This is a rare full-season order of that size in the new broadcast era where seasons often consist of 13-18 episodes. The last Fox drama to produce 22 episodes was the network’s previous medical show, The Resident, which delivered 23 during the 2021-22 season.

What makes Doc‘s pickup size even more unusual is that it is given to a series that launched in midseason. As they only air for a couple of months, these freshmen have smaller orders, between eight and 13 episodes. (Doc‘s was 10.) High Potential season 1 gets a return date on ABC, though the popular show is getting a new timeslot. Since its September debut, the detective drama has been a big hit. Based on the French series Hpi, with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson in the lead role, High Potential has the distinction of being ABC's most-watched premiere in nearly four years.

Deadline confirms that Olson's hit adaptation is on the move, noting that High Potential season 1 will return from its hiatus on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 9 Pm Et. This is a new timeslot for the show which has so far aired at 10 Pm Et. The new timeslot pairs High Potential with another detective drama, Will Trent season 3, which airs at 9 Pm Et. The Rookie season 7, meanwhile, closes out the night at 10 Pm Et. All three series will remain available to stream on Hulu, with new episodes dropping the next day.

The series premiere of “High Potential” has reached over 20 million viewers in over a month from its debut, TheWrap can reveal exclusively.

After 35 days of viewing, “High Potential” Episode 1 scored 20.38 million viewers across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and other digital platforms, according to Nielsen live-plus-35-day figures. That’s up whopping 468% from the premiere episode’s initial live-plus-same-day viewership of 3.59 million, when the Kaitlin Olson-led series debuted Sept. 17 on ABC.

Ratings for the premiere episode also saw a 12-fold increase compared to the live-plus-same-day rating of 0.35 in the key broadcast demo among adults 18-49, with over a month of multiplatform viewing scoring a 4.17 rating.

Viewership for the series premiere went up to 7.32 million after three days of multiplatform viewing, which was quickly outpaced by Episode 3 of “High Potential,” which scored 8.74 million viewers in its first three days of viewing across ABC, Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

Episode 3 of the Kaitlin Olson-led procedural scored 8.74 million viewers in its first three days of viewing across ABC, Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, according to Nielsen live-plus-three-day viewing figures. That’s up from the live-plus-three-day multiplatform for the series premiere, which scored 7.32 million viewers.

The third episode, which aired on Oct. 8, also posted a 17% increase in ratings, with the series premiere scoring a 1.33 live-plus-three-day rating in the key broadcast demo among adults 18-49 while Episode 3 brought in a 1.56 rating.

If you need more proof that linear ratings for network TV aren't the only bar for success, look no further than the series premiere of ABC's High Potential. Per Variety, the series premiere of High Potential jumped a massive 220 percent from 3.5 million viewers to 11.5 million viewers after three days of viewing across all platforms, including Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. Even more impressive was its jump in the still very important for advertisers 18-49 demographic, where it surged 354 percent from a 0.35 rating to a 1.59 rating. These results are some of the highest for an ABC drama premiere since the premiere of Big Sky in 2020.
