached its conclusion with the end of Season 6, fans of The Karate Kid franchise have rejoiced in the way that the show handled its grand finale after seven years of karate-based drama. Many were shocked and even disappointed, however, to see that the final season failed to deliver on certain things. Not only did Hilary Swank fail to reprise her role as Julie Pierce from The Next Karate Kid, but in a clever subversion of expectations, the show also failed to live up to a teased subplot that was teased back in Season 5. At the end of the season, Chozen admitted that he had romantic feelings for Kumiko but had been too scared to act on them for several years.

Like the previous journey with Jin Sakai, our first glimpse of the open-world experience was stunning when it was first revealed as the major closing announcement in the PlayStation State of Play September 2024 showcase. Despite all this hype, the game faced heavy backlash as it will be featuring a female protagonist. But true fans don’t seem to be much bothered about it as something else is even more important.

Ghost of Yotei was recently revealed during the latest PlayStation State of Play, and the gaming community has mixed feelings about the idea of playing as a female samurai in the highly-anticipated sequel. Jin Sakai has been the leading man of the Ghost franchise; however, the game developers of Sucker Punch Productions saw the opportunity to go beyond the conflicts on the island of Tsushima and expand the franchise even further with a new protagonist in Atsu.
The gaming community is not fully on board about playing as a female samurai which is silly nowadays. Image Credit: Sucker Punch Productions
The official announcement trailer revealed that this game will be taking place roughly 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima and it is more than guaranteed that Jin is no longer in the picture. The developers saw the opportunity for the Ghost moniker to be a mantle that can...

Video games such as The Walking Dead and Red Dead Redemption 2 are meant to be fun, and for the most part, they are. However, every once in a while, developers yank at our heartstrings and give gamers a devastating ending.
Just like any form of entertainment, video games depend on their ending. No matter the medium, a good closure to a story gives a sense of unity, with narrative elements coming together for a proper closure. However, not all game endings are about hope. Some of the most legendary titles in gaming history end with heartbreak and sorrow.
Undoubtedly, these titles leave gamers depressed or hollow, but they also offer a chance to dive into difficult topics and engage in life-questioning conversations. From The Walking Dead to Red Dead Redemption 2, here are five games that left us emotional, distraught, and possibly in tears.
5. The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 1 ends with a heartbreaking moment.

The television adaptation of Pachinko by Min Jin Lee returns with a second season of the family saga on August 23 on Apple TV+.
Unlike Lee’s book, the show mixes the timelines of Book 1 and Book 3 with Minha Kim portraying a young Sunja and Youn Yuh-jung playing the older version. Season 2 picks up with older versions of Sunja’s two sons Noa and Mozasu and the start of World War II.
Those in need of a refresher on what happened in Season 1 of Pachinko can read on for a recap.
A Family Will Endure
The show opens with Sunja’s mother (Inji Jeong), who visits a Korean shaman woman to reverse a curse she believes has fallen on her and her husband Hoonie (Lee Dae-ho). Her husband has a cleft-lip deformity, which was seen as negative in society in Korea. This story takes place five years after Japan annexed Korea...

‘The Marvels’ was released about nine months ago and now feels like a distant memory to MCU fans. The movie was both a commercial and critical failure, losing a significant amount of money for the studio. Despite its lack of impact on the larger MCU storyline, it initiated some major changes within the studio.
In response to the film’s poor reception, the MCU announced a shift in focus from quantity to quality, significantly reducing its future output. There are also insider rumors that the movie’s failure led to the cancellation of plans for ‘Captain Marvel 3’ and Monica Rambeau’s standalone TV series, although these remain unconfirmed.
The movie appears to have had significant repercussions in the world of comics as well, particularly affecting the ‘Captain Marvel’ series intended as a tie-in with the film.

‘The Marvels’ was released around 9 months ago, and at this point, it seems like a distant memory to the fans of the MCU. The movie was both a commercial and critical failure, losing an eye-watering sum of money for the studio, and despite being largely irrelevant in the large scheme of things it kickstarted some major changes within the studio.
Following the catastrophic reception, we learned that the MCU will focus on quality rather than quantity with significantly reduced output going forward. There are also insider talks that the movie’s failure resulted in the cancellation of plans for ‘Captain Marvel 3’ and Monica Rambeau’s standalone TV series – but as I’ve mentioned those are only rumors.
It seems that the movie has had far-reaching consequences for the world of comics as well, in particular related to the ‘Captain Marvel’ series that was supposed to serve as a tie-in with the movie.

Last year, Marvel Comics launched a new Captain Marvel series right in time for The Marvels' arrival in theaters. As is so often the case, the comic featured several similarities to the movie, including Carol Danvers' new costume and the inclusion of Nega-Bands and body-swapping.
The Marvels earned so-so reviews with 62% on Rotten Tomatoes but flopped at the box office with a dismal $206 million worldwide. No one has managed to figure out how or why it flopped so spectacularly, especially as it also featured popular Disney+ characters Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau.
Regardless, Marvel Comics has just pulled the plug on Captain Marvel after only 10 issues.
In the letters page of Captain Marvel #10, editor Sarah Brunstad writes, "Ah, dear friends. Here we part, for a short time. Captain Marvel stories will continue in the gangbuster Avengers series and elsewhere."
"But her solo series needs a hiatus while we build the next great story.

When it comes to medieval fantasy, anime fans point to properties like Vinland Saga as intriguing stories. Rightfully so. Conversely, there are classic properties from years ago, such as Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. These franchises are filled with war and politics, which play for a Western audience, who love the likes of House of the Dragon.
One movie set in this vein is none other than 2022's The Deer King. This narrative focused on Van, a warrior who struggled with grief and trauma from his past. He was very much like Maximus from Ridley Scott's Gladiator as he tried to move on after losing his family, only to end up a slave. However, Van's journey quickly gave him a higher calling that not even he could have predicted.

Episode 9 of Miss Night and Day is like a stop on a ride that we didn’t necessarily need. It’s not that it doesn’t progress the story at all; it does, but a lot of what happens in the episode could’ve been covered in half an episode with more revelations by the end. I suppose that’s what happens when K-dramas have 16 episodes now. Miss Night and Day is certainly shaping up to be one of my favorite shows of the year, but it all depends on how the mystery unfolds going forward and how the fantasy elements play out. Episode 9 of Miss Night and Day begins with the much-awaited kiss between Mi-Jin and Ji-Ung. See, we thought, just like in any other K-drama, the two leads would end up kissing in episode 8 of the series; however, Ji-Ung blocked the kiss with his hand (how could he?...
