Physically, a rather unlikely actor to portray Sherlock Holmes on screen. In Sherlock Holmes (1937), Speelmans appeared as Holmes, masquerading as Jimmy Ward, a dapper young socialite, working with the secret police to infiltrate a criminal organisation.
