Dandadan got the anime community buzzing with its first season, with viewers praising it for being faithful to the source material, even in the most absurd moments. From its stylish opening sequence to its finale, Season 1 of Dandadan is perfection.
With the second season of the anime set to release in July 2025, the anticipation is at an all-time high, along with the expectations that it will uphold the legacy of its predecessor.

Dandadan’s Season 2 will have to work overtime to impress fans, and it has its work cut out for it. Will it be able to rise to the occasion, or will it collapse under pressure?

There’s a lot to love among fans about Fire Force, its striking visual style, the wild fight scenes, the gripping back story on spontaneous human combustion, and the ethereal mystery of the Evangelist. Now that Fire Force Season 3 returned with a bang, the fans are completely hyped.
The initial minutes got things going with some dynamite action, familiar buddies, and some new developments in the fire soldiers and White-Clad heretics. But within a few minutes of the new season, that same frustration comes back. Just when you’re getting immersed in the heat of battle or the tension of an unfolding conspiracy, bam!

Tamaki trips over her own feet, clothes fly, and the tone of the scene crashes into what feels like a shallow pit of forced fan service. Hey, fan service isn’t really that bad in itself.

Just when typical shonen protagonists were almost invariably labeled for having plain characteristic features, Fire Force came in to save the genre. We’re all familiar with how Goku, Luffy, Naruto, and others have that quintessential “goody two-shoes” character, always leaving a positive impression on those around them. However, this trope was getting a bit stale.
To shake things up, Atsushi Okubo, the creator of the Fire Force anime, came up with something new. He was determined to make his main protagonist distinct from his peers.

In a past conversation, Okubo shared an intriguing detail he incorporated into Shinra’s facial features – his unsettling, psychotic smile! A creepy smile that is not to be feared but loved.

After 4 years, Atsushi Ohkubo’s Fire Force has finally made an epic comeback with the third season, which was much awaited by the fans. The series was considered one of the best anime stories in the world, and now, with the third season, the creators hope to live on the same legacy by moving forward within the Fire Force storyline.
The first episode of Fire Force’s third season was recently released, giving us a glimpse into the struggles of Special Fire Force Company 8 as their captain, Akitaru Obi, has been imprisoned. The team decides to go against everyone and save their captain, but it might not be easy at all, as the forces they are up against are much more dangerous and powerful.

However, aside from the story, the one thing that fans were eagerly waiting for was the opening theme of the series.

Fire Force Season 3 began with the screams of Infernals during the first Great Cataclysm. The episode continued with Squad 8 training at the top of their base and reintroductions of the main cast.

The era of anime took a big turn in 2025 as some of the greatest projects are being released this year. From One Piece’s return to Fire Force Season 3, 2025 is jam-packed, and it is safe to say that this year will reshape the anime industry in a big way. Among the many anime series and movies that are coming out this year, the one that fans are particularly excited about is Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.

The movie is the best phase in the Chainsaw Man storyline and will portray the new dark adventures of Denji as she understands his feelings toward Makima and Reze. However, what’s more astonishing is that Chainsaw Man has gained numbers that rank the franchise closer to industry giants like Demon Slayer, and that too with just a single season under its belt.

Wall Street is betting big on anime, with one major firm predicting that the anime streaming market is set to grow to $16 billion by 2030, with Crunchyroll and Netflix currently leading the way.
Via Variety, Wall Street research firm Bernstein released new estimates of the overseas anime streaming market, revealing that Netflix and Crunchyroll dominated 2023's market share with 42% and 40%, respectively. The rest of the streamers combined totaled a far more modest 18%, with the overseas anime streaming market worth $3.7 billion in total.

Despite the competition between the two streamers, with Netflix acquiring exclusive streaming rights to major titles like Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King and the upcoming One Piece remake -- both of whose previous releases streamed exclusively on Crunchyroll -- Bernstein says the pair can co-exist and grow in the anime market due to their different advantages.

Fire Force is one of the most underrated shonen anime of all time. The series' first two seasons were popular, but deserve vastly more praise than they receive. They follow Shinra's journey to grow past his illicit reputation and save the world as a member of the Fire Force. Although the series has some fanservice problems, it has all the potential of a classic anime series. Yet, the anime hasn't received a new episode since 2020. Fans were largely left in the dark until a new season was announced last year. Thankfully, Fire Force Season 3 is almost here.
Fire Force Season 3's first episode will air on Crunchyroll on April 4th, 2025. The anime also dropped a truly amazing trailer preceding the new season. The trailer hints at many of the biggest conflicts for the upcoming final season. Fire Force Company 8 is again going toe to toe with their greatest enemies,...

Fan theories have been around for as long as there have been pieces of media to be fans of. It's human nature to want to speculate about how a story will turn out, after all. Part of the curse and blessing of being human is the capacity for complex thought and critical thinking skills. Fan theories are often the result of this side effect of sentience and wild imagination. As a result, many of them have a tendency to be wrong. Anime draws in those with a fascination for the bombastic, so the theories are often over-the-top and impossible as well.
However, once in a blue moon, those theories actually manage to have a basis in reality. Deductive reasoning that leads to a correct conclusion is actually a sign of interesting and intriguing writing, giving enough information for eagle-eyed viewers to put the pieces together faster than those who are less observant.

From the moment it premiered, Dandadan held nothing back, delivering one of the most chaotic first episodes in anime history. It wasn't at all surprising that viewers started comparing it to Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, specifically regarding its frenetic energy and over-the-top storytelling. Despite most of the feedback being positive, the shonen anime rubbed some viewers the wrong way and criticism surfaced.
Critics of the anime kept saying that Dandadan had too much fan service. Anime fans today are increasingly vocal about representation and over-sexualization within the medium. So when Dandadan's characters kept ending up in their underwear, and the extraterrestrials relentlessly sought after Momo for their procreation purposes, there were many out there who questioned whether Dandadan was doing too much for too little.

While some anime characters amaze viewers with superhuman feats of strength or intellect, sheer speed is one of the most entertaining and impressive physical feats of all. Plenty of anime characters push their mobility to the limit, moving faster than the eye can see to give themselves a serious edge in battle. Being too fast to hit is the best armor of all, most of all for characters who can keep pace with or even surpass the famed Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic is one quick character, but even he would fall behind when racing certain anime characters who have become speed incarnate. Some of those characters employ their dazzling speed in short bursts, such as ultra-rapid punches or leaps, while others can cross a long distance and maintain their unbelievable speed for quite some time. Some of those quick-moving characters pair their speed with astonishing strength as well, making them nigh-unbeatable in battle.

Even the most well-written anime can suffer from several problematic tropes that do more damage to the story than if they had been excluded in the first place. Tropes exist for writers to utilize to help tell their story while also being an easy way for audiences to identify certain plot or character choices. In short, tropes are kind of like blueprints or note cards for authors to use and viewers to easily understand.
However, not all tropes are created equal. Some tropes become so popular that they now oversaturate anime series while other tropes haven't aged particularly well as audiences have refined their tastes and standards over time. Anime specifically uses a wide range of tropes that have become iconic in the medium, but not all of them deserve such use. Even including just a few problematic tropes can otherwise damage or ruin a 10/10 anime.

Shonen anime are famous for their moving storylines and riveting character growth. However, they are also renowned for their sometimes acceptable, while sometimes problematic, fan service. It is understandable that fan service is there to attract fans to the show, but when it becomes too much, that is when problems occur.
Sakamoto and Shin from Sakamoto Days [Credits: Tms Entertainment]
Recently, Sakamoto Days released an episode with a bath scene, and fans are pleasantly amazed at how unproblematic it was. The fact that fans are now surprised because of this proves that Sakamoto Days is at least doing one thing right.
It is reshaping the Shonen genre into something that can exist without unnecessary nudity.

As anime’s largest and most popular demographic, shonen anime is full of titles spanning over every genre and subgenre imaginable. Many of the medium’s most iconic titles come from shonen, topping the charts as the greatest series of all time. From beloved classics like Dragon Ball and Fullmetal Alchemist to modern hits, such as Dandadan or Demon Slayer, shonen anime have been some of the most influential series in anime history. But while these popular series have gotten fans hooked for decades, they’re still far from perfect.
The anime industry is constantly evolving, improving with each new release. As a result, even some of the most legendary shonen series start to feel outdated. Many of the genre’s best haven’t aged as well as fans might have hoped, with visuals that no longer meet modern standards and writing that feels out of touch with today’s audiences.

Fire Force is a beloved shonen anime that has sadly been on hiatus for the last 4 years. Thankfully, the third season has been announced for the spring of this year. The most recent trailer teases many important concepts, including a large-scale conflict that could permanently change the Fire Force world. The White-Clad have finally begun to execute their terrible plans and have kidnapped Akitaru Obi to instigate the all-out war. This future battle could have disastrous consequences for the White-Clad and the Fire Force, and many fans have started questioning how effective Company 8 could be without its fearless leader.
Akitaru Obi is responsible for many of Company 8's greatest successes. Yet, some of these victories narrowly cost the entire squad their lives. Akitaru Obi's absence isn't the trailer's only reveal — Leonard Burns is finally exposed as a traitor. This change isn't surprising, but helps set up another reason for the coming battle.
