British crime drama Manhunt, starring Doc Martin’s Martin Clunes, has become ITV’s highest rated new drama since the launch of Broadchurch in 2013. Is it this year’s Bodyguard?
The drama, which is produced by Buffalo Pictures and written by Ed Whitmore (Silent Witness), averaged 8.7M viewers across its three episodes, according to ITV, rising to 9M when online viewing was included. Growing from an overnight average of 6M, the catch up figures mean the show has become the most watched program of 2019 so far.
To put that into context, Bodyguard, the smash hit of 2018, opened with 6.7M live viewers with the first episode adding over 3M viewers to 10.4M after on-demand and catch-up viewers were added, making it the biggest new drama launch in the UK in ten years.

Artsploitation has announced the North American release of the shocking Chilean horror film Trauma. The third feature from director Lucio A. Rojas, Trauma has screened at Horror Hound Film Festival, the Vancouver Badass Film Festival de Canada, Morbido Film Fest and the Optical Theatre Festival in Italy, where Rojas took home the award for Best Film.
Trauma is a shocking, brutal tale that blends the dark history of Chile’s recent repressive dictatorial past with the seemingly modern and progressive Chile of today. The two worlds clash when a group of women venture to the idyllic countryside for a weekend of fun. But their outing soon turns nightmarish when a victim of government torture stumbles upon them, unleashing his pent-up rage. Christopher Robin and Killing Eve star Ken Nwosu is to front a three-part drama written by Doctor Foster creator Mike Bartlett for ITV.
The British broadcaster has ordered The Man, to be directed by Julia Ford, who recently worked on Netflix’s Michael C Hall-fronted thriller Safe. Produced by ITV Studios’ Tall Story Pictures, the production company that recently produced Barlett’s Adrian Lester and John Simm-fronted Trauma.

Reliant on bonuses and winning pitches, Benson often finds himself leading the team when trying to win new business. When he freezes during a pitch the fall out is monumental. Determined to win back a big client, Thomas goes to increasingly desperate lengths to remain successful. But as he does, he begins to feel undermined,...

“Cyberpunk 2077” is a first-person shooter with heavy RPG elements. Let’s get that out of the way first. When CD Projekt Red revealed its follow-up to “The Witcher 3” with a January 2013 teaser trailer, fans didn’t know quite what to expect.
Nearly an hour of gameplay shown off at E3 brings the grimy, dystopian future in focus. “Cyberpunk 2077” is based off Mike Pondsmith’s 1988 pen-and-paper RPG “Cyberpunk 2020.” In CD Projekt’s take on a future filled with extreme technological body modification, you’ll play a street merc named “V.”
It’s impossible to avoid comparisons to Square Enix’s recent “Deus Ex” games and Starbreeze’s 2012 “Syndicate.” However, with full customization at your fingertips, “Cyberpunk 2077” is set up to reflect more of the player than those games. At the outset you’ll choose to play as a man or woman, define your life path, and customize everything about your look.

NBC has given out the first series order from its pilot crop for the 2018-2019 season.
The medical drama “New Amsterdam” has been ordered at the broadcaster. Inspired by Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in America, the series follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold), the institution’s newest medical director who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care. Dr. Goodwin must disrupt the status quo and prove he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital — the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers and the President of the United States under one roof — and return it to the glory that put it on the map.
In addition to Eggold, the cast of the series also includes Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher and Tyler Labine. David Schulner...

When Showtime announced their lineup for their Masters of Horror anthology series back in 2005, one thing became clear pretty quickly: the show was going to focus almost entirely on American masters of horror. With the exception of Takashi Miike’s “Imprint” in season 1 and Norio Tsuruta’s “Dream Cruise” in season 2, the only episodes directed by a non-American are the ones directed by the great Dario Argento, the Crown Prince of Italian horror. And for those of you keeping score of these Italian horror designations, Mario Bava is the Godfather, Lucio Fulci the Maestro, Bruno Mattei the Fool. Everyone has their role to play.
Season 1, Episode 4: “Jenifer”
Director: Dario Argento
Original Air Date: November 18th, 2005
Argento’s first Masters of Horror offering, called simply “Jenifer,” is another highlight of the series and arguably the best thing the director has made since Trauma in 1993. Based on a 1973 comic book short story by Bruce Jones,...

It has just been announced that Artsploitation Films has acquired U.S. rights to Lucio A. Rojas' Trauma. The deal was signed at the European Film Market. Trauma is inspired by the brutal political regime of Augusto Pinochet - a Chilean dictator. This horrifying title had its World Premiere in Mexico City at the Morbido Film Festival (2017). It is now slated for home entertainment formats in early May. A preview of the film's U.S. launch is hosted here. The brutal story begins with a group of women. They head out to a remote ranch, for peace and relaxation. Here, they are attacked and tortured by a group of men, who have already been tortured by Pinochet's regime. Chile's dark past and progressive present clash within Rojas' Trauma. Trauma was shot in Chile and is a Spanish language film. The film's U.S. release date has been announced as May 1st.

A single word: unsuccessful. That’s the final bullet point in surgeon Jon Allerton’s presentation on his treatment of a 15-year-old male stab victim. For the treatment to be under discussion at a Morbidity & Mortality meeting, the outcome would necessarily have been such, but the detachment of that word feels inadequate, almost callous. An ‘unsuccessful outcome’ is medical euphemism, language anesthetised to cover up the painful truth.
Three-part ITV thriller Trauma was about uncovering painful truths. It was the story of working class dad Dan Bowker (John Simm), and his unbending belief that he’d been lied to about the death of his son.
