Long before the players feel motivated, the game makes the mistake of discouraging you to quit at the very first pretty hard boss, however, overcoming this obstacle leads to an improvement in the experience.
Same goes for the visuals. While eventually I came to realise this game looks stunning, the textures of the initial mission left much to be desired, however, as you progress, the level design gets more refined and glamorous, presenting some fun monster and boss concepts never seen before, with the same ideology as Nioh.
One great thing this game has is, you can upgrade your deflect skill, making the combat so much more fun. Also, the dodge function prevents you from rolling off a ledge unless you press the jump button which is super useful in critical situations.
I really enjoyed the storytelling and the characters as well.
Basically you need to keep in mind Wo Long is a slow burner, so my advice would be to give it time to impress you and play as you would play another Nioh game to get the most out of it.
The grand finale is epic and breathtaking, in a way similar to Surge 2.
Among the technical benefits, the game allows you to save not only various gear into presets but also stats, meaning you can have different attributes levelled up for different presets which is incredibly helpful, also after a certain mission, you unlock the ability to infinitely respec without the need of any consumables, encouraging you to experiment to have various effective play styles.
The only thing I did not like is that you can not level up above 150 for the base game.
To wrap things up, Wo Long is undoubtedly worth checking out for Nioh fans.

Like other games from this developer like Nioh I enjoyed playing, but there are 2 main problems with this game. The first problem is the design of the levels and jumps. The design is horrible, enemies standing in the worst possible places, weird turns and turns. The places where you have to jump are also poorly done and the jumping in this game is done disgustingly. The second problem is the bosses. The first half of the bosses are elementary bosses that are passing with 1 try, the other is unbeatable monsters that can not be passed, and for the 50 attempts only if you do not clean the entire location, which will give you small advantage over the enemy in the form of higher levels. Bugs were not noticed, it was interesting to play, and investigate the location, too. The plot and characters are interesting only if you are very much interested in the Chinese style, although it is made by the Japanese. Basically if you love the souls like genre then you can pass, if not I would rather play Sekiro with which a lot has been taken for this game.
I've played the whole game, it's alright to play if you want to play an actual souls like, but it's just Sekiro: shadows die twice.
The combat system is horrible, if you are good at timing parries it's really easy, but if your not it's just a bad experience.
It's on Xbox game pass right now if you really want to play it, but if you think you couldn't do it just get Sekiro.
You can also just stand still and nothing happened, it's also very easy to get soft locked in the first area.
Wo Long is just a rip off dark souls/bloodborne/elden ring/demon souls/Sekiro game if you've played any of them you can see why.

If Sekiro and Nioh had a child, it would be this game.
The first boss is much more difficult than it should be but don't worry, it will get easier after.
Looks like a mediocre ps4 game, some of the mechanics are unnecessarily overcomplicated, story is below average but OH MY GOD the combat is so much FUN!! (Which is the most important aspect of a game like this)
I thought Sekiro had the best combat in all Souls-like games but this one is even better.
Compared to all the other Souls games, the combat here is more complex, allows you to do much more combos, use different types of attacks, combine them however you like and the pace is fast as hell but also it is more forgiving.
No stamina, instead you have something like in Sekiro but it is more complicated here and the game doesn't really explain it to you but it is rewarding and fun once you figure out how it actually works.
No rolling left and right, instead you can deflect the incoming attacks, or dodge away with some cool acrobatic moves or you can just block.
You can use the elements (water, fire, earth etc) and cast awesome spells with them. You can also summon Divine Beasts to help you. Each with different attacks and buffs.
You can also have one or two AI companions to go with you and help you. They can be really helpful.
The cutscenes are awesome. The fight scenes looks like from a movie. Looks incredible.
It's a really fun game, I definitely recommend it. Doesn't look amazing, won't change your life, won't be game of the year but you will love it if you like these type of games because the combat makes up for everything.

I think many player got this game all wrong which is sad because they are missing on some amazing combat and game.
Most of people think that parry is all the game is based on. Its NOT true at all. The game has many builds and play style. I finished the game and barely depended on only parrying. It all about how you play. What I am trying to say is that the game has many different gameplay style to choose from.
I loved Nioh 1 and 2 and specially Nioh 2. Wo Long takes Nioh combat to next level and makes its easier to execute and much more fluid. Though the divine beast system and spells are better in Nioh. BUT it was good to try something different otherwise it will be just the same right?
If you play on PC there are some very simple mods that can make the game look way better in a matter of a minute.
VERY underrated.... I hope the developers don't stop making games like these because of the false negative feedback.
