Since 2021, fans have not been rewarded with a new Battlefield game. The primary game gap is getting to be the longest in the franchise’s history, as more than three years have gone by since the controversial Battlefield 2042 launch. But that’s probably for a good cause.

The majority of reviews for this game were unfavorable because many people thought it was a “step back” for the franchise. Now that thorough playtests are beginning, EA appears committed to making amends with Battlefield 2025. Despite being a huge franchise in the gaming world, this series never shed some light on the silver screens, but that might become a reality in the near future.

Battlefield Mobile, the free-to-play mobile version of Industrial Toys’ multiplayer shooter, was eventually shut down in January 2023. After beta testing the game in a few locations in November 2022, it was abandoned. The announcement was included in EA’s Q3 2023 financial results, along with the news that Star Wars: Jedi Survivor would be delayed and Apex Legends Mobile would be canceled.

Like Apex Legends Mobile, Battlefield Mobile was designed to run separately from its console and PC counterparts, meaning it would not support cross-play or cross-progression. It would also come with unique cosmetics, battle pass seasons, and rewards. However, the money-minded mentality of jagging cash from the fans through the microtransactions actually made the game a disaster.

Call of Duty and Battlefield have been going head-to-head for nearly two decades, but CoD has had the edge for a long time, despite both franchises exploring similar kinds of conflicts. The last game in the franchise, Battlefield 2042, wasn’t really successful with a mixed response.

There are several projects currently in development focusing on a brand-new Battlefield universe, and it is now reported that the next game in the franchise that will be coming in 2025 will have a free-to-play Battle Royale mode similar to Call of Duty‘s popular Warzone.

Battlefield 2025 to Feature Call of Duty Like Free-to-Play Battle Royale

The next Battlefield game will feature a Call of Duty: Warzone-like free-to-play Battle Royale.

According to an exclusive report by Insider Gaming, the 2025 installment in the franchise will feature a “new experience” in the form of a free-to-play Battle Royale that is being developed by Ripple Effect Studios.
