"It's a gateway - and it leads straight, down, to hell." Sony Pictures UK has debuted the first full UK trailer for a horror comedy titled Slaughterhouse Rulez, the latest from director Crispian Mills (A Fantastic Fear of Everything). The film is also the latest featuring both Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, the duo best known from Edgar Wright's Cornetto trilogy. Slaughterhouse Rulez is about an illustrious British boarding school that becomes a bloody battleground when a mysterious sinkhole appears at a nearby fracking site unleashing unspeakable horror. It's going to be bloody. Starring Asa Butterfield, Finn Cole, Hermione Corfield, Michael Sheen, with Frost and Pegg. This reminds me a bit of Battle Royale, but packed with British humor and rich yuppies instead of crazy Japanese gore. Looks like fun. Prepare to get Slaughtered... Here's the first international trailer for Crispian Mills' Slaughterhouse Rulez, direct from YouTube: Welcome to Slaughterhouse,...

If you've been hungry for another Simon Pegg / Nick Frost movie after their co-starring roles in Edgar Wright's "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy, then you can now add Slaughterhouse Rulez to your watch list. A new horror comedy that re-teams Pegg with director Crispian Mills (A Fantastic Fear of Everything), Slaughterhouse Rulez also co-stars Frost and features what could be a portal to Hell in the film's official trailer.
Directed by Crispian Mills from a screenplay co-written by himself and Henry Fitzherbert, Slaughterhouse Rulez stars Asa Butterfield, Finn Cole, Hermione Corfield, Michael Sheen, Nick Frost, and Simon Pegg. Sony Pictures will release Slaughterhouse Rulez in the UK on Halloween, but a Us release date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details.

We haven't heard much about Slaughterhouse Rulez since it was first announced last summer. Today, Sony Pictures has released the first trailer and poster along with a surprise release date. The movie is coming to theaters this Halloween. Or at least it is in the U.K. A U.S. release date hasn't been announced yet.
In Slaughterhouse Rulez, a giant hole opens up near a boarding school unleashing hell, quite literally. The movie reunites Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, though they've left director Edgar Wright out of the equation this time. The two actors appear in the movie, but it's the young cast that really takes the lead here. And the movie looks like a lot of fun. It's a mix of Shaun of the Dead, Ghostbusters and maybe a little bit of Seth Rogen's This is the End. Sony only provided a very limited synopsis.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost already have one iconic British horror-comedy under their belts thanks to Edgar Wright’s “Shaun of the Dead,” but can lighting strike twice? The two comedians co-star in the upcoming “Slaughterhouse Rulez,” from director and rock musician Crispian Mills.
“Slaughterhouse Rulez” centers around an esteemed British boarding school thrown into chaos after a sinkhole appears at a nearby fracking site and releases something hellish. Asa Butterfield and Finn Cole play a couple of the students who team up with their teaches to fight for survival. Pegg and Michael Sheen star as teachers.
Mills co-write the script for “Slaughterhouse Rulez” with Henry Fitzherbert. The director’s last film, “A Fantastic Fear of Everything,” also starred Pegg. The actor and Frost are best known as the stars of Wright’s Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, which includes “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” and “The World’s End.

The duo behind Shaun of the Dead are back at it again with another horror comedy that is shaping up quite nicely. Slaughterhouse Rulez is re-teaming Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for what sounds like it could be the spiritual successor to the beloved zombie flick, even though they are doing it without Edgar Wright at the helm this time. The movie has officially filled out its core cast, bringing in some promising up-and-comers to star alongside Pegg and Frost.
Deadline reports that Finn Cole (Animal Kingdom, Peaky Blinders) is set to lead the cast of Slaugtherhouse Rulez, which is going to be the first movie produced by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's production banner Stolen Picture. Cole's character Don Wallace is described as the hero of the story and is "a wide-eyed new kid from a modest background forced to navigate a baffling new world of arcane rules and rituals.

I'm a big fan of the films that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have developed together over the years. In case you need a reminder, those films include Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul and The World’s End. Now they are once again joining forces to bring us a new horror comedy genre project called Slaughterhouse Rulez.
The film is the first project they will be working on under their new UK-based production banner called Stolen Picture. The film is also being backed by Sony Pictures. The movie is being directed by Crispian Mills (A Fantastic Fear of Everything) from a script he co-wrote with Henry Fitzherbert (Love & Friendship). There's no word on if they will star together in the film, but I hope they do! It sounds like a cool project for them to be a part of! Here's they synopsis that was released thanks to Deadline:...

Having worked together for nearly two decades, the comedy duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have started an entertainment company together. The longtime friends will call their new company Stolen Picture, and have already decided on a first project, a comedy-horror titled Slaughterhouse Rulez.
The film will be set at a topnotch boarding school where status means everything. The protagonist, Don Wallace, is the new kid, learning the nuances of this strange institution while Sixth Formers (older students 16-18) strictly enforce the archaic laws and rituals of the school.
Meanwhile, a nearby fracking operation causes earthquakes and a very ominous sinkhole to appear that releases unimaginable horrors upon the school. With the school’s social hierarchy reset, the students and faculty must find a way to survive.

British comedians Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have started a new production company called Stolen Picture and announced their first project entitled Slaughterhouse Rulez. Pegg and Frost first worked together on the British sitcom Spaced and have gone on to collaborate with Edgar Wright on Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. In addition, the duo wrote, directed, and starred in the hilarious extraterrestrial comedy Paul. Frost and Pegg developed Stolen Picture to produce different types of scripted television shows or movies that fit into their unique brand of absurdity.
Deadline reports that Slaughterhouse Rulez will be a horror-comedy that takes place at an elite boarding school called Slaughterhouse. The hero of the story is Don Wallace, a lad from a modest background who must navigate his way through a Slaughterhouse with sadistic rituals, tough rules, competition, and status while being closely monitored.

We take a look at new Blu-rays of two ’80s classics.
Shout! Factory’s relatively young collectors label, Shout Select, is something of an odd duck. This is less of a criticism than an observation as their releases so far bear no real discernible through line. We’ve gotten well-deserved Blu-rays of eagerly awaited ’80s classics like To Live and Die in La, Road House, and Midnight Run, but the label has also released/announced titles like Death of a Salesman, The Chinese Connection, and Simon Pegg’s forgettable 2012 film, A Fantastic Fear of Everything. So yeah, there’s something of an odd inconsistency across the catalog.
For now though we’re here to discuss their latest releases, two ’80s films of varying acclaim and renown — John Milius’ Red Dawn and Dennis Hopper’s Colors.

Pinewood Television, a joint venture with StoryFirst Pst, has hired Helen Gregory as creative director to create, develop and finance drama series for the international TV market.
Pinewood Group opened conversations with experienced producers in 2011, with the new division expected to produce its own content as well as work as a co-production partner on dramas in need of funding.
Pinewood has already invested in a dozen feature films, including A Fantastic Fear of Everything and Kill Your Friends, and said it now planned to develop, produce, market and distribute high-end TV drama to build up a library of TV content. It is currently arranging long-term external financing from a group of investors and banks.

It's no small feat having co-written and starred in the hallowed Cornetto Trilogy, but Simon Pegg has also managed to carve out a sizable back catalog of generally entertaining if sometimes forgettable features. Between lending support to the "Mission: Impossible" and "Star Trek" franchises, you'd think the "Nerd Do Well" author wouldn't have the time to turn in full-fledged leading man performances in "A Fantastic Fear of Everything" and again, in the upcoming "Hector and the Search for Happiness." Now, a new trailer has dropped, looking suspiciously reminiscent of "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty." Based on François Lelord's novel of the same name, Pegg portrays the titular hector, a psychiatrist whose well-organized, positively banal life is beginning to suffocate him. He leaves a doting wife (Rosemund Pike) and appears to travel the world, running across Stellan Skarsgård, Jean Reno, and...

Edgar Wright’s spot-on haunted house parody Don’t, the best of the half-dozen trailer spoofs showcased in the feature-length version of Grindhouse, boasts more jokes and scares across its 87-second running time than A Fantastic Fear of Everything musters over more than an hour and a half. And yet, for those familiar with this distinctly British style of horror-comedy, such an unfavorable comparison is difficult to ignore: The influence of Wright seems to loom over every aspect of the picture, from its often precarious tonal oscillations to the presence of its leading man, Simon Pegg, whose lauded turns in Wright’s Cornetto trilogy made the otherwise niche TV actor an international star. Like Wright, first-time director Crispian Mi...

With this weekend’s A Fantastic Fear of Everything, Simon Pegg stars as Jack, a children’s book author who becomes obsessive and paranoid about death and murder — even when there’s nothing at all to worry about. While Jack is an adult who can’t cope with the real world because of his obsessions, it’s more often the kids who are deemed the scaredy cats due to their irrational fears. Maybe that has a little to do with sneaking scary movies bright and early? It’s a rite of passage, really, that happens when Dad is snoring on the other side of the couch and the remote is blissfully, blessedly unattended for once. That’s right; it’s time to steal that remote and secretly switch the channel to the scariest programming possible. Nightmares be damned, you’re nine years old and you have living to do, man! A Fantastic Fear of Everything is a film that Wes Anderson would make if he didn’t give a flying sausage about storytelling. It has many of his auteur signatures (a twee pop-art sensibility, creative and meticulous set design, character idiosyncrasies, assured and muted-mustard cinematography, an affected offbeat soundtrack, love for all things quaint or vintage), but there’s no prevailing context or structure to uphold these aesthetic qualities. Instead, everything about A Fantastic Fear of Everything, all of its quirks and eccentricities, exist in a vacuum that suspends the film in a permanent condition of unfeeling.
The film stars Simon Pegg as Jack, a neurotic and intrapersonal-communicating East London writer hoping to sell his Decades of Death, a book about serial killers. His agent, Clair (Clare Higgins), sets him up with a potential Hollywood buyer,...

A quirky gem of a film, Crispian Mill's feature film debut A Fantastic Fear of Everything fits well into the British tradition of horror-comedy, where slightly-crazed logic flows along with an acceptance of the weird, the existential and the eccentric. While not without problems, the film has a strong heart, anchored by a great performance by Simon Pegg at his nerdy best. Pegg plays Jack, a children's book author who is attempting to break into the film world. He has written a script based on the lives and work of Victorian-age serial killers. This work has taken its toll on his psyche, and he now lives in constant fear of murder. During one particularly scary night, he is convinced that he is being set upon...

Simon Pegg is an actor who often succeeds wildly in making us smile, in films like Shaun of the Dead and Run, Fatboy, Run. So, it is a relief to see that the actor likes to smile, too. Moving away from the dark comedy A Fantastic Fear of Everything, the British comic will be hitting UK movie screens this fall in Hector and the Search for Happiness. The first trailer for the film is up and it looks like it hits the sweet spot without being too saccharine.
The film follows Pegg’s Hector, a glum psychiatrist who is just as depressed and uninspired as the patients he speaks with every week. He finds the courage to pick himself up and travel across the world, trying to find the places and people that can turn his frown upside down. But thanks to Cinedigm the project, which stars Simon Pegg ('Star Trek into Darkness'), has been set with a VOD release on 7 January and then will be followed by a limited theatrical run from 7 February. A Fantastic Fear of Everything' also stars Amara Karan, Clare Higgins, Sheridan Smith, Paul Freeman and Alan Drake....

In A Fantastic Fear of Everything Jack’s (Simon Pegg) life seems like a relatively realistic struggle with anxiety, until his fears start to manifest themselves in a fantastic way. I love Simon Pegg’s humor, but this movie seems that it will have some touching seriousness. Here’s the synopsis followed by the trailer.

When Jack is thrown a life-line by his long-suffering agent and a mysterious Hollywood executive takes a sudden and inexplicable interest in his script, what should be his big break rapidly turns into his big breakdown, as Jack is forced to confront his worst demons; among them his love life, his laundry and the origin of all fear.

The title of Simon Pegg's new film, "A Fantastic Fear of Everything," sums up the plot quite perfectly, as evidenced by the movie's trailer.
Pegg stars as Jack, a children's writer -- his most iconic creation is a lovable hedgehog -- who decides to take a turn in his career and write a crime novel about Victorian serial killers and their twisted motives. But while researching the book, Jack's findings thoroughly freak him out, to the point where he envisions killers are also on the hunt for him, illustrated through lavish, eerie fantasy sequences that wouldn't look out of place in a Tim Burton film.
The neurotic, paranoid Jack seems to fit Pegg's acting chops to a T, especially when he's awkward and bumbling around his love interest, played by actress Amara Karan, who just happens to frequent a laundromat that for some reason gives Jack the willies.

We've got a fantastic new trailer for Simon Pegg's fun looking paranoid comedy A Fantastic Fear of Everything. The film was written and directed by Crispian Mills, and it looks like a great film. Pegg looks like he does an amazing job in the movie, and I can't wait to see it!
Pegg plays a character named Jack in the story who "is a children's author turned crime novelist whose detailed research into the lives of Victorian serial killers has turned him into a paranoid wreck, persecuted by an irrational fear of being murdered. Simon Pegg has been a busy man lately. He co-wrote and starred in one of 2013′s best comedies, The World’s End, and he’ll be spending 2014 filming the Terry Jones-directed Almost Anything, the Christopher McQuarrie-directed Mission Impossible 5, and hopefully the who-knows-who-will-be-directing-it next Star Trek movie if all goes well. Lest anyone should forget about him in the meantime, though, he is also starring in A Fantastic Fear of Everything, a smaller-profile British comedy about a guy who’s afraid of a thing or two.
In the film, Pegg plays the lead role of Jack, a children’s book author turned crime novelist whose professional obsession with Victorian-era serial killers has made him just a wee bit paranoid about things. And of course, as the saying goes, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean that they’re not after you. In this case, it turns out Jack...

This year Simon Pegg saw some big action in both Star Trek Into Darkness and the conclusion of The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy in The World's End. Now he's toning it down a bit in a lower profile comedy called A Fantastic Fear of Everything. The film has already seen release in the United Kingdom, and now it's headed to the United States. Kula Shaker frontman Crispian Mills directs this film about a children's author-turned-crime-novelist whose deep research into gruesome Victorian era murders has made him an insomniac, fearful mess who finds himself on the run from an actual serial killer. The trailer has landed for Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's comedy about a group of mates attempting to finish a legendary pub crawl after 20 years – only to walk into an alien invasion
It's been a time of ups and downs for the writing team behind The World's End, director Edgar Wright and star Simon Pegg, since the duo's last film, Hot Fuzz, brought the buddy cop genre to a small town in rural Gloucestershire back in 2007. Wright won critical acclaim for the wonderfully dry, visually splendid Canadian comic book caper Scott Pilgrim vs the World but saw his rather expensive film become one of 2010's most high-profile box-office turkeys. Pegg has become Hollywood's go-to guy for comedic Brit sidekick roles in blockbuster sagas such as Star Trek and Mission: Impossible, yet struggled a little when placed centre-stage in middling fare such as last year's A Fantastic Fear of Everything and 2011's off-kilter Paul.

In A Fantastic Fear of Everything, Jack (Simon Pegg) has a fear of…. well… everything. A children’s book author turned Victorian crime writer, Jack is plague by fear around every turn so much so that he can’t leave his house. In his first feature length film, director/writer Crispian Mills has created a film that is both modern and classic, Dickensian by the way of Anthony Burgess, and funny as heck. Which is impressive when the main story arc centers around Jack trying to do a load of laundry.
But it’s never just a load of laundry, is it? The story uses one of our most simple actions and teases out a fully realized portrait of modern psychology. While the film’s plot is both simple and confusing it is better left unsaid. For the amount that Mills has inserted into the film, it is no wonder...

Well, folks, Day 9 has come and gone, which means only one thing – Toronto After Dark 2012 is officially on the book. As I write this from my hotel room, while packing my things for my return trip home, it hasn’t quite sunk in yet. I know it will hit me in a couple hours when, instead of lining up at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, I’m crossing the border back into the Us… But, enough about that for now; let’s focus on the fun of last night!
The night began with the Canadian short, Birthday Pictures. Of course, there’s a bit of a twist, but I won’t spoil that for you… If you get the chance,...

A Fantastic Fear of Everything
Directed by Crispian Mills and Chris Hopewell
Written by Crispian Mills

Today was Day 8, making this the penultimate night of Toronto After Dark 2012. At this point, only four films remain – two shorts and two features. However, before I start ruminating over the sadness that is post-tadff life, I’ll give you a rundown of what happened this evening at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema in beautiful Downtown Toronto, Ontario…
The evening kicked off with the Canadian short Alchemy And Other Imperfections, which the Tadff site describes as being about a woman who “makes a desperate bid to rid her husband of a memory that has soured their love and left them ostracized from the outside world.” I honestly couldn’t sum it up any better than that, which is why I felt the need to use a quote. Anyhow, the short was very interesting and well done, featuring a lot of fantastical imagery and some beautiful effects work; definitely one to watch,...
