The Gujarati film industry has got the first hit of the year at the box office, with Umbarro delivering a profit of 147%. After 29 days, the film stands at a total collection of 9.88 crore and has surpassed every single Gujarati film of 2024-25 except 1!

The highest-grossing Gujarati film last year was Jhamkudi that earned a total of 18.7 crore in its lifetime. The horror-comedy was made on a reported budget of 5 crore and earned a profit of almost 274% at the box office, making an unbelievable success story!

In six days, the film stands at a total collection of 2.66 crore, and it might be difficult for the film to reach the hit tag, but it might find a way to recover its budget.

The film has been reportedly mounted on a budget of 4 crore, and it has already recovered 66.5% of its budget already. Currently, the comedy-drama is 1.34 crore away from recovering its entire budget at the box office.

The trailer of the upcoming Marathi film ‘Jhimma 2’ has been unveiled and it shows women from different backgrounds reuniting for a trip and how they try to make their way around in a new place.

The film’s trailer launch was attended bydirector Hemant Dhome, actors Suhas Joshi, Nirmitee Sawant, Suchitra Bandekar, Kshitee Jog, Sayali Sanjeev, Rinku Rajguru, Shivani Surve, Siddharth Chandekar and producer Aanand L Rai.

A decade after scoring a major hit with “Raanjhanaa,” Indian director-producer Aanand L. Rai is returning to its universe with “Tere Ishk Mein.”

“Raanjhanaa,” an intense Hindu-Muslim romantic drama, was the Hindi-language debut of Tamil cinema star Dhanush and featured chartbusting music by Oscar-, BAFTA-, Grammy- and Golden Globe-winner A.R. Rahman.

While keeping the plot under wraps, Rai told Variety, “When we were working on the ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ script, we realized that we are catching on to the same aggression. And in terms of genre, it’s falling in that genre of tragedy and I said, it’s actually belonging to that world. They’re not similar stories, but they have a similar heartbeat. We were getting the same feeling what we were getting when we were working on ‘Raanjhanaa.’ I said, let’s start belonging to that world.”

Mumbai, Feb 25 (Ians) Director Aanand L. Rai, whose film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ clocked in 12 years since its release, expressed gratitude to the audience for giving their love to the film.

Speaking about the film, the director said: “The response this beautiful story received is unmatched. The film is still relatable to a wide audience even today & that’s what a beautiful story does. It leaves an impact every time. I can’t believe the film has completed twelve years today. Gratitude only for all the love and support.”

‘Tanu Weds Manu’, produced by Aanand L. Rai and Colour Yellow Productions also led to a sequel ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ which was released in 2015.

The Marathi film ‘Jhimma’, which released in 2021 and made many records for the regional Marathi cinema industry, is returning with its second part titled ‘Jhimma 2’. The story of ‘Jhimma’ revolves around seven women from different age groups and socio-cultural backgrounds coming together and celebrating life.

The sequel will be directed by Hemant Dhome, and was announced through a special video which is a recreation of a popular scene from the first part of the franchise. The video also shows that new characters will be introduced in the sequel.

Director Hemant Dhome shared: “‘Jhimma’ wasn’t just a film but a passion project. The way it was received by the audience was so heartwarming. The second part is going to be better and bigger for sure. With personalities like Aanand L. Rai in the team, we are sure to give another promising project.”
