Michael Mann, Rob Reiner, Kathy Bates, Aaron Sorkin, Keir Dullea, Sean Young, Barry Bostwick and Eric Braedon are headed to the 16th annual TCM Classic Film Festival this month.

Reiner will chat with Kathy Bates and Aaron Sorkin before screenings of his dramas Misery (1990) and The American President (1995), and for the closing night film, Michael Mann will be on hand for a presentation of his action-packed Heat (1995), whose memorable performances include one from the late Val Kilmer.

The festival takes place April 24-27 in Hollywood.

Other presenters announced Thursday to talk about the making of their films include Dullea for 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Bostwick for The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Young for Blade Runner (1982).

Danny Huston will introduce Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison (1957) — a film directed by his father, John Huston — Alexander Payne will get the audience pumped for Ben-Hur (1959), and Paul Schrader will set up Hud (1963).

The 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival has announced its closing night selection, Michael Mann’s “Heat,” which marks its 30th anniversary this year. The 1995 crime drama stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and late actor Val Kilmer; a sequel is in the works, with Adam Driver and Austin Butler rumored to be playing the younger versions of De Niro and Pacino’s respective characters.

The 16th annual festival from Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has a theme of “Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds on Film.” The festival will take place April 24 to 27, with the “Heat” screening including a conversation with writer/director Mann. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has a major problem with its user interface stylization, and appears quite a bit cluttered at times. This is quite a common complaint, and players have been clamoring for an updated Ui for quite some time now.

Until Treyarch and Activision officially release any sort of updates to the Hud though, this problem is likely to persist, and fans will be forced to take up creative liberty and design their own interfaces – something which the community has already been up to.

Powell weighed in on a comparison between himself and fellow star Ryan Gosling after an unnamed Hollywood producer told The Wrap that Powell appeals to all genders at the box office. The producer seemingly overlooked Gosling’s diverse filmography, and marginalized both actors into gender binaries.

As of now, he is the only person to have one of his works be adapted into an Academy Award-winning screenplay and win the Academy Award himself for adapting another author's work While McMurtry is known as an author first and foremost, his career has intersected with Hollywood from very early on. The films in contention for the 2023 Best Cinematography Oscar are “All Quiet on the Western Front,” “Bardo,” “Elvis,” “Empire of Light,” and “Tar.” Our odds currently favor “All Quiet on the Western Front” (16/5) taking the prize, followed in order by “Elvis” (39/10), “Tar” (9/2), “Empire of Light” (9/2), and “Bardo” (9/2).

Including his dual bids in 2008, this is the 14th time Roger Deakins (“Empire of Light”) has competed for this award. Singer, songwriter, former frontman of indie rock’s “The Walkmen” and now composer, Hamilton Leithauser can’t play the horns, but that didn’t deter him from accepting a gig to put music to the HBO six-part series “The Last Movie Stars.”-

Helmed by Ethan Hawke and executive-produced by Martin Scorses, the docu-series chronicles the love story of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward alongside their simultaneously flourishing Hollywood careers. Hawke enlisted a host of well-known voices — including Karen Allen, George Clooney, Oscar Isaac, Latanya Richardson Jackson, Zoe Kazan, Laura Linney and Sam Rockwell — to narrate the tale. The journey that led Ethan Hawke to make a six-part documentary about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward started about 40 years ago, when a 10-year-old Hawke was on his way to Sunday church with his father.

“I used to have to go to church every Sunday,” Hawke told the audience on Saturday at the Cannes Film Festival, where two parts of his CNN/HBO Max series “The Last Movie Stars” premiered. “I really hated church, but my parents made me go.”

One particular Sunday, he said, his stepmother was sick and decided to skip the service. So Hawke and his father got dressed up in their suits and ties and headed for church. “On the way there, my father turned to me and said, ‘There’s a matinee of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” playing. Would you rather do that?’”

He laughed. “Yes, I would rather do that!”
