Daaku Maharaaj was the seventh most-viewed non-English film on Netflix this week. It surpassed Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi’s Dhoom Dhaam, which raked in 2.5 million views during the same period. Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer was also trending at #1 in as many as three countries.

The “SpongeBob” spin-off film brought in 12.8 million views from its Aug. 2 release through Sunday, Aug. 4, per Netflix viewing figures, leading it to become both the most-watched title as well as the most-watched movie of the week.

“Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie” outpaced “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” which took the No. 2 spot on the English films list with 7 million views as well as “Don’t Breathe 2” and “Trolls Band Together,” which both scored 5.9 million views during the week of July 29.

On the TV side, “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” debuted as the streamer’s most-watched TV show of the week with 7.4 million views, nearly doubling the...

Directed by Abhinay Deo and starring Anil Kapoor, Divya Khossla and Harshvardhan Rane, the action thriller Savi hit the big screen on May 31st to the praise of audiences and great returns at the box office.

In fact, Savi has turned out to be a rare profitable affair at the box office. A mid-budget film made at a cost of 28.50 crores, it actually recovered its investment prior to theatrical release itself and whatever came from the box office turned out to be an added bonus.

At the Indian box office, the film has netted 13 crores after two weeks. It has also collected some moolah from the overseas and that has resulted in the worldwide gross standing at 17.81 crores. There is a bit more that will come in weeks to come which should take the overall gross to 19-20 crores.

The first week of Savi has come to a close and the film has managed to bring in just a little under 10 crores. It has collected 9.50 crores at the box office which many would have expected to be the lifetime score before release.

In the times when majority of films are turning out to be dead on arrival, with or without a major starcast at hand, Savi has at least given some kind of a fight at the box office. With Divya Khossla at the center of affairs and Anil Kapoor and Harshvardhan Rane in supporting roles, there was a lot of heavy lifting that she had to do. Of course her male co-stars had a role to play in the film and the presence of Anil Kapoor helped, even though he was (rightly) not promoted or marketed aggressively...

On its second Friday, Bhaiyya Ji registered fair collections at the box office. There was Cinema Lovers Day announced as well but that catered primarily to multiplexes. Since Bhaiyaaji is a single-screen movie, the ticket rates are comparatively much lower right from the beginning anyway.

As a result, there was no real benefit that came the film’s way. As a result, what the film saw was normal trending rather than any upheaval of sorts.Collections on the second Friday came to 55 lakhs and considering the fact that there are other new releases too that hit the screens, the collections are fair.

On Thursday, Bhaiyya Ji had collected 65 lakhs, so numbers closer to that or even better, around 75 lakhs, would have been a better proposition. However, thankfully the film didn’t fall much either so that’s some relief as well.

The month of May witnessed a flurry of film releases in cinemas simultaneously. Among them were ‘Mr. & Mrs. Mahi’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, ‘Chhota Bheem’ by Anupam Kher, and ‘Savi: A Bloody Housewife’ featuring Divya Khosla Kumar and Anil Kapoor.
