Welcome back, fellow Whovians! And welcome to any new fans curious about the series! It's been far too long since new episodes aired, so Doctor Who Season 10 Episode 1 felt like a breath of fresh air.
Not only that, but the episode introduced us to brand-new companion Bill Potts, as played by the charming Pearl Mackie.
Doctor Who Season 10 Trailer: To The Tardis!!
First off, let's address the controversy about Bill and her sexuality. Turns out, she's a lesbian.
Frankly, fellow fans, after the extravagant Captain Jack Harkness, not to mention Vastra the Lizardwoman from the Dawn of Time (and her wife!), Bill comes across as totally understated.
In this particular instance, it added a wistful quality to the interaction between Bill and Heather, but it wasn't anything over the top or in your face.
Bill's curiosity, intelligence, caring, and adventurous spirit play a far greater role in her character...

Peter Capaldi is taking his last ride on the Tardis during Doctor Who Season 10.
Steven Moffat previously announced he will be stepping down and making way for incoming showrunner Chris Chibnall.
Now we know Capaldi will also be making way for the 13th incarnation of Doctor Who.
Capaldi shared his news on BBC radio.
"One of the greatest privileges of being Doctor Who is to see the world at its best," he said.
"From our brilliant crew and creative team working for the best broadcaster on the planet, to the viewers and fans whose endless creativity, generosity and inclusiveness points to a brighter future ahead."
"I can’t thank everyone enough. It’s been cosmic."
Capaldi last appeared as The Doctor on Doctor Who Season 10 Episode 1, "The Return of Doctor Mysterio," co-starring his new companion, Bill (Pearl Mackie) who joined The Doctor after the death of Clara.

Yes! Bones is coming back.
Precisely at 9/8c on Tuesday, January 3.
In true testament to the staying power of Bones, the show will have aired in six different time slots on five different nights by the time all is said and done. Assuming Bones Season 12 finishes where it starts!
It will be airing directly following two comedies. The time slot debut of New Girl and premiere of The Mick.
Bones is replacing a new reality series called Kicking & Screaming, which has been held back for sometime in midseason. I have no idea what that one is about, but it sounds unpleasant.
“From the very first season, Bones was called ‘The Little Engine That Could,’ so we could not be prouder of ending up as Fox’s longest-running scripted drama,” said creator and executive producer Hart Hanson.
“And we got there because of an insanely loyal, loud, lovely, lively audience.”
