David Richardson, the veteran writer and showrunner of such television comedies as “The Simpsons,” “Two and a Half Men” and “Malcolm in the Middle,” died Monday from heart failure. He was 65.
Richardson, who was a cancer survivor for almost 30 years, began his three-decade career as a comedy writer on Michael Leeson/Carsey-Werner’s NBC series “Grand” starring Bonnie Hunt, as well as the family-friendly “Zoobilee Zoo” with Ben Vereen and “The Pat Sajak Show”.
He went on to be one of the most successful writer-producers in television, wearing both hats on shows like “Empty Nest,” “The Simpsons,” “The John Larroquette Show,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Two and a Half Men” and, most recently, the adult animated series “F Is for Family,” which just wrapped its fifth and final season on Netflix.
He also served as co-executive producer on “Phenom” (starring Judith Light), “Soul Man” (starring Dan Aykroyd), “What About Joan...

The wonderfully weird Sia tour continued Thursday night at Jimmy Kimmel Live with the Australian singer performing another back-to-the-audience performance of "Chandelier," but not before Kimmel and his sidekick Guillermo took on the choreography under the tutelage of the video's dancer Maddie Ziegler. Kimmel boasted, "I don't dance a lot, but when I do dance, I dance well." Both Kimmel and Guillermo, outfitted in beige leotards and blonde wigs, ran through portions of the choreography as Maddie gave them feedback. Afterwards, she tells Kimmel, "It's better than I thought it would be," while telling Guillermo, "You have a dancer's face." In her estimation, both of them were "pretty equal," but for us, Guillermo's crazy eyes stole the show. And just to show you how it's really done, Maddie stood in for Sia onstage looking like a cast member of Zoobilee Zoo:...

The Blood Stream mines the Internet for horror gold so you don’t have to, delivering streamable horror titles never before featured on Dread Central. Occasionally I’ll dredge up something good, maybe even great. To find those gems, I’ll have to sift through a lot of breathtakingly bad cinema. Enjoy!
Half-Caste is a relatively novel lycanthropy yarn. It hits the ground running with an excellent shock moment at the beginning, leading into a great first act. Alas, somewhere toward the midway point the wheels fly off and the whole thing implodes under the weight of nonsensical plot points and baffling chronologies.
I fully admit it's possible that even the appearance of a strong beginning was just the result of exceeding the abyssal expectations set by the movie’s poster, which makes the monster look like an ad for a hooker at a furry convention:

We were thinking about Zoobilee Zoo, the eighties children's television show about artistically inclined anthropomorphic creatures. We asked Ben Vereen — who played the leopard mayor on the series — if he'd ever consider doing a reunion, and he was enthusiastic. "Yes!" he told us. "You're the first to talk to me about it. You're a Zoobaroo! You're a Zoobaroo!" he said. (That's the term Mayor Ben had used to welcome viewers to the show.) "I would want everyone in the cast to come back together and talk to the children, talk with them, entertain them, yes." This time, though, he'd want things to be slightly different. "I'd like to have it live," he said, and laughed. "Yes I would. [In an announced voice] Mayor Ben is bringing you Zoobilee...

"The Voice" is back for Season 3 and it really does look like three's the charm for the NBC reality singing competition. Christina Aguilera graduated from leather diapers to leather daisy dukes and with that, she's tuned down her "woo's" and irritating factor. Cee Lo upgraded from mohawks and latex to some silk. With that, he kept his creepy underage lady pick-up tricks to a minimum and his weird new show pet -- in this case, Lady, a Moluccan cockatoo -- was only exploited once. And in general, there was less catty bickering, car salesmanship and the sob stories weren't forced.
But, of course, some things never change -- Christina Aguilera's boobs were out in full effect, Christina Milian was wearing a horrendous dress and talking about "trending worldwide," Carson Daly was sufficiently awkward and there was also a gender ambiguous singer and a "I'm so pretty, but it was...

This BBC version of the timeless classic anthology The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis would be really entertaining to me if it were a 6-12 year old in 1990. It mixes 2D animation with live action, animal characters in beaver and fawn costumes, and an over-the-top, fantastically theatrical evil White Witch (Barbara Kellrman) who you’d swear was Angelica Huston at first glance. It’s like a cross between 1998’s dramatic TV miniseries Merlin starring Sam Neil and Helena Bonham Carter and Zoobilee Zoo.
In the first installment which most of us are familiar with, “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” Precocious youngster Lucy and her siblings Edmund, Peter and Susan are sent to live in a countryside mansion during war time. The house is owned by the sage-like kook Professor Digory Kirk (Michael Aldridge) who welcomes them with whimsy and a wink. While exploring their new house, Lucy stumbles upon an old wardrobe,...
