Celia Imrie was filming during the day and appearing in "King Lear" with Glenda Jackson at The Old Vic at night. A fast car would take her across London to The Old Vic at the end of each day's filming.

Except for the five lead actresses and actors, all other dancers are played by people who were/are professional dancers.

Actor, Timothy Spall, actually owns a Dutch barge in real life.

Although Timothy Spall and Imelda Staunton had both appeared in Harry Potter et l'ordre du Phénix (2007) and Harry Potter et les reliques de la mort : 1ère partie (2010), they shared no scenes together in both movies so this was their first real acting collaboration. In the 1970s, they attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) together.
