While expectations from a Salman Khan film on Eid are very high, Bodyguard has beaten all pre-opening estimations.

Bodyguard has taken a stupendous start at the global box office, smashing many box office records for an Indian film in the process. These include the single largest days collections in India and the highest opening day in India and the UAE: Rs. 20 crore in India and 11 lakh dirham (Rs 1.36 crore) in Dubai.

The film has also opened a record mid-week opening in the UK. Tuesday saw limited screens at 32 cinemas taking £64,000. Wednesday’s full release was record breaking, with 51 cinemas, culminating in £195,000, making it the highest opening day for any Indian movie to date.

It also yielded an extremely strong opening in Us. With a five day weekend in all markets we expect that Bodyguard will post a new record for an opening weekend in many markets.

Salman Khan’s Bodyguard is a debacle unless you are one of his blind worshipers in a packed cinema hall who would whistle and clap at his every move. The film is disdainful to your sensibility and unfortunately even lacks any entertainment value; if in-your-face risqué dialogues and bosom-bottom jokes still manage to titillate you, it’s quite another thing.

It takes you merely the few first scenes to be able to predict the entire film. But who watches such a film for plot anyway? Salman Khan is easily the world’s most loved Khan (With Shahrukh being the top dog and Amir being the thinking man’s Khan). Last year, his Eid release “Dabangg” became the 2nd biggest grosser in the history of Bollywood. New Delhi, Aug 29: After playing a fearless cop in 'Dabangg' and a romantic in 'Ready', superstar Salman Khan is back this Eid with more action and drama in director Siddique's 'Bodyguard', which also stars Kareena Kapoor in the lead.

'Bodyguard' is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film of the same name. It is being co-produced by Atul Agnihotri and Reliance Entertainment. The makers have set up a marketing and print budget of around Rs.22 crore.

Bodyguard, being released on August 31st, stars the very exciting jodi of Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. New Delhi, Aug 28: After spending more than two decades in the southern film industry, director Siddique has entered Bollywood with 'Bodyguard' and says that he finds the Hindi film industry creatively satisfying.

'The market of the Hindi film industry is bigger in comparison to the south. Here one can think big and execute it as well. There are no limitations. It is a creatively satisfying place for any filmmaker,' Siddique told Ians in an interview.

'One does not need to worry about funds. The bigger you imagine, the bigger.

Director Siddique says he loved working with 'dedicated' Bollywood star Salman Khan in 'Bodyguard', and would be more than glad to work with him again.

But he has clarified that he hasn't signed any new film with the actor as yet.

'I haven't signed any more films here in Bollywood. But I would love to work with Salman. I have a project in mind, but we haven't spoken about it or finalised anything on it,' Siddique told Ians.

The southern director is all praises for Salman.

'Salman is very passionate about his work. He is very fit and strict about his workout regime. He literally breathes and eats.

There are three people looking for a hat-trick from the upcoming release Bodyguard: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and film director Siddique.

Last week saw the trailer launch of Salman Khan Starrer ‘Bodyguard’ at a suburban multiplex in Mumbai. Launched in an innovative marketing gimmick by Salman’s real-life bodyguard of 15 years Shera, the evening was full of laugher and witty talk on the three Khans’, Katrina, Kareena and Bodyguard.

A very humbled and emotional Shera confessed that it was the biggest honor Salman had given him to unveil the film’s trailer. “For the past 15 years I have been telling bhai (Salman) that I would take a bullet for him. But the truth is that Salman can do anything for his loved ones. He is the real life bodyguard”

It’s finally out! The Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Bodyguard is out with its first look. The film, directed by Siddique is remake of Malayalam film of the same name opens on September 2nd!

The story revolves around young Salman Khan, who has a very strange habit; he adulates anyone with a trace of heroism. Whenever he develops an admiration towards a person, he prefers to move with that person as a sort of bodyguard. He starts admiring Ashokan, a former liquor tycoon and leading businessman. Salman Khan wants to be Ashokan’s bodyguard, but Ashokan does not need a bodyguard. Later, Salman Khan approaches Ashokan with a recommendation from someone he cannot refuse. He achieves his luck after saving Ashokan from danger.

Salman Khan thus becomes the bodyguard of Ashokan’s only daughter Kareena Kapoor.

"Salman's innocence propelled me to cast him in Bodyguard," says director Siddique, the man who wields the megaphone for Atul Agnihotri in Bodyguard.
