Charlie Vickers, best known for his role as Sauron on Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerand Yerin Ha, set to star as Sophie Baek, the lead of Bridgerton Season 4 opposite Luke Thompson, will be teaming up together for a Netflix Australian drama The Survivors. The streamer unveiled its 2025 Australian slate today, along with a slew of other projects for the U.S. Netflix.

Netflix’s Regency-era drama Bridgerton is all atwitter this Wednesday afternoon as news that Yerin Ha is about to light up the hit show’s fourth season. Netflix unveiled a teaser video this morning introducing Ha as Sophie Baek (Sophie Beckett in the books), the love interest of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). Sophie engages in a slow-burn romance with Benedict in Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer From a Gentleman, the source material for Bridgerton Season 4.

World sales agency Square Eyes has boarded Vietnamese drama “Cu Li Never Cries,” which has its world premiere in the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival. Variety debuts the trailer below.

Her young niece, who lives with her, is preparing for her wedding. The young couple anxiously ponder their uncertain future together. The present in which the characters live and the complex echoes of Vietnamese history intertwine in a contemplative and poetic way.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the A Quiet Place: Day One's release date has been pushed back for over three months. Previously scheduled to debut on March 8, 2024, the sci-fi horror prequel will now be arriving in theaters next summer on June 28, 2024, replacing Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 2. That follows previous delayed release dates that were originally set in March 2023 and September 2023.

Consequently, the god Ra "empowers their own surprising new champion" to take down Marc's killer.

Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish teased that the highly anticipated prequel to John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place franchise is still on track for its 2024 release despite the Hollywood strikes.

Per Variety, Bakish addressed the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, ensuring investors that Paramount Pictures still has a good stock of upcoming movies which have already been filmed. One of these completed high-profile projects is A Quiet Place: Day One, which serves as a spinoff prequel to the original 2018 horror film. "With respect to our film slate, the good news is we have a significant number of films on which production is complete," Bakish said. "That includes Killers of the Flower Moon, Bob Marley, John Krasinski’s If, as well as A Quiet Place: Day One, and Dear Santa with Jack Black. We also have the Mean Girls musical for Paramount+."

Paramount Global hosted its second-quarter earnings call Tuesday amid the ongoing writers and actors strikes in Hollywood. Just like every other major media company that has reported its Q2 results already, the CBS parent company’s execs addressed the work stoppages with hopes for a timely resolution and comments on how it will affect their business operations.

“We anticipate continued delays in production for the duration of the strikes, and as such, we estimate free cash flow in the back half of the year will be significantly higher than previously expected,” Paramount CFO Naveen Chopra said.

Chopra’s projection comes a week after Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels stated that the company had saved more than $100 million in Q2 as a result of delayed and scrapped productions during the Hollywood strikes.

“I’d like to take a moment to address the issue that is top of mind for all of us. The ongoing writers and actor strikes. were saddened that as an industry, we couldn’t come to an agreement that would have prevented this. Our partnership with the creative community is critical to the health of our industry, so we remain hopeful for a timely resolution, and we are committed to finding a path forward. At the same time, we have a responsibility to minimize disruptions to our audiences and other constituents,” he said.

This comes after the WGA and the AMPTP failed to reach an agreement to resume contract negotiations after a meeting on Friday.

Paramount Global reached 61 million Paramount+ streaming subscribers worldwide in the three months ended June 30, a slight gain from the 60 million announced last quarter, but importantly the company pared down its streaming losses.

On the streaming side, the company reported a quarterly adjusted operating loss before depreciation and amortization of $424 million compared to $511 million last quarter and $445 million a year ago. Subscription revenue increased 21 percent year-over-year, to reach $1.2 billion, thanks to growth in the number of subscribers compared to Q2 2022, as well as growth in digital advertising.

Episode 9 "What If... the Watcher Broke His Oath?" of Marvel's animated anthology series What If...? featured a scene that confused many at the time. Despite a general radio silence over the future of Marvel Studios' What If...? Season 2, the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's animated series may have zeroed in on a release window.

According to insider CanWeGetSomeToast, the second season of the multiverse-hopping show will hit Disney+ in December 2023 or January 2024. They go on to state that the premiere will not be the much-discussed "What If Tony Landed on Sakaar" episode which was supposedly cut from Season 1. It's worth noting that neither Marvel Studios nor Disney have verified these claims so it's recommended that fans take this news with a grain of salt.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the team behind the high school comedy “Superbad,” had sold Brian Robbins, the CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, on the idea of adding some adolescent anarchy into their animated reboot of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” But there was a problem with the initial designs for the film’s four reptile heroes: Instead of looking like muscular teens, these Turtles were scrawny and malnourished, barely strong enough to wield nunchucks or hurl a throwing star. “They looked like they were on Ozempic,” Robbins jokes.
