Netflix’s Spanish-language musical Emilia Pérez has become one of a only a handful of predominantly non-English-language films ever to make the top 10 films list released by the American Film Institute annually since 2001 as part of the AFI Awards. It follows 2004’s Spanish-language Maria Full of Grace and 2007’s French-language The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.
AFI’s eligibility rules declare, “Stories need not be presented in the English language if incontrovertibly American,” meaning that they include “significant creative and/or production elements from the United States,” which, in this case, presumably means American-born actresses Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez.
Partially non-English titles that have made the list in years past include 2006’s Letters from Iwo Jima, 2019’s The Farewell, 2020’s Minari and 2023’s Past Lives. Fully non-English titles have occasionally been given special awards, as was the case for 2011’s The Artist, 2018’s Roma and 2019’s Parasite.

Across social media platforms, Real Housewives Of Atlanta fans are closely watching and discussing a mysterious rumor, one which claims a project possibly titled Real Housewives Of Atlanta: Ex Wives Club is potentially in the works.
In fact, the Rhoa: Ex Wives Club rumor is so well-entrenched it has already spawned rumors related to it about purported conflicts among putative cast members.
It's no secret that the Real Housewives franchise is in a bit of a strange place right now — perhaps even to the point where the reality TV mainstay is stagnating.
Even putting aside the lawsuit filed by former Real Housewives Of New York star Leah McSweeney or Andy Cohen's admission that his fear of being canceled over unspecified transgressions keeps him up at night, Bravo has struggled with audience engagement and interest.

With 1923 coming back for a second season, it's very possible that Spencer Dutton's death could be a storyline, and actor Brandon Skenlar has some insight into how it could happen. Set in the universe created by Taylor Sheridan, 1923 is the second Yellowstone prequel spinoff, and depicts the trials and tribulations of the Dutton family in the titular year. At the center of it all are Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren), who maintain their family homestead in Prohibition-era Montana as the Great Depression looms large.
Jacob and Cara have no children, but raised their orphaned nephews, John Sr. (James Badge Dale) and Spencer (Brandon Skenlar) as their own. While John Sr. dies a tragic death in 1923 season 1, Spencer is living abroad, working as a big-game hunter in Africa. Most of Spencer's storyline is about his romance with Alexandra (Julia Schalepfer), a high-society British woman he meets on his travels.

Hours after multiple staffers expressed concern that Vice Media was considering shuttering or gutting its flagship news website following the brand’s sale to a consortium of its former bankruptcy lenders, the CEO of the company weighed in with a memo (below) detailing sweeping change.

Earlier in the day, editors from different parts of Vice met with their staffs and informed them that they have asked management for clarity on the situation but haven’t received a reply. A TV series made entirely by generative AI is only three-to-five years away, according to the director of hits including Slow Horses and Anthony Hopkins movie One Life.
James Hawes spoke with legal teams at SAG-AFTRA and the WGA and undertook a poll with fellow directors and VFX workers after the BBC canceled long-running drama Doctors, in which he probed the likelihood of a fully AI series, he revealed today.
“The best guess was three to five years,” he told the British Film & High-End TV Inquiry. “Someone will say, ‘Create a scene in an ER room where a doctor comes in and he’s having an affair with a woman and they’re flirting, and someone is dying on the table,’ and [AI] will start to create it. Maybe it won’t be as polished as we are used to but that is how close we are getting.”

Match #1: Last Chance Iron Survivor Qualifier Fatal 4-Way Match – Fallon Henley def. Thea Hail, Roxanne Perez and Kiana James The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
With just one spot at Nxt Deadline left, Fallon Henley rose to the occasion and punched her ticket to the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge by capitalizing on the intense rivalry between Roxanne Perez and Kiana James. James and Perez battered each other and fully utilized the No Disqualification rules of a Fatal 4-Way, culminating in the two of them crashing through the announce table. Launching in the first year of the pandemic in 2020, Taiwan Creative Content Fest (Tccf) has taken a few years to secure its positioning in the global film markets calendar, but this year’s edition is on track to be its biggest and most international yet.
The event, which runs November 7-12 at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei, is divided into three sections – Pitching, which has opened to international projects for the first time (see separate story for more details); Market, which has been extended from three to four days and has around 100 companies attending; and Innovation, which explores the intersection between content and technology.
Taiwan’s content industries suffered less than some of their neighbours during the pandemic, as being an island, the borders could be quickly closed, limiting the spread of Covid-19. For most of the past three years, shooting on film and TV projects has continued and cinemas remained open.

SAG-AFTRA kicked off its National Convention 2023 this week under the banner “Future Forward Union Power,” and they closed up shop pretty quickly in the same vein.
Just over after the gathering began, SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher hit the pause button as it was announced Saturday afternoon that shuttered negotiations with the studios and streamers would re-start on Oct. 24. “While it’s disappointing to have to adjourn the convention early, the Negotiating Committee must immediately get back to the hard work of preparing to secure a fair contract,” Drescher said.
Initially set to run from Oct. 20 – 24, the 2023 convention will start up again once new dates are decided upon by the Guild’s National Board. SAG-AFTRA has been on strike 100 days as of today, with the first set of renewed talks running from Oct. 2 – 11 before the AMPTP walked away and “suspended” deliberations.

As Vice Media, the brash company that once had ambitions of replacing legacy news giants, files for bankruptcy protection, with $834 million in debt obligations, its finances are coming into focus.
While its largest creditors include Fortress Investment Group (with a $474.6 million claim), there’s several media companies that are listed as top unsecured creditors that aren’t insiders, as outlined in its filing in the United States Bankruptcy Court for Southern District of New York on Monday. The filing estimates there are more than 5,000 creditors. Given that Vice lists $350 million in assets, many creditors are likely to take a loss during Chapter 11 proceedings.
Among them, CNN Productions is listed as having a $3,798,333 claim, HBO is listed as having a claim of $1,763,157 while A&e Networks is listed as having a claim of $937,500, per the filing. Tech firm Wipro, Amazon Web Services, ad agency Horizon Media, Greek media giant Antenna TV...

Almost no one can put away drinks like the debaucherous gang from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," but legendary baseball player Wade Boggs would give them a run for their money. In the season 10 premiere, the dive bar owners hop on a cross-country flight to tackle Boggs' record of 70 beers in transit. The actual number is disputed — Boggs himself claims it's even higher than legend would have us believe — but the episode's premise remains hilarious.
"[Boggs] was famous for baseball, he was also famous for the amount of beer he could drink," series co-creator and star Charlie Day explained to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show when the episode first aired. "Supposedly, when they would have these cross-country flights, he would drink on average 40 to 50, some say 70 beers.
